Sale's velocity way down
QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 10:35 AM) This is why they need to add another starting pitcher to the mix. I'm concerned that his velocity is down - it may not be an injury, but he's tired, and a tired arm could lead to bad habits, etc. I don't think Danks is even part of the conversation as that addition to the rotation, but when you think about Quintana not having this many innings under him, and general concern about Peavy's durability, there's got be another veteran arm added to the mix. The Danks' situation is growing more concerning by the day. He's rested almost 2 months and he can't throw 30 pitches and not feel awful the next day. I had him penciled in for late August. This last bit of news yesterday made me erase that and pencil him in for perhaps spring training. I think there is something wrong that they haven't been able to see.

Trade Deadline Top Pitching Targets
QUOTE (TheCut87 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 03:05 PM) I was talking about taking a chance on him before the trade deadline ends i think if he is dealt it will be before the tuesday not during waiver period...if it is just fluid build up and the MRI was good to go, would KW trade for him now hoping this issue goes away in a week or two now knowing that he can get him possibly cheaper You won't get him cheaper. The Cubs will just wait until the offseason when he's supposedly healthy to deal him. They are in no rush.

Trade Deadline Top Pitching Targets
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 10:19 AM) I saw that too. Jeter had no idea. He's a funny guy but he can get annoying. I don't know... If Johnson came here and the Sox won it all I think it would raise too many eyebrows in Miami. I agree. Morrison seems like a guy who would be fun to be around for a while, but once it got old, and it wouldn't take all that long, it would be very annoying. Unless they are planning on telling Ozzie to take a hike, I don't see KW making deals with Miami that gives this team an instant upgrade unless he's willing to pay a lot higher price than other teams. Josh Johnson helping the White Sox win a WS has too many bad PR angles for the Marlins.

Trade Deadline Top Pitching Targets
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 10:12 AM) Didn't Beckett accuse Youk of snitching on the team when they were enjoying chicken and beer during games? That's the rumor I heard. I wouldn't touch Beckett.

Trade Deadline Top Pitching Targets
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 10:04 AM) It seems like "LoMo" is going to talk and tweet himself right out of the league. His antics are funny - when he's hitting and being productive. I imagine that s*** gets old quick when he's not producing. Someone said that they don't think the Marlins would want to make a trade that benefitted the White Sox for fear that it could help the Sox win and make Ozzie look even worse. I can definitely see that. If all things were fairly equal, I don't think the Marlins would send Josh Johnson to the White Sox for the reasons stated above. If the Sox were willing to take Heath Bell and help out Loria's bank account, that would be something totally different. I can't see the Sox taking Bell. On the Franchise show, Logan Morrison went back home to KC during the All Star break and went to a few festivites. One of the funniest scenes was when he was waiting for Derek Jeter who was coming up an escalator. When Jeter arrived Morrision walks up to him and says, "Hey Jetes", Jeter just looked at him and shook his hand. It was quite obvious Jeter had no idea who Logan Morrison was. Logan even acknowledged that a few seconds later.

Trade Deadline Top Pitching Targets
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 08:34 AM) Honestly, I'd rather take my chances with Humber than give up anything for Vargas. His road/home splits are pretty extreme and I don't think making half his starts at the Cell would do him any favors Away from Safeco, Vargas is brutal. .806 OPS against, 19 HR allowed. If they got him for nothing, that would be one thing, but to give up anything that might be decent someday for him would be a mistake IMO.

That, my friends, is a WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) 4 in a row . Would be great if Humber could prove all the nay sayers wrong tomorrow. It would be nice, but I think the last calendar year his ERA is pretty close to 6.00. The perfect game was a joy, he was great the first half of 2011 and make a few good starts after a break the second half last year. I think they were hoping for a sequel, but he just appears to be meat out there. When he pitched the perfect game, he looked hard to hit. Now he looks like he is out there to throw batting practice. He's got to step it up or ship out.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) 1 1/2 games up on Detoilet If they could have just got one in Detroit, it would be 3 1/2. I hope that sweep doesn't come back to haunt them, but back in the lead is sweet.

Sale's velocity way down
I hope its a dead arm. There were times on certain pitches where he seemed to be in some pain and kind of held his arm right next to his body. It actually reminded me of when I had a sublexation in my neck and the nerve was pinched shooting pain down my entire shoulder. I held my elbow right into my ribs. Not every pitch, but most where he was throwing harder.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:40 PM) Lets just hope De Aza is not injured. I think he'll be OK. It certainly didn't appear anything was broken.

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:40 PM) sox were a huge dog in Vegas tonight, congrats to anyone who made money I know Darvish was pitching, but anytime Sale takes the mound, at least initially, you have to like the Sox chances.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
Hamilton is barely over .200 the last 2 months and its not like he walks a lot. Too bad the Rangers weren't sellers, he'd be one to pick up. You know he's going to be insanely hot eventually.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:36 PM) Up by 4 hate to see him wasted in a non save situation may need him next 2 days. He'll be available if they need him I'm sure. Chances are they won't both days.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:31 PM) Yes he did DA. He'd look normal. It would be 65 degrees, and 3 pitches later he looked like somebody dumped the bucket of Gatorade on him.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:30 PM) It's not over yet. I remember a game when I was a kid where Bob James had a 4-0 lead and 11 pitches later the game was over 5-4 in Arlington. Probably the quickest 4 run deficit I've ever seen disappear in my life. Bob James sweat more than any person I have ever seen.

QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:27 PM) I kind of like the..."It's all good!" Hawk got that from the Twins game where they missed the trap right? I wonder how long he is going to keep that. Was the annoucement today about expanded replay, including traps, coincidence?

I guess the wrist which initially looked like it would need surgery is OK. Big win.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:20 PM) I could care less what, for example, Caesar posts every minute of a game thread....I really could care less if someone is optimistic or pessimistic, it's up to them. I don't think you'll fine me jumping on anyone or picking a fight just to be ornery in a game thread. Your posts don't reflect that. Now just watch the game and enjoy the victory.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:16 PM) Once again, I think I have a right not to have much confidence in Jones and Thornton at this point. But, by all means, tell me how I should feel about them. Maybe you should be at WSI with that attitude... You're the guy who tells everyone what they should think, and corrects everyone's spelling. Why are you popping off?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) Whatever, just ignore everyone else for 3-4 pages who was saying the same things. You're a tough guy, really. Big internet enforcer of everyone's feelings and opinions. Take a look at yourself in the mirror when you realize this is an INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD. And the game we are watching is a GAME. And the team you want to win is WINNING. Yet look at your posts. You would think they are losing by 20 runs and are 20 games out of first place.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:07 PM) Danks is a very capable 4th OF. Speed, defense, and has looked fine at the plate. He can't hit. He had a few hits early, but reality is starting to settle in. He can field and pinch run, but you really don't want him at the plate when you really need a hit.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:06 PM) Yeah, Sox need a legit 4th outfielder down the stretch. Unfortunately, Jordan isn't a major league hitter.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:04 PM) It's still NOT worse than Thornton and Jones. Jones has put on over 30 baserunners in his last 10 innings. Crain was pitching in garbage situations, just trying to get back to his comfort level. Keep in mind, he rushed to get back onto the roster instead of taking the customary minor league rehab assignment like he should have. Maybe something to do with us being woefully understaffed and inexperienced in the pen now. So he was just going to turn it on today and be lights out against better hitters. Gotcha. Quit your crying. The Sox are winning.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) There's no way Crain can be worse than Jones and Thornton have been recently. His last outing he went 2/3 of an inning and walked 3. The outing before he went 2/3 of an inning and gave up a homer, but don't let facts get in your way.
