  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) Was the actual bet just that the Indians wouldn't beat the Tigers? Or Sox would lose and Tigers would win? Just goes to show you he wasn't around at the end of 2005, 2008, 2009, etc. Teams with nothing to play for almost always gives contending teams fits because they're so loose and relaxed...and lots of younger players trying to make an impression on their new manager. And, the Indians had that early season history of owning Detroit. I think it was something like 6-1 or 7-1 in their first 7-8 games before the wheels came off. Betting baseball is almost always a sucker bet...unless you picked the Tigers yesterday, and that wouldn't have paid you hardly anything at all. His idols, the Vegas oddsmakers, made the Tigers prohibitive favorites. He thinks they know something the rest of the world doesn't. For his sake, I hope he didn't bet his allowance on the Tigers today.
  2. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) After watching the Tigers for two weeks when they lose, they make it close. With the Sox it seems some games the concede to a loss and want to start over the next day. That could be that Cabrera and Fielder are hitting so well, it creates a lot of pressure for other teams. Wasn't Hudson the tying run last night?
  3. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) Bases loaded for the Tribe. Top of the 7th with 1 out. If Cleveland wins, Ceasar will be doing his crying elsewhere the rest of his life.
  4. The Sox were supposed to lose 90+ games. Many on here had the Tigers winning at least 100. They are now tied. The Sox are clearly choking. But in all seriousness, losing 7 in a row at Detroit is really unbelievable, especially when you consider they are still tied. The Sox couldn't play well at home earlier this season, now they play very well there. Youkilis' OPS is double at USCF what it is on the road. Too bad they couldn't at least keep playing well on the road. Home games are going to help this team, and when Detroit comes into town, they are going to have to at least split. They are still in a better position now than they have been in years, especially with Cabrera grabbing his hip yesterday. He goes down and the Tigers are kittens.
  5. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 10:04 PM) Good thing we had Myers close the game because we can afford a $10M 7th/8th inning righty out of the pen last year. Was Dayan not available to PH for Hudson there?? Hudson hit the ball pretty hard.
  6. Almost misplayed it. The ODog actually hit that pretty well.
  7. They are getting nervous in Vegas.
  8. It would be nice for Rios to get a hit in Detroit.
  9. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) How much? Put your money where your mouth is big boy. I'd put my money where my mouth is anytime, but that would require you to have money. Your paper route doesn't pay that much.
  10. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:47 PM) your blind optimism is hilarious, Detroit swept this chokefest of a team and it's the posters fault for calling them out on it Kenny and Jerry enjoy your patronage haha Sox have a lot of home games left. They hit at home. Stop watching if being in first place bothers you so much.
  11. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:46 PM) My wallet says different. Yeah, I bet.
  12. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) They werent getting even bets on both sides. The Sox have their ace going and trying to avoid being swept and they open the line up at -175. Vegas knew what was gonna happen tonight. Trust me. What did Vegas have as the over/under for White Sox wins this season, since the people in Vegas know exactly what is going to happen.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) So many red flags with him not to bring him back next year. I'd bring him back, but not for $13 million. You'd have to think if he wants to play for a while, USCF is a place he'd like to play.
  14. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) It caused Detroit problems too, but they take care of business against us. They dont choke. Detroit doesn't choke, the White Sox do nothing but choke, and in the standings they are tied. Don't let the facts smack you on the ass. Your posts are beyond ridiculous.
  15. Youkilis has a 1.195 OPS at home and coming into tonight, a .180 batting average and .568 OPS on the road. Padres and Rockies don't have splits that radically different.
  16. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) He hit .231 with a sub 700 Ops in August. Yet we keep trotting him out there in the 4 hole. Wise gets bumped to the 3 hole because our manager is incapable of creativity. Dunn hit 3, his replacement must hit 3. Wise was hitting .400 vs. Verlander coming in. It really didn't matter who hit where tonight. He could have picked names out of a hat.
  17. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) If you consider choking away a division and playoff appearance fun, then yep, it's gonna be a f***ing blast. Yeah, just like everything else, being in first place really sucks, and is certainly no fun. You really should find something else more enjoyable to do with your time.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:15 PM) It's weird because you can't say PK has had a good season, he hasn't driven in any runs. A good month could probably make his season look good, though. Actually, he's been in a tough spot to drive in runs. If he gets on base, Dunn either cleans the bases or will walk. Considering his OBP without walks and homers, its not as if he advances a lot of players to 3B, and if he walks, he's usually not going to score on a double. Paulie's RBI total is pretty irrelevant.
  19. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:12 PM) Paulie has looked pathetic for most of the year besides that one month he was ridiculously hot. He used to get clutch hits all the time, whats wrong with him? Just like the rest of the roster save Jordan Danks, the manager, the coaches, the announcers..................he sucks. You'll find all the information on this board.
  20. All this crap and still in first place. They will put it back together.
  21. Like was mentioned before, Delmon Young is such a jackass, he's one guy it hurts extra bad to watch people celebrating.
  22. This appears to be the 7th game in a row they are going to lose in Detroit. Still in first is a miracle. Things will have to change when the go head to head at USCF. If they just would have won 3 of the 7, they would have a 6 game lead.
  23. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 06:43 PM) I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he will be back next year if they miss the playoffs. Unless he decides to walk away, it sure is. If he didn't get canned last year, there is no way he's getting canned this year. They have exceeded their own expectations.
