  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) That was scary. Getting hit in the face with a line drive is damn frightening. I am so glad he appears to be OK. I don't mean this to sound bad, but Humber is not the same guy he was the first half. He's going to get killed out there. I wonder if the Sox are going to have to shut him down. How can a guy just simply lose it in mid August? His pitches are scary hittable right now. I think the workload may have caught up to him. He really hasn't pitched all that much recent years. Who knows, maybe this little break is a blessing and the breather he needs to come back strong.
  2. Taking him out is the correct thing. Hopefully he's OK.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) Hahn's supposed to be one of the best negotiators in all of baseball. Mark Teahen's and Adam Dunn's agents concur.
  4. QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 04:29 PM) Easy on KW Jr. LOL I remember he played for the Ju-Co WS Champions (where I went to JC) with Jerry Manuel's son....they hooked me up with tickets in the Wives Section (I didn't know that's why there was a ton of hot chicks around me....Singleton's wife was the best) tickets and I proceeded to get drunk and swear a lot at Manuel for misusing the bullpen. Mrs. Manuel was seated 2 rows down directly in front of me....luckily she was understanding and I got to stay in my seat for the duration. We lost the game and I cursed Jerry's name all I wanted on the way down the ramps Jerry Manuel's son gets you tickets and you act like that. That's classy.
  5. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 05:28 PM) I've sought the insight of many of the beat guys, and I receive such well thought out justifications as "they don't pick high in rounds, so they don't have to spend that much." Boston and the Yankees usually draft after the White Sox and they spend more money. I really don't have any issue with not spending money on signing bonuses as long as you're signing the guys you are drafting and you are not just drafting them because of signability. The only issues I would have is if some of these guys who other teams drafted in later rounds but signed for first round money were high on the Sox board but they didn't draft them because they didn't want to spend money. In other words, there are first round guys available who drop because of money. Its one way a team without a first round pick can actually draft one.
  6. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 10:33 PM) For the rest of the night maybe. Carry-over to tomorrow such a myth, IMO. Most of the time I would agree, but this is the type of game the Sox have blown all year, especially when they get to the .500 mark. A win may give them a spark. Sox with 4 triples tonight.
  7. A walk off win could do wonders for this team.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 10:25 PM) Becks blew that. He wasn't going to get that guy at home. DP was only option, right? He wasn't going to get a DP either. It actually was a blessing he didn't get it cleanly because he was coming home, the runner would have been safe and the other guy would have been on second and would have just scored.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 09:57 PM) I don't think AJ calls his games. He is always looking into the dugout before calling pitches AJ calls pitches. He looks to the dugout for pitchout calls and throws to first. They actually tell the pitcher to throw to first these days.
  10. lefties have very little chance against Sale.
  11. Now the bullpen shuts them down and the Sox will be over .500.
  12. I really don't think its just coincidence the Sox started scoring more runs since they got Dunn out of the middle of the order.
  13. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 09:25 PM) You're right - it's Laz Diaz back there. I should cut Ohman some slack. Diaz called Cabrera out on strikes on what should have been ball 4. It probably save at least one run if not more. I'd call it even.
  14. 2 triples for De Aza. Rios has to get back in the line up.
  15. QUOTE (Unknown @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 09:20 PM) I think we can all agree that Floyd did not have his good stuff tonight. He had awesome stuff for a while. The Sox will still win this game. They have been getting the breaks.
  16. Nice job there.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) The rulebook might not allow them to give him 2b if he stopped running on his own. I think that is the case, so his choice was take his chances the ump makes the call or stay at first.
  18. If Choo attempts to steal second, I think its progress if the Sox catcher even makes a throw.
  19. There's no doubt Choo would be on second if he didn't stop because the guy was on the ground in front of him.
  20. That's a huge break at the moment.
  21. Stone has pretty much praised Jimenez tonight. When he was on the Score on Friday, he ripped him and said Cleveland overpaid significantly for him.
  22. Flowers and Dunn may have a strikeout contest tonight.
  23. AJP is one who will be far more appreciated when he's gone.
  24. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 05:43 PM) Cooper has openly opposed Z coming to the Sox. The last thing you want to add to an under achieving team is an under achieving cancer. I would take the Big Z for the minimum with no leash. He screws up once, he's gone. I do think he will be playing for Ozzie eventually.
  25. Something that is also pretty amazing to me, Thome has never hit 3 homers in a game. Hopefully he does it tonight.
