Ian Gac, Carolina league MVP
26 year olds in A ball should put up some numbers. On the other hand, I wonder if Dunn could have hit .220 in A ball this year.

9/2 - Sox @ DET; Danks vs. Ver-Zeus-Der
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 07:43 PM) 0-2 and he becomes afraid of the plate. There's a reason guys spend most of their careers in the minor leagues. The Sox have to win the next 2.

Speigel vs Cowley on WSCR
So Cowley said their last fight was when KW wanted to rid himself of Pierre but Ozzie said no. Of course KW backed down and Pierre got hot. The "skipper" would never be wrong. The only reason he played Rios and Dunn and batted them so high in the order was because KW said he had to do that. Is Cowley's tongue so far up Oney's ass he can't even see he's being played?

... it's about time
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 08:30 PM) You do realize Thome's last year on the Sox was the option year and was making over $14M. I think he was getting $2M from the Twins. It would almost be disrespectful if the Sox offered Thome that same money. That was an awful lot of money wrapped up in a player that leaves you with very few options and was also having back problems. I still think it was a smart move financially and unfortunately his replacements didn't work out. His success last year had a lot do with how Gardenhire handled him. I don't think how he did as a Twin would translate to the same performance with the Sox especially with Ozzie as manager. If Ozzie would have said yes, he would have signed for about what Kotsay was making.

Exec's believe both Oz and Kenny could be gone
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 08:12 PM) What's the comparison between Williams and Schuler? Similar if not worse for Williams. What's interesting is Schueler's best players were left by Himes. KW's best players were leftovers from Schueler. I think Schueler's teams averaged about a win a or 2 a season more if you take into account the strike year and prorate it. Schueler also became very afraid to spend JRs cash. KW has no problem in that department. Schueler wasn't fired though. Manuel was. They both have to go. A clean break, a fresh start. Everyone mentions how loyal JR is. Well, he's more loyal to his partners than anyone else. They can't be happy with the product they paid for.

Exec's believe both Oz and Kenny could be gone
I wonder if Greg and Marty and Joe and Oney realize Ozzie has averaged less than 2 wins a season more than Jerry Manuel and Manuel never had a team ranked as high in total payroll as Ozzie's lowest ranked payroll team. Good riddance Ozzie.

Exec's believe both Oz and Kenny could be gone
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) Production from Rios and especially Dunn were givens. I also think the Hudson trade hurts Williams here. I think Ozzie making out his line up card for way too long thinking he'd get anything out of those 2 is going to hurt him, as is how he is taking things public. I hope they are both gone.

It did take Viciedo 3 AB to match Dunn's hit total vs. LHP this season.

Williams On Hot Seat Too?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) Or on the other side of the coin, how many people know any of the details of Kenny's deal? Not many, because he never talks about it. I've read where KW operates on a one year contract that automatically rolls over. Supposedly if he gets let go he gets full pay for a year.

That's White Sox loser
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 04:10 PM) Even Ozzir Jr. disagreed with daddy's move to PH Dunn for Lillibridge. Ozzie took a chance exerting his managerial control . If Dunn gets a hit he's looks like a genius but he outsmarted himself and ends up looking like, well ,Ozzie to be kind. Let's hear it people. Get venomous ! Ask Cowley, Ozzie didn't want to pinch hit Dunn for Lillibridge. KW must of called the dugout and demanded it.

Williams On Hot Seat Too?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) Cmon. The new manager will have Dunn batting third or fourth to open next season and Rios starting in center. Unless the GM figures a way to dump them both or convince Jerry it'd be wise to start over with the new GM/manager and just release them. Dunn will have spring training to show if anything has changed. If a new manager took over a month ago, I really doubt Adam Dunn would be batting 4th, especially against LHP. I know you love Ozzie, but he makes mistakes, and has made several this year. As soon as he moved Dunn down to the 7 hole, the team got a lot better. Now that he's not even playing.......

8/30 GT - SOX vs Twins - 7:10pm CDT - CSN
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) Didn't Rios have someone on base and fail every time he came up yesterday? When he rolled into a DP yesterday and was out by about a half step, the Twins broadcasters blasted him for not running very hard.

Williams On Hot Seat Too?
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 05:49 PM) This talk is taking away from our run at the AL Central title. We should be concentrating on that. I have to believe the off season will be interesting and when these things get settled Unless KW is canned and replaced with an Ozzie lover, if Ozzie sticks to what he says, which he doesn't quite often, he gone. The best thing would be both gone. Their childishness has gotten in the way of winning baseball games. They both need to put their dicks back in their pants and do their jobs.

Williams On Hot Seat Too?
Cowley did say that had a fight over Pierre, KW wanted him gone Ozzie refused, and he said that KW is lying when he said Ozzie can play who he wants. So in Joe's and Oney's and Ozzie's little world, Ozzie played Pierre because KW wanted him out and played Rios and Dunn because big bad KW forced him. Isn't that a little contradictary? KW can't get Pierre off the roster because of Ozzie, but Ozzie can't get Dunn and Rios out of the line up and batting 4th and 5th because of KW. Riiiiiiiiiiight.

Peace Offering - Tonight's Game
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 02:49 AM) Disappointing no one took him up on the offer as we would've found out (maybe) if Marty is Cowley or not. Oh well the saga continues... If he's not Cowley, Cowley is his idol, so it may even be scarier.

Williams On Hot Seat Too?
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 05:14 PM) Chuck Garfien Ozzie Guillen says he'll want a contract extension from White Sox this off-season. He's signed through 2012. 1 minute ago Favorite Retweet Reply Chuck Garfien Guillen: "One thing I make clear, I don't think I'll be back here for 1 year contract, and not know about the next year." 56 seconds ago Favorite Retweet Reply Ozzie is a genius. He's taking all the attention away from his team that won 4 in a row so everyone can talk about his status. He cried last year about his option being picked up, now he's crying about an extension. Bu-bye Ozzie. Please take Oney with you.

Williams On Hot Seat Too?
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 10:24 AM) If they were on the last years of their contracts, I might agree with you. These guys are going to be around for a while, how do you justify not playing them the rest of this year and opening 2012 with them as starters? Easy. Didn't Ozzie tell you he had balls? All he has to do is show Dunn the stat sheet where it says Dunn .163 and show Rios the same sheet. It will say Rios .212 and also note Alex doesn't seem very interested in playing , and when he played them everyday, he still was hitting them 4th or 5th. You'll never admit it, but Ozzie has had a bad year with the line up card.

6/28 GT - SOX @ M's - 3:10pm CDT - WGN
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) I think the major plus of that experience is to learn to manage the egos involved and to deal with the media, not because the game is any different at the major league level than in the minor leagues. How many bench coaches and 3rd base coaches deal with the media? Sandberg has dealt with the media more than probably most. Again, I don't know if he would be any good, but to say since he doesn't have major league experience as a coach he shouldn't even be considered as a manager which is what Joe is saying, is beyond ridiculous.

6/28 GT - SOX @ M's - 3:10pm CDT - WGN
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) Means nothing. Bench or even third base coach is by far better preperation to manage in the majors than managing in the minors is. Its managing baseball, not splitting an atom. For the love of God, Sandberg knows his way around a major league clubhouse. I don't know how getting signs from a dugout to give to a hitter or runner is going to make him more prepared. Of course, that did work for Terry Bevington and Mike Quade. Oh wait....... I'm not saying I would hire the guy, but he did what a lot of guys wouldn't, he went back to riding buses. He may not get a job, but he's earned interviews.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) Eat s*** Ozzie! f***ing moron Its on KW for not forcing him on Ozzie. Ozzie did say if he was called up he would play every day. Calling up Dallas McPherson earlier was a total joke.
-
6/28 GT - SOX @ M's - 3:10pm CDT - WGN
I'm glad they didn't call him up earlier. He is 2 ABs in and has 1 less hit vs. LHP than Dunn has all year.

6/28 GT - SOX @ M's - 3:10pm CDT - WGN
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 02:56 PM) Has the media asked Ozzie's take on Rios batting fourth in some games? I agree it's a big FU as he wraps up his final season on the South Side. If we finish .500, BTW, Ozzie's departure is going to be controversial. Sox aren't going to look good nationally on this one. To go .500 with Dunn and Rios having years like that and Beckham sucking? Some media will say he should be manager of the year. Those are 3 automatic outs. Also there should be a lot of national jokes on saying goodbye to a manager who led Chicago to the rarest of things - a baseball championship. I won't cry the day he leaves but it should be crazy fun. Maybe they could have been in the race had Ozzie not continued putting these automatic outs in promenent spots in the order.
