  1. Don't look at the ball Anorexei, just run.
  2. The Twins seemed to deflate after the pick off. The Sox can win this game.
  3. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 08:11 PM) 1. 8th Inning Nightmare / 10.14.2003 Five outs from the World Series, the Cubs suffer nightmare 8th inning of Game 6 of the NLCS as fan Steve Bartman interferes with Moises Alou's attempt to catch a foul ball, followed by Alex Gonzalez muffing an inning-ending double-play ball; Marlins win the game and later the series. 2. Hester, You Are Ridiculous / 02.4.2007 Following a regular season in which he returned six kicks/punts for touchdowns, Bears rookie Devin Hester returns the opening kickoff of Super Bowl XLI for a touchdown, the first time in Super Bowl history that feat is accomplished. 3. Series Champs / 10.26.2005 In the only run of the game, Jermaine Dye hits a game-winning RBI single and after an 88-year drought the White Sox become World Series Champions, sweeping the Astros in four games. 4. Say It Ain't So(sa) / 06.3.2003 Sammy Sosa is caught with a corked bat and ejected from the game; claims he mistakenly used a batting practice bat. 5. Cross-town Quarrel / 05.20.2006 Cubs catcher Michael Barrett ignites a bench-clearing brawl by sucker punching the White Sox's A.J. Pierzynski after a collision at the plate. 6. Desert Miracle / 10.16.2006 Trailing 20-0 at halftime of Monday Night Football vs. the Cardinals, the Bears' defense stages an incredible fourth quarter comeback; Mike Brown and Charles Tilllman both return fumbles for touchdowns and Devin Hester returns a punt 83 yards for a touchdown and the Bears win 24-23. 7. One for Sweetness / 11.7.1999 In their first Bears game since the shocking passing of NFL legend Walter Payton, the Bears defeat their storied rival Packers 14-13 (the team's first win over the Packers since 1993) on a blocked field goal by DT Bryan Robinson. 8. One for the Ages / 04.30.2009 Bulls force a game seven in its first round playoff series with defending NBA Champion Celtics with a triple-overtime, 128-127 thriller that features Joakim Noah's steal, full-court drive, dunk and three-point play that fouls out Paul Pierce with 35 seconds left. 9. Big Z, Big No-No / 09.14.2008 Carlos Zambrano throws the first no-hitter by a Cubs pitcher in 36 years, against the Astros, at neutral Miller Park in Milwaukee. 10. Don't Stop Believin' / 10.23.2005 Scott Podsednik, who had not hit a home run during the regular season, blasts a solo homer to center field in the bottom of the ninth off closer Brad Lidge to lift the Chicago White Sox to a 7-6 win and put the team up two games to one in the World Series. Paulie's GS in the WS, the most noise and loudest I have ever heard a stadium, inside or out and I've been at the Chicago Stadium was shaking. What about Buerhle's no hitter. It was at least done in Chicago?
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 08:10 PM) #1 was Bartman #2 was Hester's Super Bowl kickoff return #3 was Sox winning World Series. I know Zambrano's no-hitter was higher than Pods walkoff in the WS. Buehrle's no-hitter didn't make it. I'm surprised Ditka and Ozzy Osbourne singing "Take Me out to the Ballgame" didn't rank higher than a World Series.
  5. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 08:09 PM) beckham scared me right there that didnt look like it was going to end up good... Yeah, that looked like he'd be in a cast shortly.
  6. I'm going to the Metrodome 7/27 and 7/28. I hope the Sox figure out how to win there by then.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) I love Jermaine Dye. His all star snub is really disappointing. Didn't Ian Kinsler get snubbed as well?
  8. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 08:03 PM) then they could DH mauer....and split time at C with Montero to save his knees....my point was that there will be room for mauer if the yankees want to pony the money up....theres always room for a bat like that He can catch. Nobody's better than him. Its one player I think JR may consider bidding with the Yankees if he ever became available.
  9. Did anyone see the new technology they are going to be breaking out soon? Every park will have it next year supposedly. It will have the velocity of the hit ball, the speed of the runners on base, the speed of the fielders, and the routes the fielders take to the ball and the path the runners use to run the bases.
  10. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 07:59 PM) doesn't mean mauer won't find himself at 1b with Tex DH though Texiera DHing is a waste. He's legit GG-quality.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 07:57 PM) Don't see JR and KW investing $125-150 million into Joe Mauer when the Yankees will throw it at him to replace Posado or whoever is catching there in 2010. Konerko would be gone, Mauer is a good citizen. JR stepped up for Albert Belle. Weakening his big rival and picking up a future HOFer in his prime, that money could be a bargain. Not saying there's much of a chance, but if they were willing to bust the budget on Hunter, Mauer is a no brainer. Chances are though the Twins arent' going to let him go, and if they did, they would trade him first and not to the White Sox.
  12. If Mauer becomes a free agent after next year, the White Sox should offer everything including the kitchen sink for him. Let Flowers play first or DH.
  13. By Mark Gonzales MINNEAPOLIS - Bartolo Colon's five-inning outing Thursday night for Triple-A Charlotte was more encouraging than his April 23 outing against Baltimore, according to a major league source who witnessed both outings. "He definitely threw more breaking pitches and change-ups," the source told the Tribune Friday after Colon pitched five innings of one-run ball against Triple-A Norfolk. "You could notice he was throwing more sliders and wasn't afraid to throw them to left-handers as well as right-handers." The source was unaware that the Sox wanted Colon to throw more breaking pitches. Colon was tagged for five runs on eight hits and two walks without striking out a batter in a loss at Baltimore on April 23. "He was throwing in the 88-to-90 (mph) range," the source added. "It looked like when he wanted to throw harder, he did. He was throwing more four-seam fastballs. I could tell because he was trying to raise the hitters' eye level." Colon threw 40 of 65 pitches for strikes. He is scheduled to pitch seven innings Tuesday night for Class-A Kannapolis at Savannah. He remains in contention to pitch July 24 against Detroit. The Sox haven't decided how they will align their rotation for the start of the second half, but Mark Buehrle and Jose Contreras remain contenders to start the first two games against Baltimore. The Sox also requested waivers on left-handed reliever Jimmy Gobble for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release. Considering the velocity difference most White Sox pitchers seem to have between what they are reportedly throwing in the minors and what the board at USCF says, 84 last night seems accurate. However, he hadn't pitched in a while and was throwing 88 before and would have been fine as a 5th starter if he mixed in a few breaking pitches.
  14. Its a shame Paulie can't run at all, or we'd be looking at the tying run at the plate with no outs.
  15. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) I am so glad the Dome is gone after 2009 ..........Yankees just beat the dogs*** out of MINN 7-0 in 2009 and Sox are just what the Twins needed to get back on track f***!!!!!!! I really think its the White Sox attitude about the dome. They go up there looking for things to go wrong. Sure its a different game in that place, but the White Sox dominate that team in Chicago.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) I'm calling bulls*** with the tentativeness thing. He got squeezed mightily against Span, and then he didn't give in to two of the best hitters in baseball on a 3-2 count. Kubel always destroys the Sox, so that's nothing new. I think it's pretty pathetic by Hawk to go nuts on Danks like this and call him out. He threw 3-2 cutters that missed by more than a little. He wasn't his aggressive self.
  17. QUOTE (Nokona @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 07:34 PM) I genuinely think the strike zone against the first batter rattled Danksy. I'm sure its happened, but I wonder if its ever happened to a guy who has had the success Danks has had.
  18. Keep it at 4 and things can still work out. I don't understand Danks' tentative-ness. He dominated this team last October.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 07:26 PM) Hawk and Stone sure seem to be ripping on Danks mental mind set so far tonight. Its the typical White Sox Metrodome performance. Disgusting really. I think the team should meet with a Sports shrink before they go back at the end of the month.
  20. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 07:39 PM) I like the way Poreda seems to be adjusting to his role in the pen. I see him as a reliever anyway so I'd prefer to keep him there. Poreda = good in the pen right now Richard = bad in the rotation right now If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Poreda is fine where he is, and is doing much better there than Richard was, so fix the area where the hole is without opening up another one somewhere else. This makes sense. For all anyone knows, Poreda may struggle just as much or more than Richard if he were in the rotation, then you have 2 problems. Richard, Colon, Garcia in a month or so, or get someone else. Leave Poreda where he's having success.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 07:27 PM) Good series and over the last 10 games have gained 2 games on Tigers and Minny. I just want somebody from the org to come out and say something along the lines of "f the Twins and their ballpark, we've come in here scared before, no more." Instead it will be more of the same I'm afraid from Ozzie and Hawk I agree. While showing respect to an opponent is nice, the White Sox kick the Twins ass in Chicago. There is no reason they shouldn't at least be able to hang with them in Minnesota. I think they have arrived at the ballpark defeated the past couple of years especially. The first time something goes the Twins way, the game is over. Its time to take that back.
  22. Colon has only given up 1 hit through 4 innings tonight although he hasn't struck anyone out. Maybe he can do the job. He had his moments earlier this year.
  23. QUOTE (brendol @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 07:19 PM) Every time Clayton starts, our bullpen gets worked... we need to change the 5th starter. If Poreda starts the bullpen will get worked as well. Also, at this time, I think you might be shocked at what the opposition will be able to do against Poreda the second time through the line-up. His breaking stuff is average at best, the other night he was throwing mostly 92, hit 94 twice, and 90 several times. He's not the savior. He can be a big help in the bullpen . As a starter, I think if he's going to be much of one, its going to be at least 2010.
  24. Dick Allen replied to flavum's topic in FutureSox Board
Colon 3 ip 1 h 0 r 0 k so far. I'd like to see a few strikeouts, but considering he hasn't pitched for a while the results look decent. Hopefully he's throwing more than 88 and has an off speed pitch to go with it. Now its 4 ip with 1 hit. Didn't Contreras do the same thing in Charlotte. Maybe lightning can strike twice. Nah.
