  1. Larry Hughes is getting close to running out of room for tats.
  2. I wish the Sox were able to get Cabrera, but I wouldn't want to be on the hook for 8 years with him. He's liable to have to have a wall knocked out of his house 5 or 6 years from now so he can get to spring training. If he keeps his weight in check, this is a great deal for Detroit, and while he probably could get a couple extra dollars testing the market, why risk it, its more than enough for him to live in luxury the rest of his life.
  3. Noccioni was thrown off the bench by the Bulls' coaching staff tonight. The team is messed up.
  4. QUOTE(flavum @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) 4-0 Sox. Roughing up Lilly. The guys on fire this spring continue. Pablo, Uribe and BA. Each has 2 hits. Quentin with a double.
  5. QUOTE(jenks45monster @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) I've got to agree with you here. They need to quit wasting money on Hall. He isn't worth it. They should just bring Lucy up for 3 reasons. #1. He will probably be better than Hall and #2. He is a ton cheaper than Hall and #3. Let him develop in the majors. The problem is they are going to have to pay him no matter what. Lucy can use some more seasoning. Considering how due Hall is for a hot streak, they might as well keep him on the roster. The back-up catcher doesn't get much time with AJP around. If AJ gets hurt, the Sox are in trouble.
  6. They can't pawn him off on anybody, so instead of just paying him to do nothing, they will pay him to put on a uniform, get into a few games and do nothing.
  7. I thought Toby Hall would be a lock to improve over last year. Now I'm not so sure. He's stealing money.
  8. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 03:28 PM) i hope you're not trying to make a point, it's uribe, he swung at every pitch and the hit was a blooper in shallow left field, and the RBI was a miscue on soriano misplaying what should've been an easy out everything went right for uribe and that RBI So you're saying he's not having a great spring? A hit is a hit. He got the job done. Yesterday he drove in the tying run in the 9th and scored the go ahead run.
  9. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) lol @ uribe batting 2nd 1-1 with an rbi. Spring average now .368.
  10. I like when a bar loads the urinal with ice. Its fun trying to melt it all.
  11. Sox would have won if the ball didn't take a ridiculous hop right into Phillips' face.
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:19 PM) Ah, it only works when he's BAD in spring training to determine we should be worried, good outings must be taken with a grain of salt. OK. Good and bad should be taken with a grain of salt at this point of time.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:17 PM) Do you get off comparing apples and oranges? Are you going to continue to bring in irrelevant player's name to try and posture. I have Crede's MAJOR LEAGUE NUMBERS to determine what he is as a player, that how I can determine that he sucks. Is there a team in the majors that would trade their 3B for Crede? I'm just pointing out that the same things you are saying about Fields you must of been saying about Crede 6 years ago. That he's only going to get better, blah, blah, blah, and now you say he sucks. BTW, throw out last year because he was hurt and Crede had been trending upward with average and slugging in 2005 and 2006.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:09 PM) HAHAHAHA. Maybe you should bring my positive comments on haeger into the discussion. s***, lets bring the first 5 min of a test drive I did with a BMW if we are going to walk down that path. Once again, 2003 when Crede finally played full time, he performed about at what his career has been with a few years that have been outliers. Everyone including scouts expected him to break out, and up to this point, it really hasnt happened consistently Of course thats how baseball is, and the smart money is on Josh improving his numbers, considering he improved every month he played last season, has shown an extremely increased timeline on development for a player that wasnt all that polished when drafted, and has already shown he can equal the production of the current incumbent for less money for for much higher upside. Its a no-brainer. Than what do you base your enthusiasm about Carlos Quentin on? His 170 AB in 2006 and minor league numbers? It can't be his 2007. 200 AB in 2002 with Crede's minor league track record, he was MVP in AA and AAA, and now you think he sucks.
  15. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:09 PM) I'm not comparing them, I'm just giving you an example of someone who SO a lot but also BB's a lot. I don't think you can compare Josh Fields to anyone yet. Not with a 1/2 a season of major leagues under his belt. But while Fields walks more than Crede, he doesn't walk a lot.
  16. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:59 PM) Josh Fields has played 1/2 a season, too. Don't compare Josh Fields with Adam Dunn. Adam Dunn has a career OBP of .381 which happens to be Nick Swisher's career high, and Swisher will get on base a lot more than Fields.
  17. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) In 533 abs, Crede's highest BB total was 56. (aa) In 477 abs, Fields' highest was 55 (aa) (462 the next season in aaa, 54) Crede also K'd alot with more baseball experience. There's no doubt in my mind who will be the better offensive player/potential is/will be. The most Crede k'd in a season is 81 times. If Fields plays every day, he can cut his k's down 20% and still double that.
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:57 PM) Dont you mean 2003 when he actually got more than 50 games and 200 ab's? No 2002. 200 ABs. That would have been plenty of MLB at bats for you to form your opinion. It only took 2 appearances for you to hop on the Lance Broadway bandwagon, and you appear to be high on Ramirez with about 40 spring training at bats.
  19. QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) well then lets be fair and point out the fact that credes obp last year was .259....if you really think fields will end up with a .308 career obp than i agree with you...gimme crede, especially considering the defense and lower ks....but ill be willing to bet you that fields ends up with an obp for his career at least .030 higher than crede You can't judge Crede on last year's numbers. That would be like judging Frank Thomas on 2001
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:54 PM) Crede has had a career of those numbers, Fields hasnt even had an entire season and has replicated them, he had nowhere to go but up, we already know what Crede does. Would you have had the same opinion about Crede in 2002? That he had nowhere to go but up?
  21. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) Adam Dunn says hi. Adam Dunn gets on base at a much higher clip than .308.
  22. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) Ha and Crede's career is an awesome .304 but do go on. I will go on. I never said Crede was perfect, but you guys go on and on about Fields. The only thing he's shown he can do on the major league level is hit homers. He's not an OBP machine, you give him credit for having more walks than Joe Crede. What's so impressive about that?If Crede sucks like I've read numerous times, Fields must suck as well. I've never said Fields sucks, but my opinion is he's Ron Kittle Jr. offensively.
  23. QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:46 PM) over the course of the season.....in the 50 times a guy like crede puts the ball in play for outs more than fields roughly 2 will cause errors (assuming .960 flding %)...the moving runners thing...yeah how many times over the course of the season will crede get the job done when fields wont? 5? besides the stats we are looking at dont adequately even reflect that because we dont know how each batter fared in those specific situations... its my opinion that the 30 extra walks are quite a bit more valuable than those few extra times the opposition makes an error or the guy is moved over Fields OBP was .308 last year. Crede's career is .305. I think the 100 fewer strikeouts Crede would provide would more than make up for that .003 loss of OBP.
  24. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:45 PM) Hey, nice play Josh! He's not awful defensively. He makes some nice plays. He is prone to blow easy ones.
  25. Quentin has been the forgotten man this spring.
