Say "Hi!" to ARow, Drop off Crede, Pick up Cain
QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:33 PM) yeah....explain why thats bad Because strikeouts don't move runners. Strikeouts don't make fielders field the ball and cause errors.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:16 PM) N yet, people here still got on him for his K rate. Yes, because his OBP was still only .308

Doesn't Bochy have the largest head in baseball?

Say "Hi!" to ARow, Drop off Crede, Pick up Cain
Now DJ is talking about Floyd being "unhittable" in the AZ Fall league a couple of years ago. His 5+ ERA there would suggest otherwise.

I was watching the WS DVD this morning. AJ's jowels have shrunk considerably.

Say "Hi!" to ARow, Drop off Crede, Pick up Cain
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 03:20 PM) I really can't believe KW didn't acquire another starting pitcher this offseason. I was shocked myself. If Floyd and Danks are as good as he thinks, then they should give him a lifetime contract. If not, I hope those that give him all the credit for what goes right, and blame someone else for things that go wrong, take notice.

One of the many things that bother me about Floyd is you look at him on the mound and he looks like he's about to hurl, and I don't mean pitch.

2008 White Sox Catch-All Thread
That first trip into Detroit is going to be a good measuring stick as the Sox will face Robertson, Willis and Verlander. 2 lefties and a stud.

Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
Ramirez has been impressive the couple of times I have seen him this spring, but I think realistically when the games count, he's more Pablo Ozuna at this point than Alfonso Soriano which really isn't too bad. He gets some more strength and who knows. Its a nice gamble considering they really didn't throw out too much cash.

Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) Um, how is my disappointment that the Sox lost 4.5 million on him based on his DFA b****ing and moaning about Uribe being on the team? It's the OPPOSITE, and I think that should be clear as day to see. A stupid comment indeed. He wasn't DFA'd. In fact, if the report today is true, and somebody claimed him, KW didn't want to give him away and save the money. He wants a player back.

Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 05:23 PM) Uribe is in the game line up on Thursday. According to Cowley's blog, Uribe has been pulled off waivers. He also said a trade may be in the works, but it may have fallen apart. Nice reporting Joe.

Would JR ever say this???
Should and would are very different. He wouldn't open his books. And he shouldn't open his books. What the White Sox make or don't make is really nobody's business but the shareholders.

Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 10:47 AM) The sox were so sour on him, that they traded their top trading chip and picked up his replacement. If they were so sour on him, they would never have re-signed him, but ignore the facts, back to your Uribe weight bashing.

Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
How does everyone know Ramirez isn't the same way?

Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 07:30 AM) I hate to say it, but it makes sense. Might as well see who wants him. He's played well this spring. If there ever was a time from when he was signed until now when someone would be willing to take the entire contract, you have to figure now is the time.

Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
According to Ozzie in the Uribe status uncertain column on whitesox.com, Uribe is on waivers to gauge interest, not to be released. He also said Ozuna looks like the starter opening day because of his success vs. Sabathia.

Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
Manny Ramirez was placed on irrevocable waivers a few years ago and any team could take him if they picked up his contract. Nobody claimed him so he remained in Boston. I have the feeling the White Sox didn't waive Uribe for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release because if they did, I believe he would have packed his bags by now. Its probably the same situation. You can have him if you take the contract. If you don't want to pay the entire thing, he'll probably stay put.

Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
Richar is supposedly going to get an MRI on his back. Maybe Pablo is leading off at 2B on opening day.

2nd Base job
The good news is MacDougal has been good his last few outings, and Thornton has been better than last season. If Dotel and Linebrink live up to the hype, the bullpen should go from terribly pitiful to a strength. But the long man is a concern. I think Masset will win by default unless he has a couple of more outings like today.

Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 06:13 PM) According to Levine, if noone claims him the Sox can either release him or leave him on the roster as if nothing happened. And the last time the White Sox ate $4.1 million was................................... If nobody claims him, he'll probably be in Cleveland March 31.

Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
QUOTE(Wanne @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 06:08 PM) Hence the word: irrevoccable Irrevocable is for the waiver part. You would use revocable waivers to guage interest. If someone claimed him, you would lose him now. Revocables you can pull back. The Tribune is now reporting that Juan knows nothing about the waiver deal, and plans to travel with the team to Phoenix tomorrow, so they must be the same as Ramirez. If nobody claims him, I believe he's still a White Sox. Yes.

Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
Are these the same waivers Manny Ramirez was placed on? Is it a certainty if he's not claimed he will be released?
-
Juan Uribe Placed on Waivers
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 05:47 PM) According to Levineline they are irrevoccable waivers. So Juan Uribe-----------he gone. My list of guys gets smaller, a lot smaller.

Pods Returns, Let the Celebration Begin!
I just hope if BA gets his deserved spot on the team, they don't rot him on the bench like last year. You want to talk about players being stunted. If that's what they have in mind, they should do him a favor and trade him for garbage to the Marlins or something where he could play.
