Griffey Rumor
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) ...so you're saying we got a chance! Kudos for quoting on of the greatest movies of all-time.

Griffey Rumor
Griffey is not coming to the White Sox.

Griffey Rumor
Griffey says he hasn't talked to anyone with the Reds about a trade. Levine said Griffey told the Sox he was flattered but wanted to stay in Cincinatti. Levine said a week or so ago the Sox and Konerko were close on an extension, the Tribune has an article about Konerko's contract status and it said no negotiations have or will occur until the season is over. Levine said the Sox and Cubs would do nothing at the trade deadline. They were not earth shattering deals, but both teams made moves. Levine said there was no chance Freddy Garcia would sign an extension with the Sox, because he wanted to test free agency. He signed an extension a couple days later. Levine said he would stake his reputation on the Sox signing Omar Vizquel. Vizquel signed with San Francisco. Levine reported AJ Burnett to the Sox was pretty much a done deal. The teams were never close. I have no idea why a station would actually pay this guy money to be an "insider". He is a joke. I would like to propose a ban on Bruce Levine information, unless it is also being reported somewhere else. He is far too inaccurate.

Count or Loiaza?
QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) E-Lo is having a solid year. Maybe looking at 12-14 wins if he were on a team with a better offense. Same can be said with count. It is a toss up between the two right handers in last year's trade. But, I have to lean towards Count. They have similar #'s when you compare an AL pitcher to a NL pitcher. Count also has a higher ceiling (even at 33 years old) and has the potential to show flashes of dominance. Looks pretty even. Count should have a couple more victories, he also probably has a better upside, although EL had a magical year in 2003 that would be hard for anyone to duplicate.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:59 PM) What a disaster this could turn out to be. I can't believe he lifted Jenks for Marte. He did give up a swinging bunt

Brilliant Ozzie, just brilliant

Mike Morse up.

Game Thread vs Seattle Aug 27th @ 9:05
If this game goes extra innings, the Sox are pretty much screwed.

Just think about the big picture, or about today, whatever is the philosophy being used tonight.

Here comes Marte.

Game Thread vs Seattle Aug 27th @ 9:05
The White Sox would never have got that bunt down.

One good thing is a good heater is tough to bunt.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) We definitely got lucky there. Bad slide by Ichiro. He looked like he was running in quicksand going around 3rd as well. I was shocked they had a play, I would have thought Ichiro would have scored easily.

They have given Anderson some pretty tough match-ups his first couple weeks in the major leagues.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) Not so sure AJP tagged him on that play. I'll take it though...about time we got a call at the plate. He was definitely out according to my TIVO

Cotts is a much better match-up for Sexson, but they still have the lead. Leave Jenks in.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) Great job by Cotts there. Will Ozzie bring in Jenks to face Sexson? I'd of let Cotts face Sexson. Righties aren't hitting much off him, and I'd bring Jenks in to handle the ninth.

AJ should have let it drop. They had an easy force at 3rd and 2nd.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) Cotts has had a longer break than most summer vacations. George Bush is jealous of the length Cotts' vacation.

QUOTE(brijames @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) when did Cotts last pitch? seems like a long time. It will probably effect his control.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) 93 pitches I'm sorry but 90% of managers don't pull their starter after 93 pitches in the 8th after giving up 2 runs. Contreras is different. His tiring has nothing to do with pitch count. I really think with him it has to do with innings. Anytime he gets into the seventh, he should be yanked the first sign of trouble.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) Way to give the Mariners all the momentum in this game. We try to get way too cute sometimes. Exactly. Double steal with Blum and Dye is questionable at best. You are far better off putting on a safety squeeze in that situation.
-
Game Thread vs Seattle Aug 27th @ 9:05
It would be huge to score here. As the Sox handle the double steal like a little league team.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) Nelson in to face Uribe. Be aware....these swings by Uribe might cause you to spit your drink out. Uribe is going to drive home the run.
