The defense was worrisome but I am going to take this to be more like college. The difference between game 1 and game 2 will probably be very noticeable. Not playing any preseason games, as worthless as they might seem, has to have some sort of effect. I think the Bears defense plays a whole lot better next Sunday. Hopefully Mitch continues to play as well as he played vs. the Giants 1st string as he did against the Lions 3rd string corner. For the first 3 quarters it was the Mitch we have come to know. But he was pretty awesome in the 4th albeit vs guys deep on the depth chart. But he did make some nice throws.

Bears go for it 4th and 7 from the 35. Mitch had been OK until this pass, about 4 feet behind the receiver.

The Sox are going to make the playoffs, but more important than winning the division or even coming in second, is lining up the rotation for round one. If it is lined up for round one, it will probably be lined up for round two.

I just read something in the Tribune. The Bears were undefeated last year when their offense scored a TD in the first half. They only did it 5 times.

You are getting what you need out of Colome, but losing Bummer is going to hurt, and Cishek being meat is going to take its toll. Also, Jimmy Cordero as an every day guy might work for a week or two, but it isn’t going to last, The bullpen has outperformed its talent level, and things are regressing back to the mean IMO. Maybe Rodon can help if he gets back. Maybe Lopez becomes a scary reliever. But they were probably OK with everything working out. Cishek and Bummer not contributing is hard to overcome , although they have overcome for quite a while.

Patrick Finley thinks it is very unlikely the Bears bring Prince or Ha Ha back. Says moving on from them was an easy call after last season.

I still think if JR is willing to pick up money, you will be able to get a really good , expensive player for not much. The owners have to at least fake being broke. I also read there are going to be 300 + non tenders this winter.

The only future core players Theo moved were Cease, Eloy and Gleybar Torres. If that is putting your chips in the middle of the table, I'm glad Hahn was out. Theo still is afraid to move any of his original core, even after stating last year, someone is going to go.

He has sucked, but he's a better piece to throw in the bullpen than Flores. I am not a fan of this move.

8-24 with 4 homers is enough of a sample size to get penciled into the line up. That said, b****ing about the line up usually means a lot of runs scored.

It got to the point KW literally called him a pussy. It turned out, however, he needed elbow and shoulder surgery.

He does, but at least they don't need much offensively from him now. Just play good defense, don't make dumb mistakes on the bases, and everything should be OK. This is the role he has always been cut out for. If the Sox could have signed him for what they are paying him, Leury might not be here, or Mendick would have really gotten to know the best places Grubhub delivers from in Schaumburg.

Mendick needs a break. They talk about how he's a contact guy, he has struck out 8 time the last 3 games. Give him a break and pick his spots. That is when he can shine.

Playing guys more tends to make them come back to normal. See Mendick, Danny. McCann's performance, and the team's record compared to his historical performance, could indicate he is being used optimally.
