  1. He is actually quite hated by many who played for him.
  2. Bob Nightengale deserves some apologies. What a lost opportunity. Seriously, how often does a team that should win 90 + games a year for many years have a managerial opening? It has to be one of the most attractive jobs ever, and they hire this relic? If RH is totally against this and the mlb burner guy is legit, I will have more respect for him if he does quit than any other sports executive ever. When will Tony bring Bobby Knight to spring training to observe and tell him how to keep Eloy and TA in line? i am so disgusted. But this is on JR. If it doesn’t work, he deserves every pot shot he gets.
  3. I have been saying this for months. If you are willing to spend some cash this offseason, you can make a bad team good, and a good team great pretty easily.
  4. When Tony was fired by Hawk, it was way before social media and the internet. The general consensus wasn't OMG how can you let this genius go. It was what took so long?
  5. ESPN now remembers the Sox exist and have them #5 on their too early power rankings. They could do better than Tony.
  6. Serious question, what inside info has bucket provided that turned out to be accurate the last decade?
  7. With all the Zoom calls I don't think the interviews would leak much. Especially if the Sox don't want them to leak.
  8. If LaRussa is hired, one thing everyone knows, it is his job until he doesn’t want it or JR is out of the picture. No way he is on board with firing him twice.
  9. The last job of any responsibility Tony had was running the DBacks, and they were run into the ground. The guy he hired to run their analytics department was a Veterinarian who Tony met when the guy was trying to rent him an apartment when he first managed the White Sox. Then he hired Dave Stewart as his GM because he pitched for him. If this was 17years ago, I don’t like Tony from His first stint, but fine. Now? What a lost opportunity.
  10. The White Sox finally have the most attractive managerial job available on the planet, and they pick a 76 year old grumpy old man with some looks so natural no one can tell hair dye, who hasn’t managed the last 9 seasons. WTF? What you will see Tony does is what Ryan Pace does when he drafts an Adam Sheehan in round 2, he will always try to be the smartest guy in the room, and sometimes, when a simple move that someone coaching 8 year olds reading a Baseball for Dummies book could make, he will have to complicate that and it will blow up in his face.
  11. I just don’t see how JR will spend more money because LaRussa is managing. I think that is just not Steve Cishek trying to sound relevant after being so wrong again. No one should forget on the day we were all shocked RR was given the pink slip, Bob Nightengale had TLR as the favorite. It was his job if he wanted it. He was correct. Everyone who mocked him was wrong.
  12. A lot of this makes sense. I just think firing Ricky after making the playoffs for the first time in over a decade is so un White Sox. What would be bigger un White Sox is hiring a guy who is serving a season suspension for cheating to replace him. Maybe that was the ultimate plan but KW and RH threw out TLR to JR to get him to approve, thinking there is no way he would take the job, He did mention last year he was offered a job but turned it down because he couldn’t get Duncan to come back. They knew Duncan couldn’t do the job and Tony was a year older. Or maybe it is as simple as being overruled by your boss. Everyone with a boss has been there many times.
  13. They are going to use Tony being associated with the Red Sox as his recent championship experience, and then go back to his managerial record, which was good when his teams were stacked. I am old enough to remember and comprehend most of Tony’s first stint. And my take is I thought we were rid of this asshole 34 years ago. He will, assuming his brain hasn’t pickled, run a bullpen better than Ricky, but everything else? I think his “genius” was more being with the A’s when they were as loaded as can be, and the Cardinals when they made no roster mistakes than out dueling the other dugout. It is one thing being a sour puss 40 year old with big personality players who are established. I just hope his being so dour doesn’t take the joy guys like TA and Eloy seem to bring everyday away. Hawk gets kidded for his child like qualities line. But he has a point. It is a game. It is supposed to be fun. I hope Tony doesn’t try to make Eloy and TA act like Harold Baines. It isn’t who they are.
  14. Rickey Henderson had some nice bat flips. He hated LaRussa, and I think LaRussa hated him, but he put him in the line up and Rickey was pretty great.
  15. Maybe the Bears will bring back Ditka. He's old and ornery like LaRussa, and obnoxious with a ring, like Ozzie.
  16. That is the thing. JR already regrets firing him once. He will never fire him again. They hire Tony, he manages as long as he wants, results be damned.
  17. Yes. Bash brothers, Dave and Rickey Henderson. Eck on the mound. Some of the biggest showboats of their era. I don't think TLR would be so opposed to bat flips as long as TA performs. I wonder if Not Steve has the same source that told him LaRussa is nothing but a smokescreen telling him LaRussa would only manage if JR spends all of his money. LOL. I don't agree with Ron on much, but he did hit the nail on the head. The Sox finally have the premium job available, and they are going to blow it on a 76 year old guy who hasn't managed since 2011? That is crazy.
  18. The article Our Chuck had in a STL paper about Duncan was interesting. He has some physical issues, he doesn't think he would be able to go out to the mound. And the White Sox chopped him from the payroll as a Covid casualty. Although he did say if Tony gets the job, he may do something.
  19. What, this is about Covid. The administration is saying the pandemic is over. That is news.
  20. He's really hammered them already. He got the Chinese trade deficit down from $437 billion to $435 billion, and all it took was Americans paying more taxes, err tariffs on Chinese goods, and a big socialist bailout to the most well off farmers. BTW, the US trade deficit overall is up 20% during this administration's time.
  21. I also predict, if Trump is retained, he starts treating a lot more republicans like he treats democrats.
  22. I wouldn't bet too much.
  23. The White House released a list of POTUS accomplishments while in office. One was ending the pandemic.
  24. There is going to be chaos. A lot of people are talking about 2016 but the polls weren't so wrong back then. Clinton had more votes and it was within the margin of error. And the chances of that happening twice, seem quite small to me. It's like when the Sox had Boston down 2-0 in the ALDS. Just because the year before the Sawks came back from down 3-0 vs. the Yankees, people were saying they had them right where they wanted them. Not really. Trump eked out some swing state wins. I read where the polling is better now, but the mail in vote count is the big question, and ultimately there may be games played with electors. But there is virtually no chance Biden doesn't win the popular vote, and if it is played straight, probably very little chance he isn't the one elected. But unless it is a total blowout, there are going to be a lot of games played.
  25. Remember when Matt Nagy was thought of as an offensive guru? That was awesome.
