Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
Dick Allen replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As far as Sandy, he does have a body of work where the Sox can see how he runs a bullpen, and since he was a catcher, he should have a pretty good idea of what is proper and what is just stupid. -

I think it was just a nice way of saying the potential manager of the year has been fired. JR will pay him his money. He didn't make so much. It's either that or the Sox said for him to continue, someone else will be running the bullpen, and he didn't want that. -

As I have been saying for years, his bullpen management was always questionable at best, dating back to the Cubs days. As far as running the game goes, it's probably the biggest part of the job. The other stuff, he was really good. The players seemed to love him, but Rodon with the bases loaded for the first time in 2 months. Ruiz in a big time situation, and then get someone loose the first hit your starter gives up in game 3? I thought winning as many games as they did was probably enough to overcome it, but things are changing. The thing I don't understand is this is nothing new. Why now? -

You are probably right. When have the Sox given their new manager much leeway with their coaching staff? Looks like now they will. -

There will be some celebrating, but what comes next is the question. Is it Super Joe? I would think the Sox aren't going to bring in a big name, but firing Ricky after making the playoffs I would have put at 10,000 to 1, so all bets are off. -

I never was a RR guy, but to do this now seems almost unfair. You knew what he was. -

He would only be breaking his own record. He is a master at it. I swear, I know it is going to happen, and when he is done, I think I just learned a shitload. Then about 15 minutes later, I realize what he told me everyone already knew. -
But that was a different circumstance. They weren't a playoff bound team. I am not too upset he kept EE in the middle of the line up. He was a veteran with a history of big numbers, and a history of slow starts. A lot of big names had really bad years in this shortened season. He just never got out of it. It is as if the season ended June 1 of a normal year. Whether he is done, or just went through a rough patch, no one really knows, but it didn't get better making his fate easily decided. What would have been interesting is if he had monster numbers, then what do they do with Vaughn waiting in the wings?

I agree. Would there be coaching staff changes? Who are you going to can after 2020? Maybe Coop retires, that's it, and why retire when things are just about to go really well. I think RR has better job security than anyone posting on this board who isn't self employed. Besides, if it was a big change, chances are it would have leaked by now. -

No. Not needed. -
I am as big of Rodon fan as there is on this board, but unless he will sign for next to nothing, it’s time to move on. I’ve tried looking the other way too long. It is crazy to think he suddenly is going to be healthy and throwing strikes for a full outing, let alone a season.

Looks like Dak Prescott just Robin Ventura’d his right ankle.

White House refuse to let Coronavirus task force experts on the Sunday shows. One thing I wonder about Trump and now being for stimulus. If our country is coming back like nothing that has ever been seen before, he has a cure for the virus, everyone will get it for free, and it is going away anyway, why would a republican want to give $1.8 trillion away?

One not many ever mentioned was when someone would hit a foul ball down the line in the empty sections. He would say, the race is on, as a few people would be chasing down the ball. -
Where do you get your information? Pelosi has passed 3 bills. Two that the GOP in the Senate wouldn’t even consider. It seems kind of peculiar for a person that wasn’t serious about passing a bill to actually be passing bills. The myth of the great negotiator has been proven incorrect over and over again, yet some refuse to see it.

Getting the virus hasn’t helped his chin camel toe by his tie.

Trump is up to $1.8 trillion on the stimulus. Pelosi started at $3 trillion, and said she would make a deal at $2 trillion and was called crazy. Looks like she should have written the Art of a Deal.

I looked at the ISFA meeting from September. i like to see if they spill the beans on any capital projects. Ths year its mostly waterproofing and lighting in the offices. The one thing baseball related is a humidor. I think the league is trying to get all teams to use one. I wonder if it will suddenly decrease HR rates.

He was on with Rush Limbaugh today for 2 hours. At the end Rush said, "I know you have a jam packed schedule". Really? Who could get away with a 2 hour phone call at work? So obviously still sick.

I think if his doctor gives him the OK to be out of isolation, he should have to hang around and monitor him without any PPE, and no one in the WH or Trump family, Lindsay Graham and the rest of his enablers should not be allowed to wear any PPE around him either.

Trump said his miracle cure Antibody cocktail, which cost more than $100,000 is something he suggested and will be available for free to everyone if re-elected. Alrighty then.

I must be crazier than Balta because I think you need to live like if you catch this virus, you will die. Granted, you probably won’t but you will pass it on to someone who might or they will pass it on to someone who might. Eventually someone will. So thinking that way, I don’t have to go out to drink wine with my family because there is a nice view. I can wait until we get things under control for that.

It's not a very good job, but it is a job, I will give you that. But, if you are paying someone that little, you should probably assume their employment will be very short term.
