  1. Lance Lynn really limped home in 2020. His FIP was 4.19. The Rangers aren't going to get more for him than they turned down at the deadline. Only less. They blew it.
  2. While I agree, LaRussa would be a terrible choice, I do think he would probably be better than had the Sox stuck with Ricky. He wouldn't be all hunched over during an entire playoff game.
  3. LaRussa hired a 66 year old ex veterinarian and stock trader and White Sox fan who he met when looking for an apartment when he managed the White Sox, to run the analytics department in AZ when he ran the DBacks. Granted, if he was managing the team in 2020 and the Sox were facing Barrios, I am sure McCann would have been in the line up at least once, but Tony isn’t exactly married to advanced metrics.
  4. My brother and sister in law live in Switzerland. She just came into town a couple of weeks ago and went back on Monday. When she gets back, she has a 10 day quarantine where she cannot leave her house. My brother can go out as long as they sleep in separate rooms and remain socially distanced in their apartment. They own a place in Paris they cannot go to because they would have this same quarantine every time they returned.
  5. Joey Gallo high OBP? His career OBP is .009 higher than Nomar Mazara’s.
  6. I agree. You don’t interview LaRussa for him to come in second place in the interview process. Al Pacino doesn’t go to auditions. Hopefully he doesn’t want it, maybe HE could be a bench coach. But I am starting to get very uncomfortable with this.
  7. I don’t buy most of what Morosi says, but if this is true, I hope it doesn’t mean JR has a health issue. It is one way this makes sense.
  8. Trump gave a speech today and sounded horrible. He still has mucus in his lungs.
  9. He passed out drunk behind a wheel with his foot on the brake at a stop sign once.
  10. Hawk was openly courting Billy Martin right before he fired LaRussa. That was back in the day when you could do things a bit more discreetly than you can now. I remember watching the sports on the local news and they had footage of them meeting at a O'hare hotel.
  11. If LaRussa got the job, what is the over/under on how many games it takes before he takes a nap in the dugout?
  12. I mentioned yesterday that they may be using LaRussa as a smokescreen and to get people off of caring much about Hinch's scandal. The more I think about it, there is no way JR would let Tony be used that way. This has to be legit interest.
  13. AJ Hinch has 3 100 win seasons in a row. He isn't taking a bench coach job. This isn't a guy who needs seasoning.
  14. He was with Arizona , hired Dave Stewart as the GM and ran them into the ground. He was with Boston as Dombrowski hired him. He was let go. Then he was with the Angels this year. They were horrible. He's like a 45 year old boxer. He should have given it up when he first gave it up.
  15. He has always had guys play crazy additional positions. I don't think you would see Greg's dream and have TA catching, but you may see Moncada in RF or even Abreu. He had Mike Squires a lefty, GG quality 1B, play 3B and C.
  16. Is that why they sent Coop packing and no one else? This is scary. Hopefully, Tony tells these guys he's 76 years old and doesn't need this anymore, and remembers when Hawk fired him, no one though Hawk was an idiot to do so.
  17. I don't really know why so many people bash Bob. He does have a lot of White Sox stuff. Who else has LaRussa stuff. And last winter, he was as accurate as any of the experts.
  18. Actually, I kind of agree with him there, but I will take it a step further. If you are at the point you have to ask a pitcher how they are feeling, it is time to take them out of of the game.
  19. I am older than most here and I saw LaRussa manage the Sox for a few years. There was nothing that made him exceptional. Firing him was something you heard on the few sports talk shows and in newspapers at the time, all the time. I think his winning was more the product of his organization. Who wouldn't have won with the rosters he had? I wouldn't have much age bias if he were 65, but if you listen to interviews with him, he has certainly slowed down, and he is 76. I was happy Hawk canned him. I think Fregosi was just as good, and when the team got good, I don't think LaRussa could have handled them any better than Torborg. He has only been out of managing 1 more season than Ozzie, but I really think they have to go with a younger guy. Hinch's cheating is really a problem for me, but if he can overcome that, he certainly has to be more desirable than Tony. Who knows, maybe playing the LaRussa card was the only way KW and RH could convince JR to send Ricky away.
  20. The White Sox lost 2 games in Cleveland they should have won in the 9th and 10th innings with Ruiz and Gonzalez pitching. With 28 man rosters, in a series that big, where as it turned out 1 win would have meant winning the division, having your worst 2 pitchers on the mound in that situation is inexcusable. I could see if it was the 12th inning or later, but not the 9th or 10th.
  21. Bauer shouldn't be so easily triggered or people are going to really start trying to get him to snap.
  22. If Roberts can't win with the Dodgers roster, I don't know how you would expect him to win with the White Sox roster.
  23. There was a 20% increase in death between March and July in the US this year. 67% of those deaths were attributed to Covid 19. So anyone thinking the Covid death rate is way overreported and also used for fraud are wrong again.
  24. Bochy has managed 25 seasons and is under .500 for his career. His teams have won 90 or more games 4 times in those 25 years, and he is 65. I believe his time has passed.
