The problem now with the vaccines is how few will actually take them. Between anti-vaccers and those who do not trust the government approval system, to get half of the population vaccinated is going to be pretty tough.

The White Sox are already on record they are never going to fire Coop. He will retire some day, maybe soon, but I doubt it will be before they have a couple more seasons where they should be good, unless his health goes to pot. And Hassler is his replacement. It has already been determined. So if you think the Sox are going to fire Coop and replace him with some 35 year old guy who is all about spin rate, you don’t read what they have already told you.

So Tex, this is why there has to be shutdowns. Not everyone is responsible and when POTUS is one, it emboldens many others. Any hope that Trump getting Covid might spark more responsibly is out the window. Watch all the praise he gets for risking Secret Service lives.

Once he went on oxygen, power needed to be transferred. It isn’t going to happen because that might be considered a sign of weakness, and this is a dick measuring contest, not an exercise to keep the country as safe as possible, but it should have happened. This is a guy who mocked Hillary Clinton for almost collapsing when she had pneumonia, and whose rally crowd laughed and applauded the mockery. So transferring power while he is conscious will never happen.

The other guy who really might have a huge problem is Chris Christy. Not only is he severely overweight, he also has asthma. And they haven’t announced Biden’s test results yet.

This is no surprise. How do you think this administration would respond? Perhaps all the lies and misinformation are finally catching up to them. But his response, and the fact that Trump exposed all those donors, some who paid $250k to this virus knowing Hope Hicks had it and he might, is all business as usual. Par for the course. The guy doesnt care about his biggest donors. Just their money.

I get the innocent before proven guilty angle, but c’mon man. She was trying to get a restraining order against him. She is dead in her bedroom. He was seem coming out of her bedroom with a gun. He went to the Grand Canyon and shot himself. We aren’t a jury. This is pretty obvious. Your sympathy is misguided. It should be toward the victim. if she were harassing him,why would he go over to her home. Why would he follow her to her bedroom? Charlie didn’t have the guts to face the consequences of his actions.

That is why government has to step in with bailouts. The more everyone would be on board with a shutdown and wearing masks, the shorter the pandemic will last. It is really interesting how mask wearing goes. I live in the Gold Coast, and have frozen my gym membership until this passes, so I do a lot of walking and bike riding to get some exercise. Around me, most people wear masks. Go up to Armitage and the shopping area between Halsted and Racine, you wouldn’t know there is currently a pandemic. No one wears a mask. They hold them. That is a mile and a half apart. Go up to Lakeview, and it’s a mixed bag with most wearing them. It is really weird. Wearing a mask is easy. Everyone wants this to go away. Putting it on will make that happen a lot faster, but no. I don’t get it.

Sox should replace Renteria with Ozzie Guillen
Dick Allen replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Scottie Pippen quit on the Bulls infamously, then came back and won 3 championships. I am not so concerned with Ozzie quitting on the Sox, which he did, but the season was basically over, and there was some infighting. That said, no way for a return. We know how it got. It will all be about Ozzie, and when it’s not, it will be about Oney or Ozney. I will leave Jr. out of it, as he always seemed to be the least entitled offspring. And if you are all about analytics, Ozzie hates them more than Hawk. His time has come and gone. The Marlins of all teams, paid him for 3 or 4 years not to manage. That tells you a lot. JR is on record Ozzie will not manage the White Sox as long as he owns the team. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/chicago-white-sox/reinsdorf-ozzie-guillen-cant-come-back-white-sox-manager -
The photos of Trump “working” in the hospital were definitely staged. For one thing he does wear reading glasses and there were non in sight. And the “document” he was signing was zoomed in on, and was a blank piece of paper. It is hard to imagine they wouldn’t think they would be so easily busted on this.
-
No. He refused to answer if he was on oxygen, which he was. His timeline suggested something totally different, then he went back and changed it. Get someone from the hospital to speak, not someone who is catering to Trump. I thought Trump doesn’t want to “panic” the country. All this misinformation does is panics the country. Mark Meadows contradicted the doctors comments moments after they were said. You cannot believe anything that doctor says.

He said there was something going on. There is a lot all of us can criticize RR for, but lifting him was the correct move.

It isn’t necessarily what you do at the bar. It is what everybody does at the bar. And especially after a couple of cocktails, even the most responsible people let their guards down. I understand wanting to help a business out, that is where to go and some government help should come in. Even doing what you are doing , with it at 25-50% capacity in most states, it’s just a matter of time until they can’t fight the landlord and other creditors off. I think the restaurant business is going to get real ugly in a couple of months without a big bailout. Chains are going to be 90% of the remaining business.

If there is something messed up right now, he will miss next season anyway. If they think rest will fix it, they will know probably before spring training if it worked. If he needs surgery and has it by February, chances are he will lose no more time than if they operate now. This isn’t like if it happened next April and they decided to try rest and have that fail. Hopefully he is fine and this was a bit of a false alarm.
-
Yes. He looked a little pale, but wasn’t using his bronzer. He sounded OK. Maybe slightly raspy, but didn’t seem to be out of breath. We will see. Everything is such a show, it’s hard to know what to believe. The doctors on TV say the meds can mask the symptoms but they could come back.
-
Frankly with how the owners are crying poor, and really no idea how 2021 will go, If I was an agent of a free agent that wasn’t a top guy, and they had reasonable offer early, I would advise him the offers probably aren’t going to go higher as the winter progresses.
-
That’s fine. Sox offer him his market value or slightly below, if he doesn’t take it, he gets non tendered, and you look for someone else. Since the market will be flooded, the Sox can take their time with this. They don’t need a middle of the order hitter, but should take one if one falls into their lap. At this point, there is no need to spend a lot of money on RF. There are bigger needs. This team only had 2 starting pitchers it trusted enough to give up 1 run in the playoffs, and they still were 1 win from winning the division.
-
He waits the entire offseason, his price will only go down.
-
He knows he won’t get anything near $6 million on the open market. I wouldn’t offer him arb, but I think if he wants to be a White Sox it shouldn’t be too much trouble.
-
The only thing I could think of actually having Rodon pitch to him was the intentional unintentional walk. But for all we know Hard Carl might have thrown one to the backstop. The walk was Renteria’s best move of the day.
-
He won’t require $6 million. If he does, let him go, but I certainly wouldn’t give Joc Pederson more.
-
Plus with Vaughn and Abreu, DH is spoken for.
-
Where we are on the calendar, there really is no rush. If they think he can rehab it, this happened at a good time. If it is determined during his offseason program or in spring training he needs surgery, he won’t miss mor than he would miss if they operated tomorrow.
-
And Mazara put up an .844 OPS vs. RHP his age 24 season. Over .780 his age 23 season, and will only be 26 next year. He was bad, but he was sick. I would rather spend any money on pitchers. The offense is going to be fine. Moncada, Robert, Eloy, are going to be better. Madrigal will be fine. TA is TA. Grandal will be fine. Vaughn will have more production than EE. Abreu will probably come down a little bit, but there is more than enough to cover. If you aren’t bringing in a star, or getting just a great buy low deal, I don’t know why Joc Pederson is the answer.
