Luis Robert injured himself stealing second during spring training 2018. Look at his minor league numbers that year. Look at his minor league numbers the next season. Look at his major league numbers this season. If he gets hurt stealing second, it would be one of the most expensive steals in team history. And that is if he is successful stealing. Outs would hurt, especially with the current Sox line up when being at first is being in scoring position.

I just hope Moncada can snap back pretty quickly. It seems the Sox are at least slightly skeptical about his injuries. Once that starts, it usually only gets worse and the player becomes trade bait. I know he worked very hard during the offseason trying to avoid hamstring issues. But something is going on, and he seems more bothered by it than it seems the Sox think he should.

It's not a playoff team because you told us so one minute after the first game of the season.
-
You do know stealing bases is in addition to tagging on flyballs, many times that don't include slides. Again, Luis Robert screwed up his 2018 season stealing 2nd during a spring training game. The object is to score runs. At this moment one AL team has scored more runs than the Sox. Tampa has scored 4 more runs, but they have played one more game. It doesn't appear not stealing a lot has hurt the team.

Sliding and extra 50 times a season does a number on your legs.

If there is one thing you can be certain, Bruce Levine sent out that thing by accident.

Who cares? Seriously, after one game you had to make a thread, this isn't a playoff team period. Your punching bag is an MVP candidate. The team is in first place and you are complaining about not stealing bases? Just remember, Robert got hurt in spring training a couple of years ago stealing a base, and it wasn't a headfirst slide many claim. Do you not think the team is scoring enough runs?

Go Hawks.

I agree, there is no reason to threaten him. Unfortunately, that is where we are at today. That said, he did himself no favors by continuing to insist he was right, and taking a challenge. His reputation is ruined. That should be enough though for others, but when you are on the internet, you can be a real tough guy.

Cishek had been a little better lately. They gave him the assignment they expected him to handle when they signed him yesterday. One really bad pitch, and he blew it.
-
Yes, they should be tandem starters like Gonzalez and Lopez were supposed to be. Let the first one go 2 or 3, and the second one go 2 or3 and flip the line up, leave 3 or 4 for the bullpen. Not a bad way to use the 5th starter spot.

It's a lot of work being a fake insider. Maybe not Steve was getting sick of it. If this one worked out, he could rest on his laurels a bit, if not, it was a good run, time to fake something else.

It's only 7 fewer starts. A playoff start or 2, I will give you, but I am sure owners are worried there might not be fans in the stands for at least a portion of next season. If they get some clarity on that over the winter, someone may bite.
-
If it does, good thing the Sox didn't meet the asking price.

The Rangers beat guy says he is staying.
-
Go kick the Twins collective asses.
-
When he would come in from the bullpen for the Sox last year, our section would yell Oh shit.
-
I do think a beat writer or two expected the Sox to get a pitcher. They still might.
-
If the Sox had to trade Kopech or Cease or Vaughn to get Lynn or Clevinger, I am glad they are standing pat, if that is what they are doing.
-
That used to be a sign something was immanent

You were the first to let us know that this wasn't a playoff team. Now with 26 games left and only a 98% shot at the playoffs, we know they are going to need a lot of help to meet your expectations.
-
You need to relax Tom. You need some Tom time, a little TT.

I suspect if nothing that he can try to say was the trade happens, he will try to get off on a technicality, but he said it was done, and would be announced or at the very least leaked last night. Here we are a half hour from the deadline and still nothing. I suspect the Sox will make a trade. At this point I think agreeing to one last night is BS.
-
At the very least, he jumped the gun in a very big way. But a trade done yesterday with all these guys hitting up their sources every couple of minutes. Not leaking is a longshot. Plus he said he knew of no players, then threw out a name.
-
I could see that in the offseason but not with games going on, and only 26 left. You want your guy there as quickly as possible.
