  1. Burdi is probably the “corresponding roster move”
  2. Next thing you know, the dictators will close the barbershops.
  3. Vaughn is going to perfect for the Sox because unlike most of the others, he actually makes you throw him a strike. Scouts say he is Paul Konerko only better. I don’t see much chance he busts if he doesn’t get hurt.
  4. Actually his peripherals this year are some of the worst in his career. They still aren’t horrid, and he has been a lot better pitcher for quite a while than most probably realize. For a fair price, I agree, bring him on. But if they are going to have to send 3 or 4 of these guys that we have been watching horrible baseball for years to give them time to develop , it just isn’t worth it. Woodruff and Hader would be nice.Of the guys mentioned as available, I agree, Lynn would be my first choice, but the price is the problem. Maybe it gets to Monday afternoon and Texas says we have to dump him. They might get a little freaked. They held on to Mike Minor and got burned.
  5. Lynn could be great, but he is going to cost a ton in prospect capital. Plus you would have to expect some regression this season. He has had a real nice career, but nothing like the start to this season. So maybe he has a 4,50 ERA the rest of this season. Granted, you have him another season at a very reasonable rate, but he will be 34 and doesn’t exactly take much care of himself. I think the price will be too high.
  6. I would take him if the price was right. But he is now throwing 90 and has a track record of 7 good starts. The price shouldn’t be anywhere near Cease.
  7. Morosi is the worst. If the White Sox are looking for pitching of course they have asked about every available guy, and those are the 3 most mentioned. I read the Athletic and one of their guys claimed the price for Bundy could be Cease. That has got to be laughable. I wonder if the Cubs would take a prospect ranked around 15 for Q. Probably not, but if they are bleeding as much cash as they claim, the Sox should probably ask.
  8. It has been a huge year of death. Lute Olson died a couple of days ago. Former Portland Trailblazer Cliff Robinson died at 53. Played 18 seasons.
  9. It would be nice, but I certainly don’t see the value in trading Cease or Dunning and Stiever for Lance Lynn. Now is the time owners have been crying about their losses. Take on some money and keep the prospect capital. As we all know, you never have too much pitching, and a couple of these guys will be needed down the road even if the Sox have great health. No need blowing your wad on 2020. You are an ill timed Covid breakout from it being a waste anyways.
  10. Because if they start at 4 pm or 5 pm locally, shadows will make the first 3 innings useless.
  11. So it looks like they will play most of the playoffs in a bubble. All except the first round best of 3. The WS is going to be played in Arlington which makes sense since it is a dome. The bad news for most of us is if the Sox advance the AL playoffs will be in Southern California, which again, makes sense because of weather, but will probably mean late game times for those of us in the Midwest.
  12. Mendick has been very respectable as the 3rd second baseman. Can he keep it up once he is exposed? That is a big question, but choosing him over paying Yolmer was the correct move. I would prefer Madrigal.
  13. I could have sworn one of his hits before he was hurt was 110. It is amazing how many people don’t seem to want this kid to be successful just because Keith Law doesn’t think he will be. I doubt I can find it, but back when TA was a rookie, I mentioned how the ball seemed to really carry off his bat and I thought maybe some day he might be a 20-25 homer guy. There was a post telling me his exit velocities didn’t support that thought. Thinking a guy like Madrigal is a finished product will only make you look like you don’t know what you are talking about in the long run IMO. I think he is too clever and makes too much contact not to be really good.
  14. Madrigal hit one off the scoreboard in Schaumburg during a simulated game last night.
  15. Gonzalez will be gone for Dyson. Goins and probably Collins will be gone for Madrigal and Yolmer.
  16. And in the 8th and 9th inning with a lead, the Sox can have an OF of Dyson, Robert, and Engel. No one matches it. If the rosters were 26, I wouldn't want Dyson, but 28, he does serve a purpose as long as Ricky doesn't fall in love with him. But even then, with the Sox current roster, it would be very hard for Ricky to play him too much.
  17. He's a far better pinch runner than Goins, and if you get to extra innings, pinch runners have even more value.
  18. White Sox are selling $27 tickets to the no hitter.
  19. Goins is a 32 year old pinch runner with 6 career stolen bases. You really don’t need to know more than that.
  20. Sorry, Gonzalez is the next to go, then Goins.
  21. He will take Delmonico's spot when he's ready to go. I do agree, there is not much opportunity here. Surprised he came back actually. But it's for a month at best. The money is probably the same everywhere, he might as well go to something familiar.
  22. He's better than Goins. Yolmer is fine as a back up.
  23. Coronavirus has forced Pret a Manger to permanently close all of its Chicago locations except one at the University of Chicago. Too bad. Convenient, quick, good, and relatively healthy.
  24. At least they traded him. The Tigers ditched McCann with 2 years of control and half the price, so he must really suck. I would give this guy a break. He is 25 years old, was sick and fell behind. He isn’t alone struggling. He obviously has power but hasn’t shown it yet. It will eventually.
