8-23 GT: Sox @ Cubs (1:20pm)
Dick Allen replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2020 Season in Review
What is funny is Jerry Manuel was criticized for pulling Garland the first sign of trouble. Ozzie left him in and was given a ton of credit.(Garland was also a better pitcher then). Now managers are idiots for not pulling a guy the first sign of trouble. All in all a great series. Cease pitched really well, the Sox had their chances and it didn’t work out. Now destroy Pittsburgh on Tuesday. -
I am guessing you are just joking, because if not, this is one of the most classless posts of all time.

This will be a test for Robert. I still don’t understand why they throw him strikes. -

Only 3 of the Sox homers last night went at least 440. Let’s see if they can do something about that tonight. -
Madrigal is in Schaumburg right now. He will be the 2B, Mendick will be the back up IF. So Yolmer or Holt would be behind him.Unless there is another injury, with a little over one month left, hardly any opportunity.
-
Once Madrigal comes back, Mendick moves into the Goins role. So IDK if Holt or Yolmer would be very interested. Neither would play much if there isn’t an injury.

2019-2020 Official NBA Thread

I was never a big Wendell Carter lover, but the Boylen system didn’t exactly cater to his strengths. Same with Laurie. Laurie was a better player before Boylen ran the show. I expect improvement when someone who coaches to their players strengths gets hired. Lavine is fine. He just is miscast as a #1 option. He just doesn’t finish at the end of games. No need to get rid of him unless it is part of the coast to bring one of those players in. The problem is the Bulls still don’t really know what they have. As crazy as some of the stuff that went done was, that is the real problem with the Boylen era. It will be interesting to see what they do with their roster. I don’t know if much can be done this offseason with Otto Porter on the books, but I suspect when the Bulls are contenders again, not all of Lavine, Laurie, Wendell and Coby White will be on the roster. -
How much longer do you wait on EE and Mazara?

I think there would be. What wouldn’t have happened most likely is Grandal and EE being White Sox, and of course Mazara. 3 of the biggest punching bags so far. You would have an OF set for 6 or 7 years. 3/4 of an infield set for at least 4 or 5. A potential star 1B coming probably next year. You would have McCann catching . Basically your minor leagues would be used to develop pitching and trade chips. It still is impressive, but Harper would have made this line up unreal , and probably for a long time. Plus he would have been the lefty in middle of the line up. -

Could you imagine how insane the Sox line up would be if they had signed Bryce Harper? -

Around the league, there are a lot of guys putting up awful numbers right now. Gary Sanchez, Javy Baez., Cody Bellinger, Altuve, Semien... Chances are, EE isn’t a .156 hitter and Mazara actually has some pop. Odds are overwhelming that James McCann isn’t suddenly a .350 hitter. Ride the hot streaks, but usually things come back to or at least pretty close to the mean. The guys slumping will heat up, the guys on fire will cool off a bit. No need to panic . -

The Sox have hit a ridiculous amount of homers the last week or so. -

After having to deal with the crap they put on the field the past 7 seasons, we deserve a lot of nights like this. -

Don’t worry, next slump, he never got a big hit in his life and he should be arrested for dipping. -

They don’t have outfield lights so it is a bit darker, plus the new lights on the South Side are premium and make these look even worse. -

Sox playoff chances sit at 100%, 3rd in AL for WS odds
Dick Allen replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You look at the AL standings, a lot of bad is going to have to happen to the White Sox for them not to make the expanded playoffs. -
If you listen to it, he sounds almost angry saying it. Like there is an imbedded hatred. It wasn’t said lightly with a laugh like he was joking. The tone seems to indicate he has a huge problem with gay people. Probably would hide behind the faith curtain for that as well.

What is the reach? If Robert could go, Delmonico would be in Schaumburg, and if they are not trusting Luis Gonzalez to play MLB games, why is he not in Schaumburg. Maybe the plan all along was to start Dunning and send him back. But I would trust him a lot more than Gio Gonzalez at this point.
-
He is basically the end of the line Adam Dunn right now. Maybe slightly less power, and a few less strikeouts, but pretty similar overall.
-
Man of faith. Not who he is. Then why oh why did he say it while at work? He didn't seem to apologize to any of his co-workers who would have heard it. But once he found out it went out on the air, and people were calling for his job, oh so sorry. Everybody screws up. I just hate these cookie cutter "apologies". What he was sorry for was being caught. I'm sure it's not the first time he's said something similar. I don't really think this should cost him a career, but it should cost him his job and maybe his Fox football job. Let some other person "of faith" take over. I'm guessing they won't say what he say. He can do the faith thing for a while. Get some sensitivity training, and then look for a new gig, and if he's the best person for the job, the next team or network should have no problem hiring him.

I saw a poll today that claimed only 44% said they would get the vaccine.
