I wish the Big Hurt was on the pre and post game show more often. I love when he calls Robert Roberts. -

The guy is on a roll. Why take him out? The Sox have 2 off days this week. I am sure he will be fine. -
Grandal has supposedly been not so good but his current wRC + and OPS+ are higher than James McCann’s 2019 numbers.
-
I still think if JR is willing to pick up money, you will be able to get a really good , expensive player for not much. The owners have to at least fake being broke. I also read there are going to be 300 + non tenders this winter.

The only future core players Theo moved were Cease, Eloy and Gleybar Torres. If that is putting your chips in the middle of the table, I'm glad Hahn was out. Theo still is afraid to move any of his original core, even after stating last year, someone is going to go.

Reynaldo Lopez Optioned to Schaumburg
Dick Allen replied to MiddleCoastBias's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He has sucked, but he's a better piece to throw in the bullpen than Flores. I am not a fan of this move. -
A lot of Soxtalk GM's would never have signed McCann in the first place.

In a partnership with DraftKings, the Cubs are opening up a sportsbook at Wrigley Field. I am sure the Sox will follow at some point. Go to a game, place your bets. Get drunk. Come home either really happy or really pissed off.

Sox vs Twins 9/2/2020 Lopez vs Berrios 7:10 CST
Dick Allen replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2020 Season in Review
8-24 with 4 homers is enough of a sample size to get penciled into the line up. That said, b****ing about the line up usually means a lot of runs scored. -

He shouldn’t have dropped it, but if he didn’t and the umpire called him safe, it wouldn’t have been overturned. -

The prize of the White Flag Trade was supposed to be Barcelo. He was always saying something was wrong, and the medical people couldn’t find anything. They told him to pitch through it. It got to the point KW literally called him a pussy. It turned out, however, he needed elbow and shoulder surgery. -

He does, but at least they don't need much offensively from him now. Just play good defense, don't make dumb mistakes on the bases, and everything should be OK. This is the role he has always been cut out for. If the Sox could have signed him for what they are paying him, Leury might not be here, or Mendick would have really gotten to know the best places Grubhub delivers from in Schaumburg. -

Mendick needs a break. They talk about how he's a contact guy, he has struck out 8 time the last 3 games. Give him a break and pick his spots. That is when he can shine. -

Playing guys more tends to make them come back to normal. See Mendick, Danny. McCann's performance, and the team's record compared to his historical performance, could indicate he is being used optimally. -
He had a hand injury. It zapped his power.

Luis Robert injured himself stealing second during spring training 2018. Look at his minor league numbers that year. Look at his minor league numbers the next season. Look at his major league numbers this season. If he gets hurt stealing second, it would be one of the most expensive steals in team history. And that is if he is successful stealing. Outs would hurt, especially with the current Sox line up when being at first is being in scoring position.
-
I just hope Moncada can snap back pretty quickly. It seems the Sox are at least slightly skeptical about his injuries. Once that starts, it usually only gets worse and the player becomes trade bait. I know he worked very hard during the offseason trying to avoid hamstring issues. But something is going on, and he seems more bothered by it than it seems the Sox think he should.
-
It's not a playoff team because you told us so one minute after the first game of the season.
-
You do know stealing bases is in addition to tagging on flyballs, many times that don't include slides. Again, Luis Robert screwed up his 2018 season stealing 2nd during a spring training game. The object is to score runs. At this moment one AL team has scored more runs than the Sox. Tampa has scored 4 more runs, but they have played one more game. It doesn't appear not stealing a lot has hurt the team.
-
Sliding and extra 50 times a season does a number on your legs.
-
If there is one thing you can be certain, Bruce Levine sent out that thing by accident.
-
Who cares? Seriously, after one game you had to make a thread, this isn't a playoff team period. Your punching bag is an MVP candidate. The team is in first place and you are complaining about not stealing bases? Just remember, Robert got hurt in spring training a couple of years ago stealing a base, and it wasn't a headfirst slide many claim. Do you not think the team is scoring enough runs?
-
Go Hawks.
-
I agree, there is no reason to threaten him. Unfortunately, that is where we are at today. That said, he did himself no favors by continuing to insist he was right, and taking a challenge. His reputation is ruined. That should be enough though for others, but when you are on the internet, you can be a real tough guy.

Cishek had been a little better lately. They gave him the assignment they expected him to handle when they signed him yesterday. One really bad pitch, and he blew it.
