  1. Yes. He looked a little pale, but wasn’t using his bronzer. He sounded OK. Maybe slightly raspy, but didn’t seem to be out of breath. We will see. Everything is such a show, it’s hard to know what to believe. The doctors on TV say the meds can mask the symptoms but they could come back.
  2. Frankly with how the owners are crying poor, and really no idea how 2021 will go, If I was an agent of a free agent that wasn’t a top guy, and they had reasonable offer early, I would advise him the offers probably aren’t going to go higher as the winter progresses.
  3. That’s fine. Sox offer him his market value or slightly below, if he doesn’t take it, he gets non tendered, and you look for someone else. Since the market will be flooded, the Sox can take their time with this. They don’t need a middle of the order hitter, but should take one if one falls into their lap. At this point, there is no need to spend a lot of money on RF. There are bigger needs. This team only had 2 starting pitchers it trusted enough to give up 1 run in the playoffs, and they still were 1 win from winning the division.
  4. He waits the entire offseason, his price will only go down.
  5. He knows he won’t get anything near $6 million on the open market. I wouldn’t offer him arb, but I think if he wants to be a White Sox it shouldn’t be too much trouble.
  6. The only thing I could think of actually having Rodon pitch to him was the intentional unintentional walk. But for all we know Hard Carl might have thrown one to the backstop. The walk was Renteria’s best move of the day.
  7. He won’t require $6 million. If he does, let him go, but I certainly wouldn’t give Joc Pederson more.
  8. Plus with Vaughn and Abreu, DH is spoken for.
  9. Where we are on the calendar, there really is no rush. If they think he can rehab it, this happened at a good time. If it is determined during his offseason program or in spring training he needs surgery, he won’t miss mor than he would miss if they operated tomorrow.
  10. And Mazara put up an .844 OPS vs. RHP his age 24 season. Over .780 his age 23 season, and will only be 26 next year. He was bad, but he was sick. I would rather spend any money on pitchers. The offense is going to be fine. Moncada, Robert, Eloy, are going to be better. Madrigal will be fine. TA is TA. Grandal will be fine. Vaughn will have more production than EE. Abreu will probably come down a little bit, but there is more than enough to cover. If you aren’t bringing in a star, or getting just a great buy low deal, I don’t know why Joc Pederson is the answer.
  11. I wouldn’t be too surprised if they stuck with a Mazara/Engel/Leury platoon. I know Mazara had a bad year, but he was sick and never recovered. The season ended on what basically would have been June 1, over 100 fewer games than normal, and he was starting to show signs of coming out of it. You just have to be ignorant to think he doesn’t have more power than he provided. If you think Engel’s offense is real, and Vaughn is going to be with the team, a platoon in RF makes some sense because as long as Eloy and Robert are healthy, there isn’t much playing time in the OF. I don’t know why you want to pay Joc. How much better was he than Mazara in 2020 if 2020 stats are the end all? That said, this might be a crazy offseason. I read there might be over 300 non tenders. If JR is willing to spend money, there are probably guys available we wouldn’t think are available.
  12. I like Dunning’s and Cease’s chances next year a lot better than I like Gio Gonzalez’s this season. They got some more experience, Dunning will be stronger, he probably will show more of the command he was known for. With Cease, sometimes you have to be bad before you are good. All he needs is some command. Obviously that isn’t a little thing, but if he gets some, if he is at the bottom of your rotation, your rotation will be pretty good. And pitchers are going to get hurt. Hopefully all these guys come back next spring ready to go. Get some rest, have a normal offseason. Hopefully 2021 will be a full normal season.
  13. This is definitely a candidate for hot take of the week.
  14. Fox News had a doctor on that claimed there is no scientific evidence a mask does anything to prevent Covid spread. Alrighty then. Apparently, instead of putting an end to this pandemic, they would rather make it last longer and go down with the ship.
  15. Trumps new campaign manager has it.
  16. If Coop isn’t the White Sox pitching coach, Curt Hassler will be. RH has already stated that a couple of years ago. There is zero chance they fire him.
  17. Apparently at the Rose Garden event, guests were told they all tested negative and they could take their masks off. You wouldn't want the public to see people acting responsibly. That is some solid advice.
  18. Notre Dame's president has it now too. He was at the Supreme Court nomination event in the Rose Garden not wearing a mask, hugging people. Is it possible that was a spreader event?
  19. I think it was great journalistic work that got the Hope Hicks result, and then this one. if not for that, from what I have seen the last 4 years, I don't think the public would know of Trump's diagnosis yet. They would have to eventually. One thing this does do is probably save a few Wisconsin lives as he had 2 rallies tomorrow at this devestated state where ICU beds are running low.
  20. It was interesting what he said, because I never really thought of it. A guy warming up after 1 hit to start the game makes the team think the manager doesn't think his offense can score. And the funny thing is, there was nothing that happened in the top of the first that would make you think it was going to be a 2-1 game.
  21. On a bullpen day, it's best not to burn Crochet, Bummer and Heuer by the 4th inning, especially since Foster and Marshall have come back down to earth recently..
  22. It all doesn't matter much in the long run because if they only had 2 starters they trust for more than one or two baserunners, they were bowing out next round for sure.
  23. The Big Hurt said warming a guy up the second Dunning gave up 1 hit did two very bad things. It ruined Dunning's confidence, and it hurt the rest of the team's confidence. If the plan is to use 8 or 9 guys, chances are there are going to be a couple, if not more, that don't have it that day. You can't be afraid of 1 run in the first inning. If the plan was to use Crochet for a few innings early, why didn't they start him?
  24. With Robert in CF and Engel on the bench for the late innings, I am not too concerned the nextp Sox RF is gold glove quality.
