  1. I think they are using Bob with LaRussa to keep Hinch’s asking price down a bit. LaRussa? You have got to be bleeping me. It is scary they send Coop packing, is that to make room for Dave Duncan? If, for some reason this happens, they are going to have to fire Hahn and hire Hawk to be the GM, so someone can do the right thing and fire LaRussa.
  2. You look at Hinch's background, he is an advanced metrics team's wet dream as a manager. That said, he did cheat, or at least as a leader, he didn't stop it. That's a problem. Apparently not big enough to make him a non candidate.
  3. Matt Nagy is now the dean of Chicago professional sports franchises head coaches/managers.
  4. It wouldn't surprise me if the Sox already have an agreement with Hinch but can't announce it because of his suspension and have to fake interview a couple of minority candidates. Things were just too telegraphed towards him yesterday.
  5. I get the people that want this guy. I get the people who don't want the Sox to even consider him. The only people I don't get are those that think what happened with him doesn't matter at all. It should matter some, maybe not enough to say he shouldn't be a manager, but at least enough for you to weigh it for a little bit.
  6. AJ makes too much money with a part time broadcasting gig. Why would he want to take a paycut and work every day?
  7. I'm bothered but it won't make me protest and boycott White Sox baseball. I do think it's a pretty big managerial characteristic flaw he had, and I also don't think he is the reason they won 100 games a year, but if he can run a bullpen, we will be better off.
  8. This is easy to say now, but if the Sox won the division, the crazy stuff doesn't happen in Cleveland, and doesn't happen in the playoffs, there is no way RR isn't back. One more win, they win the division. He showed when the chips were down his way wasn't the right way.
  9. Just to be clear, I don’t have a problem with people here ripping him or fans calling into a radio show ripping him or sports talk hosts ripping him. That’s all part of the gig. Steve Stone is associated with the team, he should hold back.
  10. Joe Girardi and Joe Maddon didn’t exactly have the effect their teams were anticipating.
  11. RR is supposed to be a good guy. He very publicly lost his job. Kicking him while he is down doesn’t accomplish anything. I know in this day and age, letting everyone have it is what a lot of people like. I just think you can be a little classier about it.
  12. Stone was also really impressed with Rudy Jaramillo when the Cubs hired him. That didn’t last long, and no one wanted him after that. If it is Hinch fine. But I don’t think that guarantees the Sox 105 wins. I also think the cheating stuff is going to hang around him. But as long as he can run a bullpen, it will be an improvement.
  13. I think we get that. He doesn't have to keep pounding away.
  14. Here’s the thing, a mistake is letting it happen once.Letting it happen over multiple seasons isn’t A mistake.
  15. No matter who they hire, at some point he will be the biggest idiot in any team’s dugout.
  16. That is really harsh considering one more win and the Sox beat them this year. Stay classy Steve.
  17. I believe in second chances but you can’t ignore what happened. He was caught cheating. He knew of it and as the manager of the team didn’t stop it. That isn’t exactly a sign of good leadership.
  18. I think they probably already have spoken to Hinch and/or Cora.
  19. That is the one thing that as much as Hahn tried to spin and as good as he is in spinning it, he couldn't get it done. If he wants the new guy to have the latitude to hire his own staff, why didn't everyone "mutually part ways"? Only Coop. So Coop was clearly fired. There is no other explanation. It would have really been something if RH just said, hey you saw what happened in Cleveland and Oakland. They are lucky they weren't pulled out of the dugout mid game. The one coach Ozzie had to take was Coop. The one coach Ventura had to take was Coop. The one coach RR had to take was Coop. The one coach the new guy doesn't have to take is Coop.
  20. With Robert in CF, and Engel on the bench, they really don't need much defense in RF even with Eloy in LF. I would prefer someone a little better with the glove, but if it is Brantley and he hits, I think we will all live with it pretty well..
  21. It is interesting what someone posted earlier that signing AJ Hinch probably ends any Bauer talk, and maybe the White Sox think that is just as well. As great as he has pitched, he does have his warts. Maybe the Sox don't want to touch him with a 10 foot pole. This gets them off the hook for being too cheap to give him hundreds of millions of dollars, and they upgrade the dugout.
  22. He said he made calls to several players. TA was the guy who answered. But keep going with your Abreu bit. It never doesn't get old.
  23. There were a couple of games in Cleveland that give it a run for its money. Ultimately, it had to be what cost them. But the game 3 plan made no sense. Dunning starts, when he gives up a hit, get the bullpen going. What does that say to your team and your young pitcher? And if he is that iffy, why is he on the mound? The fact is, with the staff's confidence in starting pitching, the Sox would have maxed out beating Oakland. They don't advance again with 2 starters. Ricky has always managed a bullpen questionably. That was never going to change. Making the move now before it costs you a trip to the WS is probably smart.
  24. I think it means he's 84 and doesn't have time to mess around anymore. He seems to still have all his marbles, and seems healthy, but you never know when you get to that age. It's now or never.
