I do think there will be some players very reluctant to play, and wouldn’t be surprised if there is a season, several will sit it out.

BTW, these “dictators” if they are using the “president’s guidelines “ for opening up, are not opening up because according to those guidelines, they are not ready. If Trump has the ultimate power he claims, why doesn’t he force these states to open up? Quit buying the BS coming out of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Fred Willard, Phyllis George, Mike McCaskey. 2020 has been a bad year in so many ways.

I find it ironic you call the governors bullies when the biggest bully in history is in the WH. The reason we have to go through this is because of the very slow federal response. I read where if everyone wore masks and practiced social distancing the cases and death toll would be 12% of what the are. The only reason Trump is all about opening up is because his advisors at Fox News told him he has no shot of being re-elected if the economy is still in the gutter on Election Day. Things would go back to a lot closer to normal if you follow the science, but unfortunately people who supposedly have no jobs and have no money and are about to commit suicide, jubilantly packed bars and restaurants in Wisconsin. Do you really think they are going to prove the science wrong? Eric Trump said yesterday the Democrats cooked up Covid 19 to keep Donald Trump from holding his rallies. Apparently they organized it so well the rest of the earth agreed to participate. He said once Election Day comes and goes, the virus will magically disappear. These people are crazy.

Offseason 2019-2020 MLB Catch All Thread
Dick Allen replied to iWiN4PreP's topic in The Diamond Club
I just read something interesting. The way it is set up now, the highest paid MLB player in 2020 is going to be Prince Fielder who is owed $24 million. -
Actually, I respect public officials who care about my safety a lot more than public officials who only care about their election chances in 6 months. The funny thing is the administration was slow to act because they were worried about the stock market, now acting way too quickly for the same reason. Did you see the video of a reporter being hassled by people (great people POTUS tweeted) just covering their reopening? Those people were so great, one even made a hang Fauci sign. No need to listen to the science. The reason you are supposed to wear a mask isn’t to protect you, but to protect others. If you can’t be bothered to put one on. you have shown what you think of the others. Why weren’t you and the rest up in arms when Trump was on board with this social distancing, and the rest? Why wasn’t it dictatorship then? Why weren’t you pissed off airlines were losing money and people were losing jobs when Trump imposed his travel bans? if you really think just going back to normal can happen, you haven’t been paying attention, I live in Chicago. Cook County now has the most cases in the country. My safety as well as my asthmatic wife’s, and 82 year old father concerns me. Plus I am part of a community. I owe the people of my community the effort to do what I can do to halt the spread of the virus. I have been tested for the virus and antibodies and was negative with both. I had initially thought I would like to have been positive with the antibody test, but that would have meant I was walking around with it for a while and passed it on to others, and they would have passed it on, and who knows what my infection would have done. A doorman in my building in his 40s died because of Covid 19. I spoke to him his last day on the job, and he had no symptoms of being even slightly ill. A week later, he was dead.

I have come to the conclusion that people who refuse to wears masks don’t give a fuck about anyone but themselves.

Just act like it never happened and it will go away. But hey, there will be a vaccine by the end of the year, if not, no biggie, it will go away without it. And testing is way overrated. Sometimes you test negative several times, and then you take a test a few days later and it positive. What’s up with that? This is what Trump is saying. It really is unbelievable, but more unbelievable is there are millions who actually buy what he is selling.

Borrowing Trump's logic, we can cure cancer pretty easily. Just don't test people for it. It's gone.
-
It's pretty weird the Republicans seem to have a different opinion about being shutdown based on who they believe set it up. The first couple weeks when they thought Trump shut it down, even though it was the governors, they had no problem. They had no problem with Trump shutting down travel. What about their rights? It's really bizarre. Wisconsin is especially scary since it is a border state with IL, and no doubt there will be idiots crossing the border getting infected and bringing it back.
-
Dr. Trump has assured us this will just go away, vaccine or not. And a lot sooner than anyone thinks. He is the smartest person in the history of the world.
-
Trump has his boy in FL helping him out with the count. If the administration wants business as usual, they should operate the same way. The same amount of testing as the rest of us. Trump goes back to his rallies, no steps taken, and have a ball. The problem is they know if they do that, there is a decent chance Nancy Pelosi will be President in the next couple of months. If Tucker Carlson thinks working from home is crazy, he should grab his crew and go back to the office. This entire thing is about where the stock market (which is now totally disconnected from main street America) is around election day. That is what is making these people crazy.
-
I just don't get disrespecting the two months you have had to live like this to piss it away and go on like nothing happened. You just blew all sacrifice you have just made, and will have to do again. Tucker Carlson is really going at Fauci. His days must be numbered.

i want it locked down until it's safe. My wife has asthma. If she gets this, she could die. I don't need to risk going to a restauarant and trusting everyone is healthy and everything is clean. I am no germophobe, but this thing scares me. We need a lot more testing. Potentially putting your life in someone else's hands every time you go out is pretty scary. Would a parent send their child to school with what is now out there with kids? Chances are it won't happen to them, but what if it does? I just take all the people telling me to be a warrior and go out and risk my life, aren't willing to do the same.

Greg, have you ever noticed the TV personalities, the politicians who are telling everyone to act like this never happened and go back to their previous lives, are not practicing what they are preaching? Fox News works from home, and will for at least another month. To be in the same room as Trump, you require a test, although he thinks testing is overrated for everyone else.
-
While Fox News personalities tell their viewers to be patriots and go back to work, their studios will be closed and they will be working from home for the foreseeable future.
-
Because, if it was the other way around the owners don’t pay the players more money. If the Sox were expected to win 65 games and they won 95 and increased attendance, and concessions sales, and ad revenue on TV and the radio, JR doesn’t say, let’s split this extra cash up. He needs to take the no fan loss. I am sure there will be some negotiation to play, but there is no way the players are going to take a huge hunk of it.

The grocery stores and pick up restaurants by me now have signs that say you need a mask to enter. More people the last few days seem to be wearing masks, but there still are plenty who do not The people out for a run kind of scare me. I get running with a mask on would be kind of tough, but runners are breathing a bit harder than those walking, and running right by them seems like something could pop out of their mouth a bit easier with their heavier breathing.

Pence was going to step back for a couple of days with his press secretary having the virus, but I guess that would be a sign of weakness so he will be at the WH tomorrow.
-
The hypocrisy shown by the White House with their own Covid 19 outbreak should piss off even the most hardened we have to open now people. The new press secretary said it would be OK because they amped up testing (instead of being once a week, it is now every day)and contact tracing, something that they apparently deemed not necessary for the general public, If testing means nothing, why does Trump insist everyone around him need to be tested? Also, there were 70 new cases in WI where the victims said they attended a large social event. Speculation was it was the stay at home protest. Idiots.

FS: Draft Profile-Garrett Crochet LHP Tennessee

Willis was still arb eligible. They could have just non tendered him. I don’t even think the Sox came in second place. The Angels were all over him as well. They just didn’t like the Sox package as much as the others. -
Apparently, at least some reality is starting to set in at the WH. The V shaped recovery looks to be scrapped. The Jared "we will be rocking in July" I guess didn't happen. Everything coming back much sooner than anyone would believe, by the wayside. Now they are saying next year, of course after the election, it's going to be great. Everyone will have their job back.
-
First Trump declares victory over Covid 19. He shut it down. Then, he decides he is a wartime President and declares war. Now, he has surrendered. Time for the re-election campaign.
-
Yes, but their re opening is all about Trump. For some reason, they think they need him to survive. He's a great salesman. Most of these people are right to lifers, yet people should risk death to go to a minimum wage job because it makes it more convenient for the better off. They have actually made this a political issue. Getting sick and dying is now political. While they sit away from everybody, getting tested every few days....it is really sickening.

Harper actually loved his meeting w/ the Sox
Dick Allen replied to soxfan49's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes, maybe he is selfish and greedy, but I have left places for more money. You can't blame anyone for taking the cash. Most people would. The reality is if you paid him $300 million or $330 million, it isn't going to make much difference in his life. It's all money he will never spend, but it is nice to have just in case, and most people if they are able, like to leave things to their heirs.
