Sox to pay employees thru at least 5/31
Dick Allen replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You think about the amount of money the White Sox and every other team just pisses away every year on garbage signings. We are all numb to it. $2 million $4 million is nothing, but it probably covers a huge portion of the off field staff for many months. It’s pretty sad the industry isn’t prepared to pay some who probaby are lucky if they make $50k a year for the rest of the season. -
I will not be going anywhere near Tennessee the next couple of years.

I have had it out with Tony myself, but you must admit you aren’t showing much empathy right now. Maybe Tony would bring out his best if you did.

It also depends what you are doing. Restaurants and bars, probably the hardest hit industry won’t be hiring everyone back. It’s going to be a while before they will need what they had before. Most people will still be leary of going back, and many who don’t seem to have a problem with actually blowing off social distancing etc. aren’t exactly the group you see dining out a few times a week. An outbreak because of an early restart will set this back even further.

I think having her at home was throwing a little love her way. It didn't bring out her best.

The problem is the biggest boys got to the front of the line. The Shake Shacks by me are open for delivery and carry out. They did nothing illegal, but Shake Shack isn't who this bill was designed for. I am sure there are more egregious examples than this one though.

This isn't too encouraging, one of the people overseeing the covid 19 vaccine research was forced out of his vaccine development job at Texas A & M in 2015. The

There were a lot of people out this past weekend. The timing of this virus did us no favors. If it hit in December or January, staying at home wouldn't be as big of a deal. Now, everyone wants to go out. And it's starting to look like many have given up on the social distancing.

Former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb said today the US won't have enough testing until hopefully September.

Which I would have no issue with if it were that simple. But he can get someone else sick, who gets a few more sick, who gets my wife with asthma sick, and she dies Where would her free choice be?

I just don't see how people downplay this at all. It's not like a flu. It's not like auto accidents. There are 41,000 deaths with the world basically stopped. What would the total be if the world was not stopped? It should freak you out. People in large groups, or walking around without a mask should piss you off 1000 times more than someone lighting up a smoke in an airplane or restaurant and blowing smoke in your or your family's face. One time won't kill you. This might.
-
Deaths are up to 41k. The hope that it could top out at 60k is looking pretty unlikely. Especially if you see how many people are out and about in the nicer weather, and really very few taking precautions. I would say maybe 1 in 5 wearing masks. Social distancing isn’t what it was. We have to finish the job or all our suffering will be for naught.

Actually many people sick with this virus don’t know it, but are still sick and make others sick. The fact is we have no idea who is sick and who is not. And testing 1 out of 100 at this point, won’t help.

A high school student in the NW suburbs just died of the virus and another is in ICU. Even if you are just thinking about yourself and not others, younger does seem to help, but you aren't immune.

Pritzker had to secretly fly in supplies from China before The federal government, the back ups, could seize it. The dog whistle with the LIBERATE, his now calling social distancing politically correct. It is time for the 25rh amendment.

Trump now claims his shutdown of China travel after 45 countries did before him, and over 400,000 people travelled from China to the US after the first case of Covid 19, and over 40,000 did after his total shutdown, has saved billions of lives.
-
But it wasn’t divided by need or amount of cases. There are some states that will receive over $100k per Covid 19 patient. Want to guess if they are red or blue? And they need way more especially if they are supposed to be doing all the testing and bidding against each other like an episode of the Apprentice to buy masks, gowns, ventilators etc. Trump is ripping Cuomo for saying he needed 40,000 ventilators, well Coumo determined he needed them based on Trumps CDC reports.
-
I think everyone understands that and agrees with you, but rom a practical matter, anyone would have to wonder if it would work. If a player tests positive, is the entire team in quarantine? Does the league shutdown like the NBA? It isn’t like they would have time to make up a couple weeks of games. I hope they play. It is way better than watching reruns, but I just don’t know how practical it is unless something big happens fairly soon.

I also read where coastal breezes make the 6 foot separation obsolete. Crowded beaches and I crowded beaches aren’t very safe right now. Aannnd they are crowded already. Everyone should be pissed off at these people. The more they fuck up, the longer responsible people will have to stay home.

For the same reason the CARES act gave a $70 billion tax break to 43;000 millionaires. That’s an average of $1.6 million each. Real estate developers, hmm, hedge fund people. And the break is retro for 2017 and 2018. But no money for the states. No more money for hospitals. No money for testing. They are bragging about 3.7 million tests. On March 10th, Pence said they would have 4 million tests by the end of the week.Money for campaign donors and probable voters only.

Why are the Fox News personalities that drive Trumps decisions working from home if they feel everyone should be back at work? At least show by example. Fox News should go back to normal operations. I don’t think they would be violating any orders because they are considered the press, but if not, rules apparently don’t apply to presidential advisors as Ivanka and Jared were able to skate the shelter in place order and go to a Trump hotel in NJ. Which probably put several Secret Service employees in harms way.

I read a woman whose husband died in May of 2018 and changed her status to single when filing in 2019 received a payment for her husband. The other thing I read was the IRS said to keep.

Dead people are getting stimulus checks. Trump really wants their vote.

Brian Dennehey, 81. Tommy Boy, several others. Did a lot of work at the Goodman Theater.

I disagree. Big Pharma has always put profits first. If it all was about the greater good, your insurance would be a lot cheaper. These are publicly traded companies whose concern is their shareholders. Making money isn't enough. You need to show growth and make more and more every year.
