  1. What I don't get is all these old men are saying everything was 36 years ago and BS, but on the other hand, some calendar, and who the hell keeps a calendar from 1982 , is clear proof of no wrong. Probably just about everyone who has gone to college has met at least one of these guys who have believed they are entitled, from either growing up with rich parents or being the big man from their hometown. A lot of them are still pretty decent guys who just think they are owed a bit, but there are also some pretty big assholes. This guy seems like the stereotype for that. Lindsay Graham saying he didn't want to ruin a guy's life over some accusation is just wrong. There is a pattern here. He doesn't qualify to be a Supreme Court judge. That is not unusual. Most do not. It doesn't mean their lives are ruined. It's OK if he ruins someone else's life though. No problem.
  2. I have no idea why anyone would want James Shields to pitch for the White Sox next year. He was a little better this year than in the past, but what would make one think next year he won't be back to being his old awful self? I am sure he has had some nice words of wisdom for the young guys, but they have heard him, move on.
  3. Kavanaugh has presented a calendar from 1982 which he claims proves he wasn't at the party in question. He just happened to have a calendar from 36 years ago handy, probably knowing back then he would be up for this job and someone may accuse him of doing something other than studying, playing sports, going to church and doing things for his community.
  4. Socialism seems to be fine for the right when trade wars hurt some of their farmer voters and they give them a bailout. Just like everything else, the Trump partyhas no problem with anything where they benefit. What they don’t like is when darker skinned people get benefits.
  5. I wonder if he can watch a game when he isn’t working and not go through this routine in his head.
  6. He is now saying the line was meant for laughs.who knew besides being the greatest, smartest, bestest person ever, he also was the funniest.
  7. So before hearing one word of testimony, Orrin Hatch has declared Kavanaugh will be confirmed. I saw an interview with Susan Collins and although she says she has not decided, it seems her fellow Republicans have somehow bought her vote. She. IMO is the one who can stop this ridiculousness.
  8. He has definitely had his moments. That was a spring training line up he was facing yesterday, but he did shut them down, and has shut a few teams down this season. Might as well keep on truckin with him. There obviously is something there. Whether it can be there on a more consistent basis is the question.
  9. They have his college roommate saying he was a drunk. They have all the yearbook messages. They have him saying what happens at Georgetown Prep stays at Georgetown Prep. Way too much there to conclude his Fox News softball interview was anything but BS. Just some virgin who was focused on academics and sports and the church. OK. There is more coming. Plus, his clerks need to look like models. Whoever votes to confirm him needs to be held accountable.
  10. It's a fair point, but when he was trying to win and selling his team as playoff caliber, the best he could do was 78 wins. To me, the leash has to be short, and winning in 2020 is a must. But I think if there are enough hiccups in 2019, that is grounds to make a change.
  11. Yeah. OK. "That's totally false and outrageous," he said. "I have never done any such thing, known about any such thing. When I was in high school, and I went to an all-boys Catholic high school where I was focused on academics and athletics and going to church every Sunday at Little Flower and working on my service projects and friendships."
  12. Since Rick Hahn has taken over as GM the Sox are 130 games, almost a full season, below .500. Their best finish in the AL Central, where they hold several advantages, is 4th place. To say another team would give him him the opportunity to do a total rebuild is silly. I get once they commit to the rebuild, they have to see it through, but the leash has to be short. If they aren’t contending in 2020,he has to go, and he can take KW with him.
  13. So what do you think the truth is? I am guessing they want him to resign, throw firing him out there. He calls their bluff, and it's a "clearing of the air".
  14. Lindsay Graham crying about the total collapse of the SCOTUS confirmation process. I wonder why he said nothing when Obama's nomination was ignored. You want someone confirmed, nominate a viable candidate, not the stereotypical drunk frat boy who with entitlement issues. The guy got into debt with baseball tickets? Then it suddenly dissappears? All very shady. Wouldn't financial issues be a huge issue when confirming any judge, let alone one in for the highest court? And then throw all these sexual issues on top of it....desperate times for the Trump party.
  15. I was watching an interview with a Republican strategist. He said the first 2 years of the Trump administration will be known as the "calm" years. He really thinks it's going to only get more crazy.
  16. Is he resigning or being fired based on the failing NYT fake news report about his comment about Trump and the 25th amendment? It is pretty funny how they pick and choose what is fake and what is not. It's all fake when they don't like it, but someone not loyal to Supreme Leader Trump, must go.
  17. My feelings exactly. I was thinking how glad I was they did this gradually the last couple of years, instead of having him go from a full season to nothing. I am more prepared. I am going to miss him. It’s probably time, but I just wish he could have gone out with a better team.
  18. I don’t even think Trump would be married to this guy , he really is a Bush guy after all, except for one thing, his view on indicting g POTUS.
  19. All you need to know is lying to the FBI is a crime. The alleged victim wants an FBI investigation and to speak to them. Those pushing the confirmation want nothing to do with the FBI. It is very telling.
  20. You aren't sending this guy to jail. You are trying to determine if he is fit for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court. All these things factor in. If there is a really good likelihood this occurred, he is unqualified. Chances are, when and if they investigate, your conclusion is correct, and they won't be able to verify everything. But with something like this, making the effort to find out is important.
  21. You can also speak to people she allegedly told previously. There are people who she told about this long before Kavanaugh became a household name and a candidate for the Supreme Court.
  22. You are probably right, but at some point it has to turn at least a bit. Let's face it, a roster of 25 guys who have basically had their asses kissed every day of their lives because of their ability to play a game, is probably going to have its fair share of assholes. So it's understandable you aren't going to have a team filled with alter boys. But the line has to be drawn somewhere, and wife beating is a pretty good spot.
  23. I always get a kick out of these things. Supposedly, Banister has a communication problem, yet he stuck around 4 years, and they extended him. I'm pretty sure if he managed the Red Sox, they would win over 100 games, and if he managed the Orioles, they still would be one of the worst teams of all time. I get the whole can't fire the team saying, but in the offseason, you can basically fire a good chunk. But he probably is just a guy like most, replaceable, would need another extension. IMO, the one time you can get burned with your basic manager is if he is tuned out because he is a lameduck, they probably figured that...move on to the next guy, and watch him win if they improve their roster, or lose if they keep it the same or get worse.
  24. I do think when you are talking about Trump, it is an "us vs. them" situation. I usually vote democrat, but have voted for republicans in the past. Right now, I would never vote for a republican. That is a vote to leave Trump unchecked, because they are afraid. The guy isn't even republican and he hijacked the republican party. Anywhere but the US, I would find it fascinating. Here, it's just scary.
