  1. It's amazing how many adults have attacked these kids on twitter, and almost every single one of them eventually apologizes. Frank Stallone, Sly's brother was the last. I saw one comment where they could boycott something in response, but there isn't anything to boycott for Frank Stallone.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 09:29 AM) Yeah, after the homer I thought he was doomed. My post was premature. His stuff was really good otherwise. Then again I know about 2 guys in the Oakland lineup. What a sorry franchise that is. Horrible stadium, below average farm system, no good vets to trade to boost their system. That is true, he wasn't exactly facing a jugernaut, but like you posted, his stuff looked a lot better than what many of the comments from spring training were suggesting.
  3. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 08:07 AM) From every report out of spring training and the hitters camp, the raw power isn't there. I think it was Kiley at Fangraphs who said after seeing him at the hitters camp he would put a 45 on his future power. So his upside comp as a below average power corner OF is basically Christian Yelich. That is a hard profile to achieve. Blake Rutherford is the poor man's Ryan Sweeney.
  4. Ohtani had that bad inning, but was pretty impressive the rest of the game.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 04:18 PM) What are you implying here fathom? I am thinking Alek Thomas. Allen Thomas’ son is a really good prospect. Some mock have him going in round 1.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 06:06 AM) DBacks will be on the hook for all of that...White Sox would have a very minimum contribution, as nobody in their right mind would assume his contract (see Alex Rios.) He will give up all his remaining money if he refuses to go to the minors and becomes a free agent. That would be dumb.
  7. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 31, 2018 -> 04:52 PM) You can't compare Davidson to Joey Gallo though. Matt Davidson isn't Joey Gallo in his most wonderful dreams. Joey Gallo last year was a 3 WAR player. 123 wRC+, .364 wOBA, with 41 bombs. He had 196 strikeouts and 75 walks. Matt Davidson on the other hand was a negative WAR player last year. 83wRC+, .297 wOBA and 26 homers. Davidson struck out 165 times and walked 19 times. Davidson could be a bench option that faces LHP only at some point I think. Gallo is considered an asset because he's actually kind of good at baseball. Gallo had 32 singles last year. That is the fewest for anyone who ever had enough ABs to qualify for a batting title. Pretty amazing if you think about it.
  8. Stone alternating between telling us it’s a great night to pitch and a tough night to pitch, Thank God they got rid of the most inaccurate pitch cast I have ever seen. I bet Giolito hasn’t pitched much in the cold. Hopefully that is the issue.
  9. Cubs go 17 innings, so now they must change extra innings rules. Must cater to the team with the best rotation, line up, manager, and front office of all time.
  10. Trump complaining the USPS is being used as Amazons delivery boy. Isn’t that what the USPS does? He also b****ed about their taxes, which, considering the source, is hysterical, He did fail to mention his “very successful” tax cuts trimmed their tax bill close to $1 billion.
  11. The other thing is, fanbases of all sports see how some teams have prospered from tanking, so they are all in when their team does it. The problem is the volume of teams doing it now pretty much guarantees a few of them are going to fail and be stuck in a no win situation for quite a while. That will eventually curb some fanbases?€™ appetites for total tankage.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 30, 2018 -> 02:01 PM) Except it's happening in every league I pay attention to (I don't know the NFL draft). If middling free agents continue to get the contracts in the future they received this winter, look for some sort of lottery in the MLB draft. The lottery was brought into the NBA to discourage tanking. The reality is there have been very few teams that have had a legit shot at winning an NBA title any particular year since at least the 70s, but tanking has taken on a new level. So,etching needs to be done. It is one thing to have a roster that cannot win games, it’s another to manipulate it so it won’t. It is getting to the point where penalties should occur. I get rebuilding, and not contending, but max effort should be expected and a given with players, coaches, and from office personnel on a daily basis. Trying to lose should not be rewarded. Something needs to change. The NBA has made a ton of money with very few teams having a chance, but the amount of teams trying to lose is growing, and eventually will take its toll. It doesn’t always just kill the interest of the fans of the tanking teams, if you are a fan of a stacked team, eventually playing cupcake after cupcake is going to reduce your interest.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 06:58 PM) Donaldson can?€™t throw the ball from 3rd. Sox in Toronto on Monday. Speculation on MLBN is he may have the yips. Toronto says he has a dead arm. If he has the yips, it will cost him a lot of money.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 06:48 PM) Where did you find this for free? Most cable systems have a free preview somewhere.. Usually it lasts for a week now, and a week after the All Star break. I have Direct tv and the games are listed staring on channel 721. Ohtani got blown away .
  15. Fre Extra innings. Otahni is about to bat.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 05:46 PM) I don’t mind Benetti at all. I love him and Stone. Maybe that’s because Hawk was absolutely terrible to listen to. Benetti is atleast caught up with the times in terms of analytics. Benetti, if I did have one knock, would be that he is likely forcing jokes because he’s bored. On football, he is wonderful. Maybe there’s just too much down time for him in baseball, but I don’t mind the jokes even if they’re corny. He is good at basketball as well. I just think when he is with Stone, they try to be too silly. It doesn’t have to be 20jokes an inning. A couple an inning just letting them come to them instead of forcing would make it a better broadcast IMO.
  17. Stanton just took Tyler Clippard out about 500 feet.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 05:34 PM) 3 RBI single. You don't see that a lot I would bet there are more cycles and no hitters.
  19. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 05:18 PM) Nice predictions flavum. By the way, any body else annoyed with the announcing? I can't put my finger on it, but man it is kinda bad, no? They are trying too hard to make it a sitcom.
  20. You have to give Shields credit, after the first 4 batters he has made it look easy.
  21. It is raining and 45 degrees in one of the better pitcher’s parks in baseball, and there are 6 long balls. Looks like the balls are juiced this year.
  22. K.C. and Det are probably both 95 plus loss teams
