QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 09:53 AM) This. I don't know how this isn't a bigger deal. Any time the President says anything incorrect, he just says, "well, it was reported in the news! Don't blame me for not knowing it wasn't true! Blame them!" The fact that the President cares so little about whether what he says is true or not is just staggering... It's just words. Whether republicans actually truly believe it's just words or not, at some point the POTUS words are going to have to mean something, and his have no credibility with most US citizens and abroad.

So I guess Trump said last night that he likes news stories. If he repeats them as fact, and they are wrong, he isn't wrong, they are wrong. I guess that is how he will eventually roll with the wiretapping.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 09:46 AM) So you can bring an iphone but not an ipad? What does that even accomplish? It messes with non white people. President Bannon is very happy.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) I seriously wonder how agents let Rick Hahn walk all over their guys. Hahn basically says "Don't bet on yourself, take money" It's 6 years. For every guy that makes it look like the Sox walked all over them, there's 15 Gordon Beckhams or Brett Lawries. Anderson has a young family. He is no lock. Now he's set for life. Pretty easy to see why they would take it. Besides, it isn't like it is that much more he is leaving on the table. He's not even eligible for arb yet. The option years are where he really loses money if he's a star, and he still would get 8 figures a year.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) It's not really comparable to James Shields. 2.5 years isn't the same as 6. Honestly, if he plays great d at short, it still may not even be bad. With interest rates where they are, although they are rising slightly, money over 4 years doesn't appreciate that much. It's not much different especially now when the Sox payroll isn't going to be anywhere near maxed. And while if he plays good defense is a valid point, he will have to hit some. I do like his chances, but there are some red flags. The thing is he hasn't really played all that much baseball relative to other MLB players his age.
-
It might have cost a little bit more, but I personally would have waited until June to try to lock him with this. See where he's at.
-
It depends on how he does. It's still $25 million, same as what they will pay James Shields, and supposedly that was devastating. If he's good it's great. If he's hitting .240 with a .250 OBP, it won't be good. I like his chances, but there is always the chance he could regress especially if he doesn't become a bit more selective.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 08:12 AM) US bans larger electronic devices on some flights from Middle East So they have 96 hours to comply. Didn't Trump say giving deadlines like this is stupid? The electronics based bombs are going to be going off for 4 days now. They found one way around their crap. Make up intel.

"I'm going to be working for you; I'm not going to have time to go play golf," Trump said during a 2016 event in Virginia. The dishonest media must have quoted him incorrectly. They say he watches TV about 6 hours a day. Slacker. Sad.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 09:12 AM) Orange Twitler is having an epic twitter meltdown right before Comey speaks Ironic CNN is fake news when he got all his false info on being wiretapped from Fox and their great ratings. He will never let it go. He's probably never admitted he was wrong once in his life. It's really hard to believe a POTUS would say and tweet what he says and tweets. He's a 70 year old spoiled little brat. Can't wait for him to be impeached.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 07:52 AM) How about this source? There are others as well: http://www.espn.com/espnw/news-commentary/...-rooted-reality All that really says is Alford believed his player. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 08:27 AM) I like analytics and modern baseball analysis coming from my team's booth in 2017. You may not. That's fine too. What's funny is analytics takes a decent sample size to really be accurate. I don't know how WAR and the like come into play on a daily basis. Hawk actually did use some advanced stats last year, and Stone throws them in occassionally too. What I don't understand is how you can like Steve Stone if modern baseball analysis and analytics are so important. He mentions wins for pitchers every day.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 08:00 AM) He's a professional broadcaster that is well versed in multiple sports and went to school for his craft. He is inherently more qualified than the current version of Hawk. Now if Hawk were the analyst, that'd be different. I grew up with Hawk like everyone else did. He takes over broadcasts though and minimizes Steve Stone. The Hawk schtick has run its course as far as the broadcast is concerned. The home games sound like a modern baseball broadcast. The road games are two guys doing separate games because of their dislike for working with the other on most nights. I don't know how being "well versed" in say basketball, makes him a better baseball announcer. I like Jason, but there is no question Hawk knows a bit more baseball than he does. Jason is fine, and will only get better, but you mentioned modern baseball broadcast. What is so appealing about every broadcast from every team or network sounding the same? One thing I really like about Hawk's broadcast is it's uniqueness. The broadcast school, cookie cutter telecast is taking over. It's nice to have something different, and how it's set up now, you get some of both. Believe me, I am pro education, but there are things you really don't need a college degree. PBP for baseball games is one of them.

Amazing how quickly he went from bust who needs to go back to AA to future HOFer. Some posters take spring training games way too seriously for the good and bad.

The one thing I have noticed about when teams rest a slew of star players is it hardly ever happens, if ever, for home games. Last night there was good reason for Love to be out. You could justify Irving being out, but Lebron? He was pissed he wasn't playing. Scheduling these big nationally telecast games on a second night of a back to back for a team is on the NBA. But, if they played in Cleveland last night, Lebron would have played, so it's BS he sat. Play him 24 minutes. Many times it's his only trip to town. People pay a lot of money to see him. It also shows just how unimportant the NBA regular season is, it is basically an 82 game money making exhibition season.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 18, 2017 -> 02:19 PM) Trump still does not understand how nato works and thinks that countries pay money to the US. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/...088518339612673 And since he wants to up defense spending in lieu of taking care of the sick and hungry, other countries already know there is no need to contribute more. His dick measuring exercise cost him any leverage getting other countries to contribute more.

Twins new GM is hoping they can avoid the long rebuild others have gone through. Uh, they have averaged over 94 losses a year the last 6 seasons.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 17, 2017 -> 02:35 PM) Fired U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara Said to Have Been Investigating HHS Secretary Tom Price Trump’s head of the Department of Health and Human Services traded stocks of health-related companies while working on legislation affecting the firms. A source says Bharara was overseeing an investigation. The White House didn’t immediately comment. It's one s***show after another. Do I have the wiretap story correct? Trump claims it was on Fox News, after saying he read it in the NYT. Fox News also claimed the Brits were involved. When they complained, the WH backed down, agreeing they were not involved but the report despite no evidence anywhere was correct, Trump was wiretapped. How does this end? They will never have any evidence.
-
Trump reiterating Obama wiretapped him. The guy will never admit he's wrong which is dangerous enough. But for someone who makes as many obnoxious false claims as he does and the position he is in, its craziness.
-
If words didn't matter, why the outrage over "basket of deplorables"?
-
What's his news conference about? The proposed budget? Health care? Or is he just going to pat himself on the back for launching an investigation into whether or not Obama wiretapped him, and everyone can put their fears aside. He did not. Just like he took credit for "ending" the birther movement.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 17, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) Trump supporters love Obamacare so much they think it's Trump's plan. Pretty scary the woman was a teacher. And the other one, just wow.

QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Mar 17, 2017 -> 10:44 AM) Can't Trump just take a bullet for the team and pay for private security out of his pocket? Yes, if he's as rich as he claims, it's peanuts to him.

Does anyone else find it odd that the White House gets it's intelligence info from Fox News? https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/white-ho...-111400428.html
