I like Hawk and Jason. One thing they have got to do is if they continue with Sox math, and I'm not on Twitter so I don't participate, they need to allow for more than the same guy winning every time. OK dude, we get it. You know all the players numbers and have 3 Ipads set up to BR to get all the answers. Once you win, you should be ineligible to win again until the next season.

Something changed. He seemed really happy with the situation at the end of last season. So either it is a health issue with himself or maybe his wife or someone, I am thinking maybe his eyesight, or something hit him. Maybe he realizes the team is going to suck and it won't be pretty for a few years. Whatever it is,I wish him well.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 03:27 PM) Senate starts hearings next Monday. Things move at an incredible pace in Trumpworld, but these sorts of things usually take time to unfold anyway. Yes, but it was in the news all day every day. Then it just sort of stopped. Maybe these new Flynn findings bring them back front and center. I really wonder how long it will take people to realize they voted for a con man. Maybe never. A Mexican woman in my office voted for him. I would think that would be impossible, but she loved the Apprentice.

You didn't hear too much about Russia once Trump threw out the wiretapping claim. He's a lying fool, but his methods work. Now he's saying wiretapping means a lot of things. He specifically tweeted his phones were wire tapped.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) Tucker Carlson just told trump "the counties that voted for you will do far worse under your plan" and trump replied "Oh, I know" He's doing everything he said he would do. Gotta go up to maybe a 9/10. If I agreed with it all 10/10. Trump is the goods. Make the rich richer, the sick sicker, maybe get into a nuclear war or 2. Dump raw sewage in rivers, screw the environment, frack everywhere, we don't have enough earthquakes. Keep people out of the country that don't have the same God as you. Make America Great Again.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 02:32 PM) He'd recruit well, especially in the midwest/indiana area and that would hurt Illinois, but for the most part he still hasn't gotten the results to match the recruiting. I think he would recruit Indiana well, maybe better than anyone has ever done. The rest of the Midwest I am not buying. Is basically having your pick of Indiana's best enough to get them to where they want to be? -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 02:18 PM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/04/03/ber...-lying-at-ucla/ So Alford can't be believed but the lawyer for the victim is a neutral source? And, unfortunately, many innocent people agree to plea deals. Alford was lied to. He believed his player. You can't fault him for that. The only thing that killed Alford in Iowa wasn't that the kid did this, he basically did it again. If he didn't have the second problem, he still may be coaching the Hawkeyes. Dan Bernstein, the guy who talks about female sport's reporters chest sizes as the moral police is a bit rich. -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) He's already recruiting it better than Crean was, he stole Wilkes (who loved Indiana but not Crean). He didn't exactly land the big Indiana fish when he was coaching Iowa. But IU would be a different story. I personally think if they hire him they will be a lot happier the day they do than at any other time during his tenure. As an Iowa alum, I thought his hire was going to be the greatest thing, but it was more mediocrity, and I don't blame him too much for the Pierre Pierce stuff. He took the kid at his word and stuck up for him. Turns out he gets burned badly. I don't know if he would have done the same had Pierce not been probably his best player. But coaches sticking up for their guys usually isn't frowned upon. If he didn't take his side and Pierce was being straight with him, he would have been crushed for that as well. -

Alford has an alum problem at UCLA. He will never be good enough there. He is royalty in Bloomington. I could see why he would leave. I would love to go to Carver Hawkeye Arena for an Iowa/Indiana game if he made the move. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 01:38 PM) More details have emerged on Flynn's Russian payments Some vetting process the Trump administration did on this guy.

If Gar/Pax uses this injury as the reason the Bulls missed the playoffs, everyone should cancel their season tickets.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) When do we start the DWade memories thread? To me it would be good riddance. He's still a decent scorer, but for a guy who doesn't give much defensive effort, he had no problem calling out others. He clearly isn't going to lead the team to a championship. The only reason IMO he would stay, and the only reason he came was the payday. All that other stuff, please. He would have signed with the Bulls years ago.

Wade is out the rest of the season with a small elbow fracture. They did say regular season. I can't see them making a playoff run. Jimmy is hurting and will be doubled.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 11:46 AM) Preemptively calling out fans 2 years before free agency for calling sox cheap bastards isn't really that interesting to me. I think White Sox will go after Machado. They will likely lose out, but such is the life of a non dodgers/yankees/red sox fan. Whether or not Machado is worth it? Revenue is skyrocketing and every team is worth over a billion. I hope the owners get squeezed for money soon. I'd rather Machado get paid than Tom Ricketts. All I am saying is it is very unlikely the White Sox will sign him, and at this moment, you probably can say that about every team even though one eventually will. Eventually, unless he opts out, all these huge contracts go bad. I'd assume the same thing will happen here. I hope the Sox sign him. But the odds don't favor it at all.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 11:14 AM) I remember when the right wing got super upset about Michelle Obama taking a vacation to Europe and how it was costing so many of ARE TAX DOLLARS! He's the jobs President, except when you can spend that money on anything Trump.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) ISIS was defeated in 30 days... Right? Yes. The Trump plan. He knew more than any General. Believe him. I guess he just asked for a few General's ideas recently just to make them look a little less stupid. Trump is a very compassionate guy. He doesn't want his smarts overshadowing others.

I am going on Saturday. I always enjoy going to Miller Park. It's always stated the problem with the White Sox stadium situation is the lack of bars and restaurants around the park. Miller Park is the same way. I guess their tailgating tradition sort of trumps that. They have drawn pretty well since moving in there.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) Well yeah, the a rod deal would have happened almost 20 years earlier. "Also keep in mind if many of the team's prospects pan out, they are going to eventually have to be paid as well." Gives you at least 4 years to figure that out. Again, 29 owners will be cheap bastards not interesting in winning when Machado signs his $300 million-$400 million contract. The contract ARod signed was about $100 million more than any other team offered him, and the Rangers got worse despite ARod putting up ridiculous numbers. No one called Tom Hicks cheap. They called him a dumb ass. I bet if you asked him today, he would preferred to have been called cheap. Even ARod was called an asshole for taking that contract. The line was he preferred being paid over winning. Like anyone else would turn down an extra $100 million.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 10:16 AM) How else would you describe them considering they haven't given a free agent more than $68 million? And they clearly haven't been interested in winning as of late. They would've signed Cespedes and Desmond instead of the bargain bin free agents they did if that was the case. Well technically the $68 million was ripped up. But have you seen how little the free agents who have signed 9 figure contracts have made their teams better and title contenders. Their choice in recent years was not to sign these guys and get called cheap, or sign these guys, be on the hook for 9 figures and get called dumb. Did anyone really think the Angels were stupid to sign Pujols when they signed him? They would have been better off having their fanbase call them cheap.
-
Take ARods deal and start multiplying. Machado is going to be making $35-40 million a year if not more for a long, long time. To think the White Sox will pay it is most likely a pipedream. And calling them cheap or not interesting in winning if they don't is ridiculous as well. I'm sure they would love to have him. Also keep in mind if many of the team's prospects pan out, they are going to eventually have to be paid as well.

White Sox Scout Yankees for Potential Q Trade

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 09:45 AM) Everyone said Moncada is "untouchable", yet the Sox still acquired him Why should the Sox settle for less than an organization's top prospects for Quintana? If the price were a lesser package, Q would have been traded already That's true. I don't know why the Sox would have to accept a package where the top prospect coming back isn't the other team's top prospect or if not at least their next top 2 or 3. As long as Q is Q and is healthy, some team will eventually cave because the staffs for all these teams will most likely eventually take a hit. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 09:38 AM) The next president is going to have to do so much work to fix the effects of this horrible administration. It will be an easy campaign though, the entire platform will be "we will fix it" Trump was going to be making all these trade deals with several countries during his first 100 days. Winning deals, because that is what he does. We are going to be sick of winning. Yet he hasn't starting making these deals. And why are there cuts to build a wall Mexico is paying for? Trump is getting it done. Unprecedented success.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 09:33 AM) Torres and Meadows aren't being moved. The fact that it's March 16th and this still needs to be stated is insane to me. OK. Then trade him to Houston for a package built around Bregman. -
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) You know the response: #itsdifferent Which is the same response republicans have for not shutting it down. So we finally found something each party agrees with. It's different. IMO, the premise for the Trump victory wasn't so incorrect. These politicians have to go. It's not about what's best and compromising anymore, its all about party, and getting re-elected. It's too bad there wasn't a more stable, thoughtful "outside" candidate, instead of one who still thinks he hosting a game show.
