  1. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 12:54 PM) Trump: "Nobody knew healthcare could be so complicated." Uh, I'm pretty sure anybody paying any attention to the ACA for the past 8 years knows that its incredibly complicated. Just watch him when he is reading teleprompters. The guy can barely read. Of course he didn't know it was complicated because he didn't even know what it was. Remember the comment his employees didn't use it much because they didn't like it?
  2. He was ranked #29 preseason. At the time of his call up Frank was .323/.487/.581. He was a top 10 prospect.
  3. Still, if Davidson excites anyone, where is the Leury Garcia love? He's not a power hitter, but can play a lot more postions, is a heck of a lot faster than Davidson and his age and AAA OPS is the same?
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 10:21 AM) But Alvarez having success doesn't really matter to this team. If you are talking about building assets for the future, I can't see many scenarios that Alvarez finds a market in July, teams just don't have spots for players that are this one dimensional. He won't net you anything, unless he somehow becomes a different player with us. You never know if he is hitting. At least he has shown he can hit. What do you think the White Sox could get for Davidson?
  5. Alvarez put up an OPS .034 higher in the AL last year than Davidson put up his 4th year in AAA that gave anyone any optimism about his future. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, Alvarez and Avi are the better bets to have any success, and Alvarez is having a hard time finding a job, and no one wants Avi anywhere near the roster.
  6. He fits as a guy who if he performs, might be able to be flipped for a prospect. Or if he is good, a guy who could be a long term DH but that is really reaching. They aren't going to sign him. His skillset will always keep his salary down as his defense will keep teams from ever paying him. I still don't get the Matt Davidson love. At least Avi sucked in the major leagues. Davidson sucked at AAA and people want Avi out of here and Davidson given a chance. Even Davidson's "breakout" last year gave him a OPS .001 lower than Leury Garcia. They are all pretty much the same age. Leury is 8 days older than Davidson, and Avi is about 3 months younger.
  7. Trump has given himself an "A" for his job performance so far. Has achieved so much. Believe me.
  8. John Oliver was hysterical the other night. He said the old way Trump would scare an immigrant was by texting Melania: will be home early, feeling horny. He also questioned his transgender bathroom fear with Trump's quote about going into dressing rooms at beauty pageants. Trump seemed to find nothing wrong with that. .
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 02:44 PM) He was a sweet dumb kid who just wanted to play ball and do the right thing. He really was a breath of fresh air. Then someone got to him. Now he comes off as still very dumb but with arrogance. Supposedly he teammates (except for maybe Buckets) still really like him.
  10. Comp picks are given to teams with net losses in free agency. If the Bears are going to spend like Ted Phillips claimed, they won't be eligible.
  11. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 12:26 PM) I was saying that they would be in the penalty phase if they go out and get Robert. Which is perhaps a plan. If they aren't committed to big bonuses for other players, they can't renege if they suddenly have a $300k limit. So it works a couple of ways. Other teams locked in can't get this guy if he's available because they will be up against their limit. The Sox can battle with the teams that are already over, and they can be in a position to offer the most if his eligibility is delayed.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 12:16 PM) There is one writer out there that is throwing fuel on that fire on top of it with a rating of Tatis MUCH higher than anyone else. It will be interesting to see how the kid plays out. And that writer has never seen him play.
  13. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 11:29 AM) If the Sox don't have many deals lined up for 7/2, it shouldn't matter when Robert is cleared. They will still have $4M+ to spend, though they will have to do it in increments of $300K and less. Getting Robert his year and 15 kids this summer under $300K would give you quality this season and quantity next season. I don't see anyway that Robert isn't declared a FA before 6/15. Too many teams with interest will be putting pressure on the commishs office to get it done. From MLBTR article on Cards interest in Robert: One NL international scouting director tells Sanchez that Robert is second only to Shohei Otani on the list of best international talents in baseball, describing the 19-year-old as “a five-tool guy that can be in the big leagues soon.” An international scouting director for an AL team goes even further, calling Robert “the best player on the planet, and that’s no exaggeration.” https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/02/card...uis-robert.html J4L got a job with a AL MLB team?
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) Badler updated his article: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...VD1cwd79uCYp.97 Still nothing for the White Sox Which, If you like this young Cuban, puts them in a prime position to sign him if he doesn't clear before 6/15.
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) Jeffery is gonna get like 15 million a year and then catch like 60 passes next year. And the McCaskeys will pocket an additional $15 million for fielding a s***ty team.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 08:26 AM) Just creating another hole. Unbelievable. Especially considering they won't be able to spend all their cap space even if they tagged him.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 25, 2017 -> 09:12 AM) How do you know the Sox have no interest in signing Robert? I don't get that at all. It all has to do with when the guy gets cleared to sign. If it is before June 15 the teams that blew therir spending limits are the teams that will be the favorites. If it is later, about half the league won't be able to give him more than$300k.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 11:11 AM) Paid liberals.... I just think they were morons that had no idea what they were waving.
  19. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) They have not decided whether to rebuild or compete. They made the trade to get some value out of Taj's expiring contract, since he won't be resigned in the off season, and also to cut the losses on McDermott. I suspect that they will wait till the off season to pick a direction. So, hurt your chances this year, then decide? If they were going to wait until the offseason to decide, they may as well have tried to win some games the next couple of months. Maybe I am way off, but I don't think Payne is a game changer. He isn't a good shooter, he isn't really a good passer. He does play decent defense, but if you are a point guard who can't shoot or pass, and rely on defense to stay in the league, you are a 10-15 minute a night guy at best, and will probably go 2 week stretches of not playing at all under Hoiberg.
  20. As for Pax busting on Thibs for MCDermott, I would still take Green and McDermott over Teague and the draft picks they gave up for McD. Pax, you still lose. I think yesterday's press conference showed Pax needs to be on the same plane out of town with Gar. The game has passed him by.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 01:07 PM) You would have thought both would have been good fits and quite frankly, Rondo is running Fred's system in the bench role (and actually playing pretty solid off the bench). You would think Rondo is next to go. They have to play Payne. Losing the threat of McBuckets hitting a 3 isn't going to help the second unit IMO. I still don't understand the trade. If the goal is to rebuild, then rebuild. If the goal is to make the playoffs, then trading McDermott and Taj in essence for a lottery ticket in Payne is beyond questionable. Hopefully this will at least signal some consistent minutes for Valentine. I just don't know how you can expect a young guy learning the league to do much with the way Fred hands out minutes. It's crazy, and he is a guy who was pretty much a bench player.
  22. Weren't Niko and McDermott the guys who were supposed to thrive under Hoiberg? Is there really a player that fits whatever his system is besides guys that are great no matter what?
