5/18 White Sox vs Astros
They came back in the 9th last night and did score in the 11th. I thought Eaton's ball in the 9th was gone. If it was typical May 17th weather , it may have been. This 45 degree crap needs to end. Putnam was off a bit. Albers is in a slump. Except for the homers, Rodon looked much better. Hopefully Latos will have a good outing, and Frazier will be back in the line up. The Sox offense seems out of hibernation.

Awful non-call in the 11th inning.
Times like this the Sox could use the leadership of Drake LaRoche

Awful non-call in the 11th inning.
Bottom line was Albers made a huge mistake way ahead in the count and that was the game. Back on track tomorrow

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 17, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) Did Ventura even come out and argue and ask the ump to get help? Also bullpen and clutch hitting are gone. Resting the pen in Texas seems to have ended their mojo. Of course he did.

QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 17, 2016 -> 04:03 PM) Frazier is not playing due to an illness. Supposedly he wasn't even at the park when they spoke to the media, but is expected and may play if able and needed.

Sox Re-Acquire OF Jason Bourgeois
QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 17, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) The White Sox traded Gio Gonzalez TWICE. That's a huge fail. Imagine Gio in the White Sox rotation now. Oakland traded him because they weren't going to be able to afford him. If you go back, the Swisher trade was for the most part highly praised in these parts. Hindsight again has shown how smart people who don't actually make trades for a living can be.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 17, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) If the Sox can go 7-6 in every 13 game stretch from this point forward, they'll make the playoffs. If any team went 7-6 every 13 games, they would finish 87-75. Decent shot at a WC. It goes to show the overreaction of a 2-4 roadtrip. There isn't a team in baseball that won't have a 2-4 stretch this season.

2016 MLB Draft
If Collins' bat is as good as you hope, you probably don't want him catching anyway. If he could play 1B and DH and rake, that's not too bad. Frank Thomas was an awful 1B. You can outhit being bad defensively especially with a DH.

Sox Re-Acquire OF Jason Bourgeois
All you need to know about GreenSox is he is still mad the Sox gave up Jeremy Reed for Freddy Garcia. Even with hindsight. Even knowing the Sox used Garcia to win a WS, then traded him for Floyd and Gio.

Jason >>>>>>>>>>> Hawk
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) I wish the resident fan base hater/basher would not misquote other posters on this site. I never said anything like this. I said three things: Harry Caray had a positive impact on Sox attendance during his stay with the Sox, a view obviously agreed to by the then-Sox ownership because they paid him huge bonuses tied to attendance. I also said Harry Caray managed to have that impact despite rather minimal exposure on a suburban radio station for awhile and Channel 44. But my broader point was that Harry Caray would have accomplished expanding the Sox fan base the way he impacted and expanded the Cubs fan base had he remained the Sox announcer on WGN. With the power of the superstation at his disposal, he was primarily responsible for the Cubs becoming a national treasure on WGN. The outstanding job he did selling the Cubs and Wrigley Field on WGN translated into an extraordinary boost in attendance, and the Cubs continue to benefit from what he started to this very day. If you choose to deny that, SSK5, that's your problem, but it remains the truth. What also remains the truth is that it was a colossal mistake for the current ownership to let Caray go in the first place and to forego WGN in favor of SportsVision. HUGE, HUGE mistakes by Jerry Reinsdorf & Co. There is no denying that. For anyone interested, here is a great article from a few years ago summarizing what is my point of view. You'll see it is quite different from the silly attempt by SS2K5 to try and paraphrase my opinion. http://kentsterling.com/2013/07/15/chicago...lk-to-the-cubs/ One thing you refuse to address, exactly how was JR going to get all the Sox games on WGN when all the Cubs games were on WGN and WGN and the Cubs were owned by the same entity? I'll hang up and listen for my answer.

Early Trade Speculation
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) The Angels don't need Anderson with Simmons one of the best defenders in all of baseball at that position. So it comes down to would they accept Adams? It's not going to be Johnson/Sanchez and a bunch of suspects...let's put it this way, last year Burns had a 2.8 WAR playing half his games at the O.CO. He's only 26, under control for multiple years and won't cost much for awhile. The average player picked in the late first round/early 2nd round doesn't even put up a 2.8 CAREER WAR usually. So that means he should be theoretically more highly valued to the White Sox than Spencer Adams...not to mention the fact that a 2.5-3ish WAR player would be a 1 1/2 WAR upgrade on what Austin Jackson's on pace to contribute. So while his OPS is in the mid 600's now, that doesn't mean they're just going to give him away. Do I believe Hahn would trade Fulmer for him? No, probably not. But he would be the first player the A's will ask about. First off, if the White Sox even thought about Anderson or Adams or Fulmer for Burns, they would be insane. Secondly, I don't think, and I could be wrong, the Angels SS situation would matter much in a trade between the White Sox and A's.

Early Trade Speculation
QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 17, 2016 -> 08:28 AM) What's stunning, well not that stunning, is the patience and optimism about OTHER team's young players who can't hit a lick, compared to the patience, optimism of SOX young players who haven't hit yet. By the LARGE consensus hereon, Trayce Thompson was nothing but a fourth outfielder. And that's even though he absolutely raked in September. The consensus has already ruled that Saladino and Sanchez are utility infielders. Bradley is a nice example of someone who has talent, didn't play well in his first ML attempts, but was still good. Sure they could have dumped him. But to acquire that player now, would require a top 50 prospect and a couple of other Bs Inciarte is a slap hitter with no power who got lucky last year that his slaps found holes...the stats revealed that. Could he develop into something? Perhaps. Considering Bradley Jr. was a top 25 prospect.....To think other teams' young players all have patience and it's just the White Sox problem with young hitters is obviously a case of not paying attention.

Off day ruminations
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) Heading into Tuesday's games up 4 1/2 on CLE, 5 1/2 on the Royals and 7 games up on DET, who have now won two games a row but also just blew a huge lead against the Twins (Zimmerman gave up 7 ER) but won 10-8 in the end. Would be nice to knock the Tigers out completely, they're teetering on the brink as is... 7 GB with over 125 games to play is not teetering on the brink.

The Bathroom Dilemma
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 16, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) So no exposure to sex-ed or the internet yet? Kids these days have seen alot more shocking stuff than a penis I live by the Latin school and Walter Payton Prep. What girls in high school wear today, you don't have to fake being a girl to get in the locker room to see what many teenage boys want to see. Just show up to class.

The Bathroom Dilemma
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 16, 2016 -> 09:00 AM) I'm not worried about the transgendered person. I'm worried about the straight guys who are going to claim to be transgendered in order to get a look at my daughter. I've said this at least a dozen times in this thread, so are you trolling or ignorant?????? How many straight guys are going to claim to be transgendered? That's really ridiculous. Your daughter has a higher chance of having a deviate teacher "getting a look". One thing you can do is tell her not to take a shower at school. Make sure she uses a stall in the bathroom and tell her there is no need to walk around the bathroom naked. Problem solved.

5/15- White Sox at Yankees
Do people really expect a,team to,go 4-2 every week of the season? It doesn't happen. Ever. There will be more bad weeks. The Cubs will even have a bad week.
