  1. Most of the guys they traded where worse than the guys they just got for Cease. You complain if they trade them, you complain if they acquire them. The good news is this new hitting coach is the bomb. Paul Dejong is fixed. Look at his spring training stats.
  2. There has to be a system to empty. The system sucked. They made an awful trade for the Shark. It made no sense for a rental. They did trade for Eaton, who turned out pretty well with performance, and got a haul trading him.
  3. This would have been a perfect time for them to try what they tried 2014-2016, Sign some guys and hope for the best. If they play as expected, you lose no draft position. If a few work out, you can deal them for prospects or hover around .500 and contend. It doesn't make any sense to me why they are almost trying to be that bad again. There is nothing in it for them.
  4. WTF? A guy is supposed to be fixed in spring training? I'm no fan of Chris Getz, but exactly how many times have you seen Thompson pitch?
  5. Everyone but you knows Getz knows more about Thompson than you do.
  6. You're not seriously crying about getting rid of Thompson are you? You tell us for months how Cease isn't any good, now you say the return is light? You must be a lot of fun at parties.
  7. Here's what the Governor thinks: “We’re prioritizing the use of dollars here for people who need those dollars,” he said. “Wealthy owners of sports teams, I respect that they run private businesses and they want them to be profitable, and they want constantly to provide better facilities for their customers. But I don’t think that should be the highest priority for the state of Illinois. “… I’m willing to listen to whatever it is that they’re proposing, but my number-one concern is prioritizing the dollars and making sure the taxpayers are getting a return on their investment.”
  8. I think they want Lorenzen and are using Clevinger to try to get Lorenzen's camp to move a bit.
  9. I think Lorenzen is a strong possibility, but it would take a while before he was ready.
  10. Jerry wants to win, but only on his terms, which means not spending money on talent or development. A nearly impossible task.
  11. I think he's the key. Keith Law went from being a huge fan of his in 2023 to saying he seems disinterested in 2024, If they can fix his attitude, supposedly the bat speed is ridicullously fast, he could be something. As far as Thorpe goes, he was traded for Soto and Cease. He must be a bit better than some of the scouts on here think.
  12. I think they will get 2. Getz had a huge ask. Don’t know why his price would drop now.
  13. Wow. Pressure is on. If this trade flops, this team may be awful for a long, long time.
  14. i think it sort of worked with Tanaka, but even then, he wasn't what he was supposed to be. Other than that, has the rest and rehab ever worked?
  15. I'd say current ownership would have to be no longer in the picture for them to be decent again, unless they get really lucky.
  16. Jon Morosi seems like a nice guy, but has he ever broken a story? He's been way wrong a ton of times.
  17. Chicago is different from Minneapolis and Detroit, and Minneapolis will get another Super Bowl. But even if the eventually get 3 or 4 Super Bowls, a couple Final Fours, Big Ten Championship games, it won't cover the bill. I read where a new Bears dome would cost at least $3 billion, and that just builds the stadium. They would have to deconstruct Soldier Field, add park land, and get it through all the legal stuff that is sure to happen. Even throwing in $2 Billion , it's still going to coast about the same as building JR a ballpark for free.I still think the Bears go to Arlington Heights until that land is sold.
  18. Chuck works with and loves, Ozzie. Ozzie thinks and knows Pedro is a clown and probably tells Chuck that every night. This quote is ridiculous. If you have to do something, do it. Don't say you have to do it to a reporter. He's a joke, and everyone knows it except the White Sox front office.
  19. The other thing is you can trade the #1 pick, move down a spot or two get a QB, keep Fields for another season, and get some draft capital there if you like someone as much or more than Williams.
  20. He will also be 36 years old coming off a bad injury. I did read though where ATLs new OC runs an offense not so conducive to Fields strengths and that Cousins was a better fit.
