So let me get this straight, if the state builds JR a new park, he’ll be able to afford Ohtani?
-
I don't think he'll get any boos.
-
From August. JR owes the Crain's guy an apology “Somebody at Crain’s decided he wanted to write that (the Sox) were looking at the Bears (situation),” Reinsdorf said, “and the White Sox lease has six or seven years left to go and the White Sox have some options, they might move out of the city, they might move out of town, they might go to Nashville. That wasn’t us, that was a (reporter) at Crain’s. “And ever since the article came out, I’ve been reading that I’ve been threatening to move to Nashville. That article didn’t come from me. But it’s obvious, if we have six years left … we’ve got to decide what’s the future (of where the Sox home is) going to be? “We’ll get to it, but I never threatened to move out. We haven’t even begun to have discussions with the (Illinois) Sports Authority, which we’ll have to do soon.”

Those jobs are gone once it's built.
-
If the thing got built like the pictures, which is probably a long shot, what types of high paying jobs would there be? Apartments have door personnel and maintenance people. White Sox game day doesn't pay much and its only transferred from Bridgeport. Restaurants and bars aren't high paying. It's all BS.
-
The mayor would be for this possibly because it takes away responsibility to cover any hotel tax shortage from the City.
-
That's what he ran on, and won.
-
If you read the article the new mayor of Nashville is totally against publicly funding a stadium.
-
This guy has contributed to BP for 20 years. He kind of debunks a lot of what JR is saying. https://www.fieldofschemes.com/
-
I hope he gets his act together. It already cost him $8 million. I am worried his legs are not going to let him get back to what he was.
-
No way. It will be under 1.8. Go to whitesox.com look up opening day, which is usually a sellout even when they are bad. It doesn't look like half the park is sold yet.
-
What would have happened to the White Sox if the state let them go to Tampa? God, would they have sucked. Call his bluff.
-
BS. JR is also implying that his family's sale of the team will be to someone who wants them to move. Look at what teams have to go through to move. The White Sox are not even close. The league isn't going to let them move unless there is no option. I'm sure he would more than settle for some upgrades to GRF and his sweetheart deal extending. That's the other thing that is freaking him out. A lot of people, including one former Board member of the IFSA thinks his deal is way too good. And why do they think this way? Because they are right.

So JR is going to step over his buddy Tony and take over Nashville? Not going to happen.

year:2061 Loacation: who knows seat: at your home on a computer Owner: Little Jerry Reinsdorf, grandson of the master grifter, needs a new $10 billion stadium, needing to knock down some Chicago landmark in order to compete with the Kansas City Royals. The site at the 78 just doesn't do it for us. you: give him what he wants, the Sox almost made the playoffs a decade or so ago.

Amazon employs over 1.5 million world wide and 43k in Illinois. There are more than 100 companies in Chicago alone bigger than the White Sox. What permanent jobs will be created by building the White Sox a stadium? Seems most will be transferring over from Bridgeport. What’s rich is JR now says he needs bars and restaurants. There have been blueprints to build him that in the parking lots of GRF for about 20 years. He refused until he did allow one bar and one team store.
-
Clearly the reason the Sox usually suck is GRF.
-
If you lived in Austin or Nashville or Portland or Salt Lake Ciry and had a choice of expansion team or Jerry Reinsdorf, you would pick expansion team. Las Vegas is realizing that right now.
-
And there it is. If he actually took the White Sox out of the area as a 90+ year old, he might be known as the biggest asshole ever.

Sox set ambitious goal for Yoan, Eloy: actually play baseball

maybe he'll go down to Springfield to see if he can get the politicians to pay it. -
I'm not bitching about the stadium, I think it's nice, and hope it's built. Just not on the taxpayer dime.
-
I think it crosses the line to greed. Everyone has a friend or family member that tries to negotiate everything. At some point it gets so annoying, you say just pay your share.
-
That’s pretty good in more than 1 way.
-
I don’t agree with Bernstein much but he’s spot on here. If it’s such a great deal, do it yourself. JR and Related have plenty of money. He can be the catalyst that created this great new ballpark, with a great new neighborhood with 22000 new jobs….what a way to go out, and his heirs still can cash in.

Pretty amazing how that works. If they shine, there is another contract year next season.
