  1. It doesn't make it right. The only ones who will make money on this would be the Reinsdorfs and Related. Again, if the stadium is a must, and the develpment nothing but a cash register, why don't they built it themselves.
  2. I think Pedro has to be better than last year, not just by wins, or he's going to be the scapegoat for a team that refuses to say they are rebuilding. He's talking like they are headed to World Series. 90 loses and they can't bring him back, especially considering most of the roster is one and done.
  3. And they have no place to build in Chicago. They will go to Arlington Heights. It the grand scheme of things, the difference is $17 million a year, which normally is a lot, but not enough to kill the project.
  4. Again, if the buildings get built, the make up of the board really won't matter too much, and who gets to appoint what could be changed. Since it is a state run thing, they probably would want Arlington Heights to have some power.
  5. They will adjust the board if they have to. ISFA is a state thing, not city thing. The Bears will be in Arlington Heights. The I stands for Illinois.
  6. The Bears will not be building a lakefront stadium. No way. They will be in AH.
  7. Lip is usually a dark cloud, but look at what we were promised, and look at what we got. At present, his dismay is more than justified. im skeptical of anything anyone says on the positive side of things. Pillar thinking this team could make the playoffs.’ Where’s Jim Mora when you need him?
  8. At least you can catch the repeat of Murray State vs. Indiana State on NBCSC right now. It's really an awful station. Very little programming except for games.
  9. JR already threw his son under the bus. He's not going to move the team, but when his son sells, the entity he once called a public trust that should be run like a charity, is available to the highest bidder even if it means they are moving.
  10. Looks like the potential Opening Day line up vs. the lefty. Sox should be a runaway train by then.
  11. As soon as the Sox actually develop a player that is pretty damn good, then we can look at a timeline where they may be a good team. Montgomery looks to be good. I hope to God he is good, because if he fails, hope is going to be hard to come by. A guy like Ramos is the type of player the Sox haven't developed in a couple of decades. If he turns out to be a good MLB player, we may have some hope. If not, think of how bad the White Sox would still be if they didn't have Sale and Q and Eaton to trade. They aren't going to build through the draft. They aren't going to build through international signings. They aren't going to sign expensive free agents.
  12. They play a certain way and that train is leaving the station. Either you're on it or you arent.
  13. Yeah, how about building a team before talking about building another ballpark.
  14. I'm about as checked out as I have ever been. But I'll be tuning in on Opening Day,
  15. They were wooed by something else being built that will more than cover the cost of the ballpark project...same as it ever was. A very familiar pitch. The other interesting thing is the Sox don't draw very well there. I wonder If JR is going to need them to build him another complex, you know, so he can compete.
  16. Chicago and Illinois aren't alone in being taken to the cleaners by JR, Glendale got smoked. Tax revenue from anther development fell through. That sounds familiar. Any politician signing off on JR's 78 request should be done when their term ends. Glendale built its spring training facility for $152.6 million in 2009. The park stands in Phoenix, so Glendale only collects about $65,000 a year in sales tax on the site per a sharing agreement with Phoenix. The project left Glendale about $200 million in debt, which grows to $370 million over the next two decades when factoring interest. Debt payments are expected to claim nearly $2 of every $10 in the city's general fund next fiscal year. City officials originally planned to pay off debt with tax revenue from expected development and support from the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority. But the development fell through
  17. Make sure you have the right catering company on Gyro Night. My company had a Greek-themed lunch a while back. They guy making the gyros was putting one slice of meat on each pita. At least the chicken and rice were good.
  18. Just market Maldanado and DeJong hard. They, and Moustakis are playing for their careers much like guys like Rollins and Lawrie and Austin Jackson were years ago. People are sleeping. These guys are going to be great.
  19. They still have 6 years on their lease. If all these places are such hot spots and better than a non revenue sharing recipient Chicago, why aren't there teams there yet?
  20. If they had to pick between the Sox and Bears, good chance the Bears win. A dome could bring Super Bowls, Final Fours etc. That’s new money, not just local money being spent elsewhere.
