  1. If the ISFA is still in existence when this is built, I would like them to alter the rent agreement that now gives them a break when they suck, and have it tied into wins. The more you win, the lower your rent. JR would never go for it.
  2. By the time they got that entire development built, the Sox would be crying about needing a new stadium.
  3. All fine and dandy. Now the big question. Who pays for it?
  4. I get Moncada being a disappointment. But I think McGuffy is taking it a bit far. He's put up over 14 WAR in 727 games as a Pale House. Its over 3.0 fWAR per 162, That's not even close to one of the biggest busts in team history.
  5. I think that's a good bet. They will be bad, but you almost have to try to lose 99 games. The only worry you have is Pedro is still the manager.
  6. Who knows. It would be nice if the White Sox had too many good players, but that never happens. I suspect some of these guys will be duds. I also hope Getz trades Benintendi if he somehow is having a good enough year someone would take him for nothing. He might have a year or even two of being tolerable, but that contract is already ugly for a team as cheap as the White Sox.
  7. If Getz and Barfield are both that wrong on this one, they should be fired. I think the smart money on how both of the trades will wind up years from now, is a bunch of nothing for a bunch of nothing. I guess I just like an OF who can catch the ball, and actually take a walk. All these way sub .300 OBP guys he's been acquiring make for very boring baseball games.
  8. Getz would have to be wrong the opposite way he's been wrong, in thinking a guy is nothing, but he is indeed something. I guess the other thing is White Sox prospects generally don't work out. Especially ones, who, while in AAA at 20, were down the list a bit.
  9. I think Getz wins both. The only way the Santos trade is bad is if he turns dominant. I can't see it, plus arm troubles. Both Getz and Barfield would have to be wrong for the AZ trade not to work.
  10. Considering what Barfield and Getz used to do, if this trade bothers you, They should have as much info on both players possible.
  11. People don't go to the bars around Wrigley all that much if there is no game. I read an article a couple of years ago about Goose Island who had an outpost there. They lost their lease. The landlord wanted to go month to month but they couldn't do it because if he pulled it right before the season started, they would lose a ton of money. A lot of turnover around there.
  12. And the draft pick is higher than any comp pick for giving a QO would be, so there’s that.
  13. Considering Getz and Barfields previous positions. If there ever was a mid level prospect trade the Sox should win, it would bee this one. If this blows up, there probably is no hope. And with the Santos trade. The only way that really bites the White Sox is if Santos becomes a perennial dominant reliever, which I doubt.
  14. There were warts with both, but generally agree, although rue the day may be a bit much.A lot of people here were praising the addition of Josh Barfield when Getz added him to the staff. You have to figure this trade was his baby, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out. What I loved about both trades was that they both were old school trades where money had nothing to do with it.
  15. If I was managing against the White Sox, I would walk Robert 4 times a game, or at least have the pitcher throw sliders 2 feet outside exclusively, and take my chances scoring 3 runs against the Sox pitching staff. I think if you take Robert out of the equation, scoring more than 2 runs is going to be a colossal challenge .
  16. Nothing says can’t waste a year more than the guys Getz has picked up. Awesome.
  17. Who are the young guys they will be showing? Kind of hard to see if you are in Charlotte or Birmingham.
  18. I’m starting to think the White Sox are unaware of the tanking rules, and still think they have a shot at the first pick in 2025.
  19. It’s a good thing the Sox didn’t sign Machado or Harper. If they did they might have been able to go after guys like Dom Smith now.
  20. I agree. They didn't have to go nuts, but at least try to put something on the field where if everything went right, they were decent. The 10th pick for 2024 had 78 wins in 2023, so their draft position will not be hurt unless things went right and they actually won some games. And isn't that the strategy with the Bulls?
