QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 07:08 AM) Is there any particular reason you feel the need, or even worse, the authority, to be so mean and hostile to this guy all of the time? Get off of his case already! Leave him alone and let him post whatever he wants. If you don't care for his views, then just block him. That's what the block function is for. Just calling him out for his previous comments which contradict his latest comments. Since you are here to offer advice, why don't you take your own?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 07:04 AM) The ignore feature is there for a reason. If someone curses at me, I will respond in turn. In all the years on this board, I have never cursed at another poster nor a member of the White Sox. The mods can just delete this thread anyway, nobody really cares about your personal war with me. My posts about developing a hitter, about Desmond and Jackson, about Kiki Hernandez....100% doom and gloom. I know one thing, since 1979, I've never gone out of my way to judge other White Sox fans and tell them how to act and behave. iPoor Caulfield Besides, if you left the board only to return because of my comments, that's amazing since the comments were posted hours after you had left and weren't coming back until Robin was fired, which according to you was going to be pretty soon.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 06:58 AM) Does it really help your case to curse? You always complain about being attacked personally but what do you do to others? I haven't mentioned the Royals for a long time, you keep interjecting them deliberately to get a reaction. The only thing I know is that it would be nice if we came into Opening Day prepared to compete and not still in spring training mode. 8-11 5.5 games back 14-15 3 games back 10-15 5 games back 11-11 1 game back 10-18 9 games back 9-14 6 games back 11-10 tied 14-13 up 1 game 12-11 2.5 games back Is there any team in baseball over the last 9 years that has never been more than 1 game over .500 coming out of April? You can curse all you want, but there are numerous posters here who question the leadership and atmosphere around this team. At least I've tried to present numerous solutions in recent days. It's your prerogative to attack all of them if it gives you an exceeding amount of pleasure, but I haven't seen any of your suggestions or solutions other than it would be fine if we sign Cespedes, Upton, Gordon and Fowler. To tell the truth, I was going to leave the board this weekend (until Ventura was fired) but I saw you making more comments once again accusing me of being a Royals' fan, and that I cannot abide. If that was actually the case, you would be able to find me easily on one of their boards. I'm the only one who consistently writes with an ellipsis (....) in most of my paragraphs. Nobody is capable of to influencing me to change the team I root for, and there's also no point in following your favorite team and being self-restricted in your fandom because of some random person on the internet. Have at it. You make a Todd Frazier quote thread of your very own, and what does this post have to do with Todd Frazier? Seriously you are lost. And the "threat" of you leaving the site only I blew it for everyone? LMAO, that was the 3rd time you said you were gone only to return sooner each time. For some reason, you like to spend the majority of your day posting doom and gloom on White Sox message boards. You must be bored out of your skull.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 30, 2016 -> 11:58 PM) If he's just referring to the atmosphere of SoxFest or meeting some of his new teammates for the first time, sure. What is the perception around the league the White Sox clubhouse in your idea...? We've seen a number of stories in the last week or two about lack of leadership, without quotes or pointing fingers at any specific players still with the team. WTF else would he be referring? Besides he mentioned Avila and Navarro and Sale. Avila and Navarro have never been in a White Sox clubhouse either. Do you have a problem with Sale? This routine of yours is so f***ing old and tired. We get it, the Royals are great, anything the White Sox do is bad, and any quote from anyone should be spun to explain why the White Sox suck. If Frazier said the atmosphere was intense, and not laid back. You would have said that was the problem. Why don't you just tell us what Frazier should have said that shouldn't make anyone pause,

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 04:04 AM) After Anderson, Fulmer and Adams, we might not have any prospects worth $12-15 million, for one thing. But it all depends on the hitter. Unquestionably, we could have Austin Jackson, Kiki Hernandez, Alex Guerrero or Scott Van Slyke for much less than that. And the final aspect is not only that pick itself but the elevated draft pool money that allows us to find another Adams between round 2-10. Haven't you mentioned the White Sox have a 2 year window? What kind of help would the 28th pick be halfway through one of those 2 years? Your arguments constantly contradict themselves depending on the latest White Sox rumor. I mentioned the draft pick and the increased bonus pool when the Sox didn't trade Samardzija at the deadline. It is amazing how that has gone from fairly worthless to so valuable in such a short time. Are you 100% confident Spencer Adams is going to be a big time pitcher? I hope he is but there are some red flags. He was very young for his level but he gave up hits and struck guys out at pretty much the same rate John Danks did in 2015.

Depending how badly the Dodgers want to get rid of Ethier before he becomes a 5/10 guy, maybe they would take LaRoche since they still would be saving some money and either trade or release him.
-
Listening to the RV/RH seminar this morning , it certainly seemed they are hoping to sign someone who has a QO attached. Hahn gave the stock answer about the team being good enough right now, but repeated several times the the true deadline was opening day. OF, IF, and pitcher are all targets. He doesn't like to name names either, but did mention a Matt Thornton reunion isn't going to happen.

Ventura: LaRoche will have to earn his spot in Spring Training
Dick Allen replied to Sockin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 30, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) 50 at bats, in spring training or whatever it is, will not be enuf to judge anyone. the point of regressing is also how to gage it, when he is horrible in the beginning of every season. so he is on the team, the fans should accept this, and see if there is some improvement come june, mid june. that is all i am trying to point out in how i see this. i can't help it, it just doesn't make sense to what RV is saying. If you aren't going to believe them when they say he needs to earn a job and the only answer you will accept is he is going to be paid $13 million so he is going to play no matter what, why would any of these posts interest you or bother you? -

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jan 30, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) I certainly hope that is the case but the cynic in me can list millions of reasons (as in dollars) why I'd be shocked if he was benched or cut outright. The White Sox don't let go of guys with that much money on the table regardless of how bad they are. We're talking what 14 million? Mark Not quite that amount but see Keppinger, Jeff. -
QUOTE (Tony @ Jan 30, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) From the pictures I'm seeing on social, the place looks like a ghost town. True? No

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 05:36 PM) I agree, but why the hell is he there in the first place? It is Soxfest and he is a White Sox.

Ventura: "White Sox have potential to be dangerous"
Dick Allen replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Avi is down 20 lbs. and worked 3 days in Miami with Steverson and is now done swinging at bad pitches. -
It was on the internet they would only go 3 years, so Hahn has to be lying.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 12:37 PM) You think Frazier will be better defensively than Saladino was??? I think Frazier is an average 3B and Saladino is slightly better than average. I think Sanchez is an outstanding 2B and I think Lawrie is a very good one. I have no clue if Saladino is better at SS than the 2nd half Alexei. I think the infield is slightly worse defensively than last year but they needed more offense and the infield will be much better offensively. That is why I feel they need to improve the outfield defensively to offset what I perceive to be a drop in the infield defense. I have no clue how the catcher defense will compare to last year. Infield defense wasn't a problem the second half of last year. The first half it was about as bad as it gets. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 11:11 AM) He was a big time prospect and he's still only 24 years old. I just have a problem with his 9 innings last year. Seems there will be more than a little rust or a wall at an inopportune time.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 08:42 AM) Buehrle's easily one of my favorite players ever, but I hope this is to announce he's retiring. While I trust he wouldn't go out there if he was going to embarrass himself, if he hasn't been working out, and the shoulder hasn't been examined backwards and forwards, I agree. I really don't want to see Buerhle getting lit up onto the waiver wire.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 08:40 AM) AJax is probably more expensive than we think. I agree. I would imagine at this point if you asked Boras what it would take to sign him today, we all would be flabbergasted.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 08:41 AM) What if they win 85 games? The guy is a Royals fan who twice said he was leaving this site until KW or Robin were fired. What he is showing now is his true colors basically saying the Sox will suck, Robin will be fired, and then he will be back with all his every move the Sox make is stupid posts. -
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 08:32 AM) Dont insult Chris Sale like that. He should be opening day starter for the rest of his career. What he is saying is the 5th starter should be starting the home opener this year. That could be Buehrle, but I would imagine he is retiring.
-
QUOTE (Lillian @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 07:58 AM) Exactly, and please note, even his OBP has not been that good vs. RHP. Over that same last three years, it's under .350 It's .351 for his career and over .390 vs. LHP. That is an on base machine for the current White Sox.
-
He would really be doing the team a favor by retiring today. That would be the main Soxfest question after the Gordon/Upton/Cespedes whiff.

I wonder if Merkin has memory problems. Exactly one year ago Avi showed up to Soxfest in tremendous shape. Almost unrecognizable . Said he was eating a lot of fish. Going to breakout. I like Avi. I thought he worked his ass off to get some ABs in 2014, so I wouldn't doubt he is a hard worker. But until he starts laying off of pitches he can't hit very hard, he is toast. That isn't something you can change overnight.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) Smart by Indians..don't get why they don't bring back Raburn The thing that made it sound even more legit than just some posturing was he said they discussed it, and didn't think it was a good idea.
