  1. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:13 PM) These are just depth moves, they'll absolutely be in on Yo and Upton I would think so as well.
  2. If this is in leiu of signing a real outfielder, It seems strange. How much are they paying theses guys?
  3. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 03:53 PM) He has talked repeatedly about being responsible to the rest of the board members. I'm not as confident as Dick Allen is that this is true. He has a history of criticizing JR and his budget statments and esponsibilities. I respect his opinion but he is far from impartial when it comes to opinions on JR. The only time I really ever gave JR hell about payroll was 2009 when he held season ticket holder playoff money hostage and lowered payroll, and KW cried poor. After that he traded for Peavy and claimed Rios. Here is a Tribune story from a couple of years ago showing total control, even being able to sell the team without any other shareholders consent. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-07...chael-reinsdorf
  4. It doesn't matter if JR owns 98%, 55% or 1% of the team, whatever he wants to do, he can do. That is how it is set up. He has all the power. The others get a suite, are able to call themselves owners, and get paid when the team sells, or have to cut a check when they get a cash call which from what I heard hasn't happened since the late 80s.
  5. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) If he isn't the majority owner, how can he sell the team? He has made it clear he thinks his family should sell the team. He is the Chairman. He put the group together. He has all the power, and his executor gets it when he is gone.
  6. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 03:13 PM) As the chairman yes he can do what he wants but how long do you think he will remain the chairman if he runs the team into the red? Probably until he dies. But he wouldn't run the team into the red every year. Assuming they haven't paid out any of the partners, they should have quite the war chest sitting somewhere. But the problem with overspending is it leads to more overspending, and then you get into big trouble.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) Actually, he's just chairman. I don't believe that he's the majority owner. I don't think he's the majority owner, but he is correct about being able to do what he wants.
  8. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) If they want to pay it, go right ahead and don't worry about overpaying. It's not that big of a deal. Ask MC Hammer how that approach works out.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) Well yeah, of course if you filter to "last 4 years", but that's because you've now limited it to "guys who have been consistent over 4 years". Yeah why use a 4 year stretch, when you can use a smaller sample size to say someone isn't any good. Especially with advanced defensive stats. Are there dark clouds everyday in your world?
  10. It has been mentioned, especially if a FA OF is added, the Sox will have significantly upgraded their offense without using Anderson or Fulmer, or Adams in trades. More importantly, they didn't use Quintana.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien 28s28 seconds ago Can the White Sox get into the Upton/Cespedes/Gordon sweepstakes? Hahn said "We shall see." That is beyond encouraging. .
  12. My reaction was what is next? I am no prospect lover, but they have to keep going if they are trying to win. They cannot stop here, or they lose the trade. If they do and fall short, whether you love Trayce, Micah, and Montas, hate them or are indifferent, it makes no sense to trade them for a guy who will be around 2 years, if you are going to be a .500 or so team. You need to do whatever you can to get into the playoffs. Now it is about spending some money. Spend it JR. Get the guy that will take you over the top, and melt the doom and gloomers like the Wicked Witch of the West. Then it is a huge White Sox win.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 12:13 PM) Spiegel speculating Courtney Hawkins as a 4th outfielder this coming season. Turns off radio... It really is amazing guys whose profession sort of requires they know some things, are totally clueless.
  14. I posted this yesterday but Frazier's salary + Saladino's salary + Alexei's buyout
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:57 AM) It is courtney883, duh If that is really her photo on her twitter page, I believe everything she says.
  16. QUOTE (shysocks @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:56 AM) If Melky gets his s*** together that is swoon-worthy. Don't say swoon. We have seen enough of those.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) @courtney883 I have also heard from many credible sources that the #WhiteSox are still not done. A move in the outfield could be next. Any idea who this is?
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:47 AM) Seemed like most of them were on his slider, which to me was a better pitch than his fastball. As a starter though, he would struggle with only two pitches. Definite late-inning reliever to me. They are becoming more and more important. One thing I would worry about is his body, but you can't teach 100.
  19. Montas had 20 ks in 15 innings for the White Sox. That doesn't scream lack of deception.
  20. QUOTE (shysocks @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:38 AM) Sigh. Montas and Trayce are painful to lose. Have to get an outfielder now. Have to have to HAVE TO. Agreed. If you are going to go for it, go for it. Frazier only gets $7.5 million. Use the Shark money to get Upton or Cespedes.
  21. The Sox farm system just went down a couple of pegs. I really liked Micah and Montas who was throwing 100 at a game I was at. Trayce is overrated but would be a great 4th OF. This move is fine as long as they don't stop now boys. If you go into the season like this hoping for Avi to finally discover the difference between a ball and a strike, not only do you waste Sale, Abreu, Q. You also waste half of your control with both Lawrie and Frazier. It is imperative to get another bat for the OF.
  22. Is this a Rick Hahn or KW production, or do we have to see how they perform to determine?
  23. I think Frazier is all the Sox received. Unless the Sox go all in and get Upton or Cespedes, I do not like the deal. If they do, OK.
  24. Keep in mind to "pay" for a $10 million a year player with new ticket sales, the White Sox would have to sell about 2500 top of the line full season tickets. There aren't 2500 top of the line seats that aren't accounted for.
  25. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 10:02 AM) didn't JR in an interview last yr said that the club couldn't spend anymore, b/c the fans attending the game has improve??? that they couldn't do anymore until more fans comes out?? No he said he didn't blame the fans for not coming. That they had to provide a product worth watching.
