It's all about the bullpen's in the playoffs
Harry Chappas replied to Soxsi75's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Sox inability to hit a bullpen and shoddy defense is the issue. Kimbrel has not pitched good at all but he has not had any help with the defense. Sheets last night and Robert in the Boston game. He is not giving up multiple runs which is what I think is important. Again though, the White Sox are stymied by any bullpen arm. -
If there is no structural damage to his shoulder then there is still hope. Bring him back next week against he Reds and see what happens.

Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
Harry Chappas replied to Baron's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Go look at Kimbrels game logs. For some reason I still think he will be effective in the playoffs. not sure why I think this but I do. He is not getting his ass handed to him nightly it is one runner that always seems to come around to score. Robert and Sheets did him no favors recently. -
He had a few of them...so did Jenks. Kimbrel is the kind of guy that can be the Hermanson/El Duque of the 05 team. I think it is still there. He doesn't get blown out he just gives up a run it is odd.

Joe Crede got hot at the right time.

This team will go as far as the offense takes them. Giolito is back to the from they needed. I think Rodon is going through a dead arm thing. him saying he is healthy does nothing he needs to prove it. Cease your table is ready. Maybe Dallas gets the magic back. Oddly though I think Kimbrel will be fine also. The offense is still the thing that worries me.

9/20/21 White Sox @ Tigers 5:40pm

The trades are not the issue with this team. The inability of the offense to put consistently good at bats/games together are the main issue. 3 hits Saturday and 5 tonight. This will be why they go home quickly as it was last year. They cannot hit any bullpen. -
They could be playing LA for the top spot as long as the Padres don't implode and hand it to SF.

Sadly I went to 22 games this year ad hoc so I am only getting one per round this year. I like to the 2 in round 1. -

You are correct but the White Sox have not hit any bullpen well and do not hit well late in games in general. -
A 9 man pen is too many. Every guy can pitch every game there are plenty of off days and this is why guys are being handled with kid gloves now. I fear that Sheets will get bumped for Engel, Goodwin and Hamilton.

I talking to the White Sox about getting a 2 seat 20 game plan for next year for a little over $1,110. Will get me a game each round. -

Houston catching Tampa is the best thing that could happen for the White Sox. I want the White Sox to avoid the wildcard winner and think the Sox match up better with Tampa. Maybe it is 4D chess to sit back and watch as the other teams grind it out. Who knows how it will play out but that Tampa schedule is a nightmare. -

I'm not cheering for the Indians until the Sun times has the asterisk next to the White Sox name. -

One guy has had as much playoff success as anyone and one had zero. They may wimper out of he playoffs in three but I wouldn't think it is because the manager is unaware of how to prepare for the playoffs. It is maddening that two LHH were on the bench today who should have been given last evening off seeing as how Cobb seemed to struggle v LHH -

So the 8th inning reliever and number 9 hitter are why this offense has sucked since the end of June.....ok -
The right field corner literally is infested with alcohol options including what are essentially two brew pubs and an huge bar. Not to mention the stand alone places.

Guys will get rested as we are in the midst of a long stretch with no off days. My guess is Robert and Moncada are both out and Billy and Goodwin get to play.
