QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 27, 2014 -> 08:52 AM) I read somewhere over the weekend that WKRP in Cinncinati has finally cleared all the licensing hurdles and coming out on DVD. Johnny Fever and Venus Flytrap are back! Just in time to show the Thanksgiving show. The phone cops man...they play hardball. As God as my witness I thought turkeys could fly.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 27, 2014 -> 09:49 AM) Exactly. Everything's been fast-paced this season. I love it. Best season thus far. As long as new characters are limited the back stories should move forward now which is cool.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 27, 2014 -> 10:05 AM) I'll say this for Tucker: Yesterday we had an undrafted free agent starting at CB, an undrafted free agent starting at OLB, DJ Williams, a converted terrible first year OLB in McLellin, and a rookie safety. The Jets, whom have a great coach, have a similarly depleted secondary/LB situation and got torched by Kyle Orton. Similar to me in that the Jets have an offense that routinely puts the defense on the back of their heels. I think Tucker has done nothing to show he can develop talent, but that is a crap pie he has worked with, and it doesn't help that he has had tremendous bad luck on injuries as he institutes a new scheme. That said, the defense is bad. Really bad. But they would probably be decent if the offense could get ahead one of these days and they could pin their ears back. But they are always playing from behind. My problem is that hey were going to do some things differently on defense. Injuries or not I have not a seen the scheme change. The only difference is the interior d line can tackle people this year. Cutler is going to bring the whole franchise down with him this time although I think some team would take a chance on him if they were desperate for a quarterback. Emery can no longer blame the lack of talent on his predecessor he has had three off seasons to correct it and it has not gotten any better. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 24, 2014 -> 10:38 PM) Brother Rice beats St. Rita tonight. They've probably played the hardest scehdule in the state, so impressive season for them. Only opponent to not make their state playoff was Marist and other than Laurence every opponent could win their state title. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 24, 2014 -> 04:11 PM) Jayson Stark @jaysonst 39m39 minutes ago The more I hear from sources who have spoken with #Rays more convinced I am that there was almost no offer that could have kept Maddon there If Maddon ends up where it appears he'll end up, it'll be interesting to see how #Rays respond. Something changed tone of talks in last week The cubs may lose a 10th round draft pick in 2020
-
When next season starts Joe Maddon will be 61 years old The Tigers seem like a better bet and fit for him.
-
Maybe he wants to take a year off to collect his thoughts.

Too bad the Twins hired Moliter he would be good there as well. That is a stupid clause for a team to put in a contract unless it stipulated he was going to that team. The Tampa franchise should move anyway. Is the Texas job open?

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Oct 24, 2014 -> 12:01 PM) This is a game I will always remember for the rest of my life. Never been to a playoff game, but have been told the stadium was even better than some playoff games and I was there. Not trying to be disrespectful, but if you couldn't enjoy that game, I don't know what game would. One player shouldn't cloud your judgement on such a special game in Sox history. The pitching duel, Jr's catch, Thome's homer, Anderson's catch, there were so many great moments in that game. Swisher who??? Only thing I think that may have come close was the 10 inning playoff game in 1983. The 2005 playoffs were cool but there was no elimination game. The worst part of the 2008 playoffs was Javier Vazquez.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 24, 2014 -> 10:48 AM) I saw this yesterday and it kinda puts it into perspective. Number of deaths worldwide since October 3: Aids 1.28 million Tuberculosis 1.04 million Malaria 501,656 Ebola 3,330 I think some people are making this out to be a much bigger deal than it really is. Link The SARS Czar disagrees

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 24, 2014 -> 08:14 AM) Ebola just isn't spread all that easily. There were what, 48 people in close contact with the guy from Dallas, and only two people contracted it. They were medical professionals treating him directly. Not even the people he was sharing an apartment with contracted it. More people will die from the regular flu this winter than ebola in this country. There is no reason to freak out over it. True but more people will come down with the flu than ebola. The % of deaths of those that get the flu is much lower. ALS is a death sentence, cancer is not yet there is much less interest in ALS research because the contraction rate is much lower.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 24, 2014 -> 09:07 AM) Seriously. I can't believe Mike Carey was a ref. I have so much less confidence now in refs knowing he was a top one for 10 years. If you think NFL officials get their job because they are good at what they do, you would be correct about 20% of the time. -
Mens college football and basketball need to be taken as a whole other entity when compared to NCAA athletics. Curricula are created for them and if other students benefit great.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 23, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) Maybe not the only school doing this, but I don't see this happening at Big Ten or PAC 12 schools, or other elite schools like ND or Vanderbilt. I also don't see it happening very many places with the large number of athletes it did here. Duke has some program that was created for basketball players. I am not certain it is much different.

Why isn't Morse playing more?

I was in the port-a-jon having a smoke when Griffey made his play. Also Anderson made that catch look much harder than it really was. The game the day before was a better game sadly nobody was there to see it.

Some teams need him to be an ace and start every 5 days. The White Sox need him to fit into a 5 man rotation without a specification and make 32 starts. The fact Quintana and Sale make low money and pitch at a high level makes signing a bad contract a little more tolerable.

Pearl Jam played No Code Friday and Yield Monday in their entirety during their concerts. Not a big No Code fan but love Yield would have been cool to see.

The ACC sucks. Once Beemer retires Va Tech turns into KSU again. The occasional FSU game will be exciting but a majority of those teams are terrible at football and always will be. -
The long lay off killed some of the excitement.

As was pointed out earlier if the ball is thrown behind the LOS it is not a penalty. Not sure if that was supposed to be the route but that is how the play is designed to be run. The offensive players can not block down field if the ball is passed beyond the LOS. As Illini also posted there are manuals and case books that assist in understanding that situation. That would not be categorized as a pick play as neither receiver impeded the defender, they were blocking them. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 17, 2014 -> 08:22 AM) I believe Brother Rice will get their 3rd loss tonight at Providence. Yes but they should handle Rita next week. Oddly Rice Providence are usually good games. The Brother Rice coach really over-scheduled his team. They could easily ended up 8-1 and just as easily could have ended up 1-8. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) How come Brother Rice traveled to Michigan to lose a game and Indianapolis to lose a game? Aren't there enough teams to play in the Chicago area? It's their only two losses so far. What am I missing here with that kind of schedule? The reasoning? St Fancis De Sales folded so they needed to get a game. It is kind of like NCAA where mediocre teams do not want to play good teams. Happened in the DVC and there is one conference where teams are playing one another twice. The bigger 8A and 7A teams are struggling to find enough out of conference games.
