QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 3, 2014 -> 11:16 AM) The highest priority should be the bullpen. A big time starter and the pen A big bat for the OF or DH Flowers replacement would cost more in players or cash than it is worth. See McCann, Brian or Montero, Jesus. Seattle lucked out with the injury to Pineda but if he comes back to what he was, that was bad trade for Seattl.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 04:21 PM) I didn't know this and it's a shame. Why is it that all of the elections are now becoming vote for the lesser of two evils rather than someone you could really get behind. Any hope of change you had will soon be dashed here. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/p...0902-story.html

2014-2015 NFL Football thread

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 01:38 PM) Nice! From the University of Chief Illiniwek and he went to high school with greg...well the same high school not sure if they attended together. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 04:03 PM) Baseball Reference @baseball_ref 3m Price is the 1st pitcher since Andy Hawkins in 1990 to lose while pitching a complete game with 0 ER allowed and 1 or fewer hits allowed I believe I was at that game. Lost while throwing a no-hitter at he old baseball yard.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) Beckham's defense has been poor the last couple years. Borchard never did what Beckham did right after being called up. Borchasrd lead to Thorton so in totality Borcahrd really did havea positive impact on the organization. Hawk is sad.

Jose Abreu does the ice bucket challenge
Harry Chappas replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 02:10 PM) I have no issues with the ice bucket challenge, nor do I have an issue with donating to ALS research, but I do want to go off topic for just a moment to plug the fact that over 10 times as many people die from prostate/breast cancer as ALS. How many survive prostate/breast cancer v ALS? -
Hahn- Deal could happen before Aug 31
Harry Chappas replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Dunn will be moved to a contender and the White Sox will eat the salary to try and get him a ring. Dunn while sucking has been a good teammate and clubhouse guy. -
I may go to their viewing party I live a mile away from their home field.

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 02:00 PM) It concerns me that the focus of this article is Rodon's changeup, which he admitted he "rarely used," but at the end it still stresses he has "better than average" chance of reaching the majors this year. Considering Boras wasn't willing to cut a deal that includes a September call-up and instead wrung the White Sox for every cent they had AND he has to improve a secondary offer he admits himself he barely throws....can we pump the breaks on his promotions? He did not need that pitch to be successful in college so there was no use in having it. He will need it to be elite and seeing yesterday's results it seems like it may not be far off. Once Coop throws the cutter in there......

Rob Manfred is the new MLB Commissioner
Harry Chappas replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
I found this somewhat interesting but it did not really make since. Werner and Moreno give out boat loads of money to their players. I do not see them looking for balance or a work stoppage. This seemed like a poorly written piece to me. If Reinsdorf is aligning with those two there is a ton of dough going in pockets. http://deadspin.com/today-mlbs-owners-deci...-war-1620702208 -
I really do not understand how nobody wanted Dunn in some aspect for a playoff roster.
-
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 12:32 PM) I don't think it's necessarily showcasing Dunn, it's just Dunn's offense + defense > Viciedo's offense + defense. I am not certain Viciedo defense > Dunn defense

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 03:57 PM) I enjoyed the first season, but eventually gave up. The show just didn't go anywhere. And the characters all kinda sucked. It is kind of like Sons of Anarchy, started out awesome but then there is not really much more to build on. I still watch it and it is a decent enough show.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 07:28 AM) Oh, they've said it's a possible change? Yes move to those dimensions and move the age to 13 not 12. LLB is kind of dead and it is not all that are to get of the state any longer. There are no local bounded little leagues any longer.

Next year it may be 50/70.

Tony Stewart purposefully ran someone over?
Harry Chappas replied to Steve9347's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Why is Tony Stewart still racing on dirt tracks, that is my question in all of this. I know little about auto racing but what is the difference in that and Kane playing hockey in a church league? -
ring chasers like Miami not sure they will like Cleveland

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 09:43 AM) A caller on the score just said he's a white sox fan but he's been watching more cubs games this year because of the young guys their calling up and how it's fun to see something being built blah blah blah. I guess seeing eaton , avisail , Abreu , sale , Quintana is not enough lol and we have some decent prospects too like Johnson who doesn't get as much hype, semien etc. people get so caught up with prospects and forget about the proven young players on a team already. Like people will say do the white sox have the best farm system like the cubs? No but I wouldn't trade places with the cubs. Your still hoping for those guys to pan out because ATM they haven't done anything(aside from Rizzo and Castro) ill take the sox players mentioned above since besides avisail, we've seen them succeed Funny that person is a cub fan who obviously wanted to make a point, although not correct, a point none the less.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 08:51 AM) Must. Sell. Tickets. Personally I think it is a showcase to trade him this off-season. If he does well sell high. Teams seem to love to overpay for cub players whether minor or majors players.

Rios OPS for this series will be over 1.000 book it.

James leaves Cavs, they suck get all the picks and build something and then poof they have everything they need to rebuild a team around James. Pure genius how it worked out. This is similar to what folks thought the Bulls should have done the last two years (i.e. tank) with Rose out.
