  1. Rienzo ends up like Massett when he left and Jennings ends up like Thornton when he came here and everyone lives happily every after.
  2. While not a follower of the Marlins of he career of Dan Jenings, from this http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/j/jennida01.shtml it looks like a really good trade.
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) It seems substantially better than Danks and Noesi to me. Better yes but to me none of those players are substantially better than replacement level players. Green and Noesi could be the outliers..
  4. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 10:37 AM) Is this Lamar guy straight trolling? That is what I think.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 10:11 AM) Seems like a really good trade for Boston, and I'll be surprised if they're not able to retain Porcello long-term They'll lock him up long term. I think that is a good trade for both of them actually.
  6. anyone see the joke; Why did Lester choose the cubs? He was promised his Octobers off.
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 12:23 AM) You sound like a real happy guy.. What would be a good move to you? He is a troll
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 09:12 AM) Good for Brandon... But seriously, did the Dodgers learn nothing from the rest of their stupid contracts? They are only stupid if they hamper you from making moves in the future. Cespedas must be a real piece of work. That Tiger clubhouse will be something. If Tigers Resign Max, they are a better team.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 07:06 PM) Really...so pathetic: 16: That’s how many times in the past 20 seasons, including this one, that the Bears have missed the playoffs, a sobering reality that leaves them in rare company in the NFC. Since 1995, the only teams to have fewer than five playoff appearances are the Lions (four), Bills (four), Redskins (four), Cardinals (three), Raiders (three), Texans (two) and Browns (one). The Lions and Bills are still alive to reach the postseason this season. The Browns entered the league as an expansion team in 1998. The Texans did so in 2002. Pathetic but not surprising
  10. So the contracts with Boston and the cubs are even except the cubs gave him $20M to sign and the potential for a 7th year.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 11:45 AM) I think this Kershaw guy in LA just might squeeze in ahead of those two. As would Price
  12. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 09:46 AM) Olney says Lester gets a signing bonus of around 20 mil. But the loyalty and he and Theo. MLBN was making a big to do about Cody Ross potentially signing with the cubs to insure the deal.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 09:32 AM) Who is Harvey? Kris Bryant sorry was thinking Bryan Harvey for some reason, it was early.
  14. Bryant and Russell from the cubs would be a good starting point.
  15. They spent $60M to get Addison Russell. Over the life of that contract JS will out perform JL. They got a top flight pitcher with a lot of wear and tear who may decline as these hitters start to excel. Going after Longoria will cost Harvey plus Russell. It was a move they had to make.
  16. So SOA is done. It had its moments and hope for a prequel.
  17. Every team has holes. You need to minimize them best you can.
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:24 PM) i don't know of AJ, he was more like, i hate to play against him, but its nice to have on your team. Swisher, yeah he was. but not as bad. there was that 3b as well, can't remember his name. Herbert Perry?
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) That would have happened in the gap between the last season and the previous season. Ya I know I was just jacking around.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) Not to mention it was almost criminal to skip over the St Valentines massacre. Damn you I still have two episodes left!!!!
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 03:21 PM) I meant after the season ends, when Cueto/Price would be free agents. That makes more sense. Signing an ace via free agency just gets too risky.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 03:16 PM) I know the Cubs are going to end up signing or trading for an ace. I'd rather it be Lester as opposed to Zimmermann or Price or Cueto. If they give Lester a 7 year deal, that would be insane. By the time their stud prospects become stars (if they end up reaching their potential), then it's likely Lester will be well past his peak. Zimmerman or Price will cost them a good prospect if not two making it a lateral move. I do not think the Reds are making that trade in their division.
  23. Nate Jones could be an excellent mid-season pick up.
