Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians
Harry Chappas replied to justBLAZE's topic in 2012 Season in Review
If Konerko is hurting that bad flip him and Rios in the lineup or put him on the DL he is doing nothing to help this team and has not for some time. Ventura's inability to recognize when players are overmatched is one if his biggest flaws. -

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) No it isn't. How many full years have other team's top 2 starters gone through? Our guys are young and aren't used to a full season yet. Look at the scores of the games the last week. The pitching young and old is fine. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 08:48 PM) Most teams don't have 3 pitchers that have thrown an insane more innings than they did the previous year. The pitching is fine, not great but fine. This is the corpseball days where the pitcher could not give a run and be safe. You can not score 3 runs a game and expect to win everyday. -

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) He's tired, Quintana is tired, Addison Reed is tired, Peavy is tired, Dunn, Konerko, AJ AND Youk are beat up... This team is wore the f*** out. So is every team in baseball this is a lame excuse. -

The resiliency of this team is gone. You can send this one to Cooperstown. Maybe it is the fact that there is no bench or what not but his team is toast, burnt toast. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) That fastball was right in his wheelhouse. Sox still cannot get a freaking hit with RISP. 0-5 tonight. What new? -

Well that was quite the pathetic start. The number 8 hitter in the AL with RISP is batting eighth in the White Sox lineup. -
Guillen used to work at being a manager, now he is a clown. He used to be in charge, now he is a clown. That's what I think.
-
I think the pitching staff is fine. All pitching staffs are tired at this time of the year. My issue is the hitting. They are regressing to the mean when it comes to RISP. If they somehow can get some consistency they could make some noise. Nobody outside of Rios is doing anything right now.....oh and the weather is getting cool.
-
In the end the pitching staff is good enough. As goes another year of inconsistent hitting that will cost them a playoff spot yet again.
-
i said earlier in this thread that Albert and Hunter would each homer and have 5 RBI each in this series, they each have two RBI. The advanced scouting for the White Sox is non-existent as the same players kill them

Erv's in a groove. Nothing to see here. Wow is this offense abysmal maybe Walker wasn't the problem.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 10:16 PM) The Tigers play horribly on the road...where they will be to end the season. The Tigers are also going to have a much more difficult time sweeping the Twins with a day/night doubleheader Sunday. As long as we're in first place on Monday, even if it's a tie for 1st, we'll probably be okay. Even if we're down by 1, we play the Indians well and the Rays might already be eliminated from all reasonable contention...not to mention we don't face David Price as things are currently lining up, obviously subject to change. Really does not matter this team is looking like last year's now where the pitcher can not make a mistake as the offense cannot generate anything whatsoever. Last night was a prime example Liriano was doing fine yet he was pulled because the Sox were not generating any offense and have not for the last few weeks. the starters have been fine all year but suddenly the offense has nothing except for Rios. Jeff Manto can send this one to Cooperstown. Unless the approach at he plate is addressed the word is out. Breaking stuff away fastballs in.

Wonder if DeAza is hurt. Anyway CF play cost us last night and tonight. Maybe not having a bench all season and overworking the starters is coming back to hurt them as this team looks tired and unprepared. Albert may drive in mroe runs them them this whole series. Seems like weeks since a four run inning.
-
Albert and Tori Hunter will each homer and drive in at least five runs for the series.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 10:22 PM) I'm a grad. I know their enrollment went way way down after the big administration shake up a few years back. I think their current junior and senior classes are small. Not sure beyond that. Prior coach seemed to kind of lose interest, school took a big step backward a couple of years back. They seemed to have revitalized themselves and are now headed in a good direction. -
Good, solid baseball for 9 innings?

QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 11:30 PM) This team has been in first place for 120 days. I'd say they played plenty good innings. Tallest midget in a s*** division. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) No, Myers isn't going to hit the necessary games finished mark. Then that is poor managing. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 09:38 PM) Yikes, not a good start. Looks like we got "everything up in the zone" Crain tonight. Think Meyers contract made this decision? Should have brought him in the 6th. -

They missed about ten hangers the last three innings. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 09:07 PM) Let's never go ADA, Wise and Dunn 1/2/3 in the order again for that very reason. Way too easy to manage against. The lineup would have worked if not for stupid base running. Now you have to pinch hit for them. Ventura strikes again. -

Looking back at the last inning. The triple and lead off single, one of them should have been caught. Giavanella's ball was a deep fly ball. Either way Liriano had good stuff and just lost it. The blown opportunities and now Guthrie getting on a roll...ugh -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 11:32 PM) Harry, Dan and Buehrle are u all Rice grads? DO you think Mt. Carmel will pound Rice this Friday? I watched last Friday's game on the Internet. It's amazing when high school quarterbacks throw that many times. I would think some weeks the turnovers may come in bunches. So far so good, though for Br. Rice. I went to Rice. MC will beat them. MC usually handles Rice rather well as they are fast. The new coach gets his guys to play which the former coach did not. Rice did not give up to Marist and beating Rita was huge. They are a program on the rise for certain.
