  1. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) Losing this game guarantees a protected draft pick. Does anyone really care if we lose? no but it does give a glimpse into some of guillen's stupid moves
  2. Leaving Sale out there is stupd. Why not bring in Reed. Maybe Cooper had more bullpen say that what we thought. This is ozziesque.
  3. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) I can't think of a more fitting way to end this season than what appears to be happening now. A Thehen slam. He got Toronto with the Sox and now may get the Sox with Toronto. Did the Jays mess up a squeeze?
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) He had somewhere around 50 pitches a day ago. Sale threw a few pitches last night Cooper looking Ozzish here
  5. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) Ala Dave Wannstedt. Still not sold that just because he's been in Maddon's jock for the past few years that he's THE s***! I'll still take Alomar... Maddon is arguably the best manager in baseball and uses stats to all the moves he makes. While there is no certainty having a pupil of his can not hurt. What has Alomar done to prove he is better than Martinez? The guy was a firstbase coach. I am fine with either.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) Yeah they are the last team anyone wants to manage. I think its clear its Tito or Martinez and Frankly I like both. hope KW doesn't f*** up and hire Tino Martinez
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) Let's face it, if the Tigers go out and sign someone like Reyes and get superior seasons again from Fister/Avila/Peralta...we tip our cap to them. Sox have to win with what they currently have. sure and reyes will be hurt and play about 80 games but I see your point and agree. There really is nothing the Sox can do and they just need to hope the potential and health show up. Martinez was very healthy this year for them and I am not certain Verlander will not get injured and Velerde had a Cotts/Politte year They are the team to beat but I think they are beatable.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 03:13 PM) You know, he's actually been somewhat effective bunting for hits this year. not sure about that, last night he almost bunted it into the crowd down the LF line......in about 45 minutes we should never have to see that again which is a good thing.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) Good, 2012 shouldn't matter. If Dunn and Rios don't turn it around, it's very unlikely any possible moves he could make to improve the team would push the Sox over the top. The 2012 roster is set. Let Juan go. Trade three (maybe all four) of Quentin, Thorton, Danks and Floyd Resign Mark If Peavy, Rios, Beckham and Dunn have bounce back years they can contend if they do not it will be 2011 all over again. If De Aza, Lillibridge, Viciedo, Flowers and Morel mature as a natural progression along with the young pitching they will be fine. It may not look great to baseball prospectus but with some health, luck and a manager that cares, it may work out well.
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) With the current state of the Sox, the managerial job is not a good one. Due to the success of the Rays, Martinez will get to pick his spot (Cubs?) the White Sox are a much more desirable destination than the cubs There is no proof that Ricketts will spend money and look to improve the cubs situation what vacant jobs will be more desirable...maybe Boston.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) Sandy called a very good game. Catchers tend to make great managers and I have always said Sandy would be a manager some day. If you have Sandy, you definitely would like to have an experienced bench coach though. I wonder who that would be? John Mclaren, Sandy Alomar Sr or Buddy Bell
  12. as an F you to ozzie it would have been great to see Pierre bat 9th these last two games AJ has seen 7 pitches in three at bats today Flowers has seen 15 in three at bats today I see no reason to believe Flowers OPS will be lower than AJ's moving forward
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:27 PM) I guess now that the shock has worn off (More the reality has set in than shock) and it's becoming old news, I'll stop repeating my positions on Ozzie now as I did on Bobby and Dye and Wise eventually. I'm not even tempted to repeat my reasons for loving Ozzie after reading the last two posts, so I guess I'm about done on commenting on Ozzie. as recently as August...hell the Detroit series in early September I still thought guillen was the best option....the b****ing about the contract prior to that series and then the manner in which he felt in my opinion that he was bigger than the team and the franchise is the reason I am glad he is gone He could have waited until tomorrow and sit down with JR and even KW decide if this thing was doable. To begin this process in September makes him look like an arrogant prick...then to resign with two days left makes him look even more childish and spoiled which I now believe was the bigger issue with the entire organization the last 3 years
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:20 PM) I've backed Ozzie for years, but its hard to believe you still love the guy after he just quit on the team and left for more money. agreed guillen admitted the passion to coach the White Sox was gone what else could be done.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) Yeah, I doubt we'll be thinking about pitchers when BLOOD IS FALLING FROM THE SKY FOR NO REASON!!! is this related to he nastiness of blue jays? (see game thread)
  16. Flowers plate presence is pretty good. Cut down on the strikeouts and he is good to go. Beckham homers In about 2 hours hopefully the end of the left handed grindy slap happy no power non-walking caught stealing dumb base running leadoff man comes to an end for the Chicago White Sox.
  17. hope fully this the last of the juan pierre experience..
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) I'll forget about it after today, but I don't think it's the right thing to do. The season is 162, not 160. If he's healthy enough to play for the fans that pay his salary, he owes it to them to be out there today. he can probably give all of that fans at the game today $50 and would not even spend $3,000
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:55 PM) Agreed in principle. On any day 80 percent of the open parking spaces on my 2 block stretch are occupied with non-Chicago resident's cars. I know this because I did a survey in preparation for making my block a zoned parking area (A big f*** you goes out to Alderman Burnett who has yet to read my petition after 6 months). Those people should all have city parking stickers or be subject to a 50 dollar per day fine. I find it humorous that I work in Lincoln and everything is zoned (and residential) yet a quick bus ride or cheap cab ride to the loop and no zone parking for the west loop. Maybe the city has not realized that the neighborhood is safe to park in.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 09:27 AM) Nice. I can look at his performance with the Broncos, too. The Bears are a joke. Their line is a joke, their receivers are a joke, and it's time for a new f***ing era since we've wasted the entire Brian Urlacher era on pathetic f***ing offenses. But they went to a Super Bowl and a Conference Championship game
  21. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 11:47 AM) I have heard that the Marlins are looking to sign a big name player to generate some interest this off season. I wonder if they go after Pujols. was reported yesterday it is Fielder
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 11:48 AM) He's getting 8 million more in fla, how is that not much more? The assumption being next year is his last season. If he waited until this season was over and spoke of an extension, that same contract is not unfathomable. The pitching coach got a four year deal from the White Sox. The Florida deal is not all that it was reported to be especially working for Loria.
  23. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) Let's see: Ozzie - GONE Walker - GONE Pierre - Probably Gone Teahen - Long Gone. If Rios and Dunn return to decency, who are we going to b*tch about next year? There's got to be somebody. beckham
  24. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 09:58 AM) Supposedly total assholes in the bird world, though. I think you are confusing them with cardinals maybe they are both badasses an Ornithologist I am not
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 11:16 AM) I think Ozzie made himself look bad. If Ozzie doesn't go out and stay stupid s*** about money being the most important thing etc, he would have come out this looking like an angel. Let me clarify myself. ozzeroo is making himself look bad but I think the media is actually letting him off the hook and he could be portrayed much worse especially with the fact he is not getting all that much more coin in Florida.
