The O line is doing nothing to help but Cutler is having a terrible game. The packers are just blitzing every time and Cutler has no clue as to what to do. -

The defensive pressure seems to have gotten to Rogers. If the reason the Bears are not pressuring teams at home is due to the field they need to really do something about it. I know that is a hot topic but Urlacher shed new light on it. Good to see Alberto couldn't help the Pack get on the board. The Packers O-line really struggles against the Bears, there could be a few more holds called. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Keep your foot on the gas. Would love 2 knock GB out but would hate for the Giants to get in, they could have made this game meaningless. Come on Knox. -

Fank Omiyale sux. I think this game means a lot if the Bears win. I originally thought they should just try and stay healthy but I think a win in GB will add a confidence in the defense after the NE and Jet game. -
White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread

QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 09:11 PM) Do they focus only on defense? Because if they don't, Pierre might be there in a player coach (bunting, baserunning, etc.) I think it is like a football OTA. I think this is where Walker saw Rios take three swings and deemed him fixed. I like that so many guys are going. -
QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 01:07 PM) I'm pretty sure that was Hinrich? I think it is Deng as they (chgo radio) talk about it being a strong part of his game. Hinrich while a good defender is not tall enough or strong enough to guard the king.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) Players don't talk to each other? They might but I do not think it is as much as we are making it out to be. Jake Peavy wanted nothing to do with the White Sox and Ozzie Guillen until he spoke to Scoot Linebrink. If the White Sox were such a disaster why would Linebrink convince Peavy to come there. Thorton did the same thing with Putz.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 10:25 AM) I don't see how you could say that. This poll indicates quite clearly that there are quite a few players out there that would never want to play for an Ozzie led club. That fact that Ozzie is in the media and has been around for 7 years makes this poll skewed. Adam Dunn had never met or spoken to Ozzie Guillen before he signed with the White Sox. How could he then say if he wanted to play with them or not. Baseball is not the tight knit community that people think it is.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 07:14 PM) That's the same thing I wondered, because it does make a difference in this story. If Oney is talking about things that he saw, versus things that his dad told him, it changes things for me. I asked Oney on Twitter, and he claims all of the tweets are about things he observed himself. Don't get me wrong I do not think that Jenks had it coming and I think Oney is a douche. He is a fool and Guillen needs to address this. I wish Ozzie would come out and say something against Oney though and deal with because it makes Ozzie look more like a fool than anything else. Jenks also looks like fool here as if he did not have his issues Thorton and Putz would not have been overworked. I do not care about the on field failures, that is part of the game it has to do with the injuries and now exposed personnel issues that Fathom spoke of during the year that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I wish guys could just leave and be gone.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) What is shows is if you go to Ozzie with a personal situation he likes to discuss it over dinner with the rest of his family. If, for some reason, you want to jab Ozzie in the future, and by no means do I think what Jenks did was right, then you will be subject to Oney airing out all of your personal laundry. It really isn't good. How do you know that Guillen told Oney this? Oney and Jenks like to party. In 2005 at the video unveiling Oney was there with Jenks and Cotts. I find it more plausible that Jenks and Oney were drinking buddies moreso than Guillen sitting around airing the clubhouse news over dinner.

Teixeira: Pettitte Leaning Toward Retirement
Harry Chappas replied to shago's topic in The Diamond Club
The White Sox do not have 5 starters right now. No way they get rid of one. -
Have the White Sox lost out on a player they wanted to retain via free agency? Too me this is another in the line of Thomas, Swisher, Cabrerra, and Ordonez who were "allowed" to leave and then b****ed an moaned. After all of the soap operas in the Guillen tenure, they retain the free agents and get the players they want. It has scared off certain players but I think they are going with the media POV. If players that the Sox wanted back did not come back, then I think this would have been an issue. Konerko has been here plenty long, maybe a condition of his was that Jenks not come back....
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) Yeah, but Ozzie isnt the one taking the shots here, Oney is. Which looks like Ozzie is coming home and blabbing about his players issues, and in turn those family members are airing out the dirty laundry in a misguided attempt at defending Ozzie. All this does is make Ozzie look like a big mouth who cannot be trusted with any private issues, and it is even worse because Oney originally started this crusade last season. You do not know that Ozzie told these things to Oney. It is just as likely that Oney and Jenks partied together. For everyone that thinks Guillen will lose credabiltiy on this, I really do not think that managers and players are really that intimate in one anothers personal lives.

Anyone that thinks the Bears need to play their starters because they owe it to the Giants needs to have their head examined. The Giants could not help themselves last week against...........Green Bay. Tampa Bay on the other hand will lose at noon to the Saints and then it is not an issue. If the Giants beat Green Bay just last week, this isn't like week 4 or something like that, they would not need the Bears help. Sit Forte, Urlacher, Briggs, Peppers and Hester (on returns). Play max protect and blitz and throw in everything you can on defense to create an illusion that you have a better scheme than the Cover 2, and call it a day. -
QUOTE (quickman @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 09:16 AM) Oney behaving like this, sends a signal to the rest of the whitesox. Can't go to ozzie with your problems or when Oney is around you need to shut up, because Ozzie and his idiot sons can't keep there mouths shut. They will need to find someone else to talk to, which is ashame. A player should be able to go to his manager, as a leader, mentor and coach and share an issue that maybe affecting there play. That said, I am sure Bobby is not out of his problems and these will re-surfice once again fortunately not for the whitesox. I would guess that Oney talked with Jenks over drinks more than Jenks spoke to Ozzie. I really do not think that Ozzie comes home and talks to his family about Jenks personal life. Oney probably knew as much about the innerworkings of that team than Ozzie did while Oney was there.
-
Oney needs to shut up but he was part of the locker room prior to last season so he would have seen first hand everything that happened in there. This is another case of a player leaving the Sox and being ticked off because they have to go somewhere else. If playing for Guillen was so bad, why do all of the players that they want back keep coming back? Thome wanted to be back, Konerko, AJ, Mark, somehow Rios turned into a respectable player, Dye, there are plenty of guys that leave and then bash the organization because they were cut loose. I almost find it comical. Guillen stood by that fatass.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 10:04 AM) It was funny listening to Phil Simms talk about how the Bears haven't seen a pass rush like the Jets (hello Giants game), and then seeing the Bears line just man-handle the Jets D. I seriously do not think Phil Simms watches the game. He called a Sanchez pass that was ovthrown a perfect pass than he says Holmes slows up on a route when the ball was behind him. He is a disaster. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 11:10 PM) I reconciled this a couple of weeks ago. once they took away the asininity of him getting rid of people in favor of "his" guys and got real NFL assistants they started winning again. As long as this staff stays in tact and Lovie is not allowed to evaluate and pick talent, they will be fine. The officiating in that game was embarassingly bad. The hold on Olin, the DPI, the shot to Cutler's head and the screwed call at the half were in excusable. I hope they beat the s*** out of the Jets but I have a feeling it will be a let down. I am a fan of Maranelli. -
The Vikings PBP guy and morning guy on KFAN in Minny loved the moved for the Sox and thinks Crain will be the closer.

Kerry Wood signs 1 year, $1.5 million deal with Cubs
Harry Chappas replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) Supposedly the Yankees were prepaired to offer Wood $10 million over 2 years. The coverage on the radio yesterday was priceless. Jurko was trashing him pretty good as it being a riding off into the sunset and becoming an ambassador for the rest of his life. He is the new Ron Santo in my book. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 08:55 AM) Danks is almost in the same position as Greinke (two years left on deal), except he might be an even better fit in NY because of Pettite (if he stays) and Sabathia, but that would give them an overload of lefties, perhaps. Of course, for the White Sox to trade Danks and not get pitching back would be crazy. I think it would take a lot more than Danks and Viciedo...and Morel simply isn't viewed as a legit starting 3B who will have a 10-15 year MLB career (with 2-3 All-Star game appearances) by the majority of other MLB scouting departments. He's kind of like the equivalent of Michael Morse in the Garcia deal, with a bit more upside because of his stellar defense at one position but serious questions about his power. My point was the White Sox should try and use Danks to get the prospects to add to their own to get Greinke. There is no way they should move Danks.....unless they are getting guaranteed MLB pitching back like Greinke. The Yanks are really not in a position to be thinking L/R options right now.
-
Brewers, White Sox and Cardinals should all be in on this. The White Sox should move Danks to the Yanks for the prospects the Royals would like and then add Viciedo or Morel. A three way deal gets you around the NTC to a degree.
