  1. I am at work and can't watch on the internet. Can we get a little play by play of anything other than the berating of Bill Melton.
  2. Come on the guy is old and doing internet broadcasts give him a break. He is a good guy to have a drink with as well.
  3. Stan on the SCORE this morning and I thought I heard him say the new D man was going to help on the penalty kill...I was only half listening though
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 1, 2011 -> 08:53 AM) 'Melo better than Lebron? Really? Yes it was almost comical. The fact Melo makes no players better while LeBron's Cavs went from league best to one of the worst ever kind of answers that question. ESPN really is just a soap opera.
  5. I saw nothing on this game but it seems to be a moral victory coming back from 6-1. Last year's squad would have lost 6-2.
  6. I have not seen one Sox player defend Jenks. It has been pointed out often that the Sox were covering for Jenks often and Guillen backed him 100% to a fault. Maybe he cleans up his act maybe he doesn't but he really has no room to criticize the Sox they gave him plenty of opportunities and he got $12M now STFU.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) Far NW and SW sides tend to be heavily populated by cops and firefigthers and paramedics, who all endorsed Chico because Chico looked like the candidate least likely to do anything about pensions. SE side, I have no idea why that was so heavily Chico. Hegewisch and the SE side is heavy city worker as well. According to that map Rahm won Mt. Greenwood.
  8. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) Here's a new holy grail for you: Its from the 1930's. I think I've seen it at Grandstand. I bought that hat in 2005 and wore it through the end of hte season. At the Boston playoff game many people thought it was a Red Sox hat. After the World Series I went out and bought every hat I could get I have almost the same collection. The guy at Grandstand told me that the White Sox never actually wore that hat that it was more of a logo used in the 30's. Still a great hat as well as the 20's road hat.
  9. Carlos Quentin looks pretty fit.
  10. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) The NBA should contract any and all teams in non-major markets. The inmates have spoken and won. This is where the players are kind of f***ing themselves though as the owners will be forced into hard cap.
  11. An Alex Rios with an attitude sounds good to me.
  12. He thinks Kenny is still looking to get a piece...I was assuming he meant a piece for the baseball team...a #5 guy
  13. 60 degrees today in Chicago and the Chuckmeister is reporting from AZ where the pitchers and catchers have reported. f*** ya.
  14. Any team that gives him 10yr/$30M will regret it after the first three years of the deal. There are questions of age, heath and PED's here. He would have to go to an AL team to DH at the end of the deal.
  15. I understand the fan thing and what not but Karl Ravech was on Mike and Mike this morning and they were talking about the Cardinals and The NL Central. He thought the Cardinals had the best team but went on about the following; The cubs should be better and give them more compition talked about Pena and Garza, the Reds will be right there and the Astros you never know about.......ok, the Brewers on paper are the deepest team in that division......yet he felt the need to talk about the cub more than any other team in that division.
  16. Tim K was on the radio this morning and he said that the Cardinals have been saving and planning for this day and there is no way Pujols leaves.
  17. said on the radio this morning that the move leaves he Hawks with $275K
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) Let's put it this way....do you think there is a significantly higher %age of financially inept people no than there was in 1985, 1970, 1955, or 1940? If so, well, I'd be surprised actually, with the proliferation of stock ownership, for example, people have simply had to deal with those issues much more often. So I'd actually disagree with that. If people haven't gotten worse at managing their money than they were 15, 30, 50 years ago, then it's worth asking if something else changed...like say, regulations and banks willingness to lend to people with no credit check. 15,30, 50 years ago people would put their money in a bank and get 3% interest and watch that grow, live a nice life and get a pension from the non-public or public sector. They would live to their menas and banks would make certain that risk was low when giving away money. People are lazy now and use credit to extend what they couldn't get 25 years ago. A bank has no problem charging you 30% interest on a credit card if you miss one payment. Many, many people are ignorant to these things and simply pay their minimum balance and go about to get more credit which continues to mount. Banks don't really care if you default as they are getting interst at a higher rate then they are paying to make up for the defaults. The housing market is just a bigger plan of this. I used to drive around the suburbs of Chicago and wonder where the wealth for the $400-$600K homes came from. I found out a few years later. People also will just walk away from their home as they have no equity or do not realize the impact of walking away. Oh wait, a bank will give you the money again so just walk away. Fiscal responsability is not as great as it was 20 years ago and nowhere near what it was 40 years ago.
  19. I follow baseball, I really do. I have never heard of Neil Walker. There seemed to be a bit of a bias toward young NL central players on that list.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) I have the 27 game plan and get the bobbleheads, he can have my Pierre. Right now its in the box holding up a cabinet door I am repairing. He may get it then. I get boxes of stuff all throughout the year. Last year I got some fleece thing that I have no clue what it even is.
  21. Listening to talk radio on the way home the interesting thing is that if Rahm does not get the 50% on the first pass through it could get interesting as the unions are all backing Chico.
  22. Harry Chappas replied to Kyyle23's topic in SLaM
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 07:50 AM) I thought last night was freaking hilarious. The lines Phil Dunphy, or should I say Clive Bixby, was dropping at the bar were something else. The best line was at the resturant where they are talking about being at dinner at 6:30 and Phil says, "this place is on fire" and it was all old folks. Claire and Phil make that show. The storylines for Cam and Mitchell are usually pretty bad.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 12:40 PM) I know the Angels just traded for Vernon Wells, but why would they make that trade for a FA to be who they might not re-sign? They only make that trade if they know they have what it takes to sign him as will any team that gets involved this year. They trade for the right to deal with him exclusively. The Rays are not trading for him or the Twins but teh Yanks, Angels and possibly Red Sox would. I still do not think the cubs have the money to do it.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) Anyone get their Juan Pierre Bobblehead in the mail? Thanks for backing up my AJP and Jake Peavy one with the likeness of probably my least favorite player. Yep. Funny tidbit. I have a friend that has four tickets in the 27 game plan and collects bobbleheads and never gets these in that plan. I have no interest in Bobbleheads so they sit in a box in a closet.
  25. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) well he would still be a FA at the end of the year, unless they do a trade contingent on a 48 hour window for an extension. I do agree with you that it's curious people keep mentioning the Cubs with Pujols and completely ignoring that the team is having some cash flow problems at the moment, even with some contracts expiring, and again, if he leaves it will be for money, so it's not like the Cubs are going to get some sort of discount with him. That is exactly what has to happen. The Cardinals can only get the value for him if he signs an extension. Without the extension you will get he value of two draft picks for him. If the Yanks are not playing well I wonder they would move Tex and some youth for him.
