  1. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) The decision to leave him in is absolutly intolerable. The game is over, Oz needed to make a managerial call and pull him. His decisions this season; base running, line-ups, bunt calls, Thome, ETC should cost him if we continue to fall out. It's so frustrating seeing these bonehead moves day-in-day-out. Exactly after they came out they should have pulled him.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) Great...absolutely no reason for him to be pitching tonight, and an injury happens. when did he last pitch? He could hurt any time and need to get an easy inning for his psyche.....not the result we wanted
  3. also I like Putz here and Jenks for the 9th these guys need some what should be easy innings to get their groove back
  4. Pull him regardless.....why mess around....even if he is ok.....did he swallow his gum ala Floyd
  5. Fathom enjoy watching now as kids s*** less but take up more time and Soxtalk is the best way to see how a game goes. Wasn't the 2004 game the jose Panigua flipping off Sox fans game....hitting a guy could lead to this type I think the Sox played very well in the series. The Sox are 0-5 in one run games since the O's series I believe. Jeez Jones with a bad route there.....walked into a HBP
  6. Why did Cooper not have Thorton learn other pitches and take speed off his fastball. People need to realize some guys thrive under Cooper and some thrive in the NL. Also the Dewayne Wise thing was all Guillen as well. I get the feeling his input will hold no weight going forward.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) Mauer, M-Cab and Ichiro. Those are the three guys you just know are going to kick Sox ass everytime they come to the plate. add Inge and Mike Sweeney to that list as well. They could come out of retirement and go 3-4. The three guys you mentioned are actually good.
  8. Not watching the game but following through Soxtalk....Cowley was on the SCORE recently and was talking about AJ having to think about this season and the Dye season last year where the Sox will not offer arb and no other team a is going to take a chance on him. I think the Sox oughta really platoon him and Castro this year and see how it goes. It could make AJ better and Castro is no worse than AJ and could be better. AJ knows a steep pay cut is in order and is playing like it. He should be batting ninth.
  9. Jones is go for a nice 0-4 wiht 2 K's and a couple of groundouts. I think it is safe assume that after this season if Guillen is still around that he will not be afforded any player personnel decisions. He makes Lovie look like Jerry Vanisi.
  10. Go check Freddy's day/night splits. I believe they are the complete opposite of Jenks. I do not think it has anything to do with partying but more that for whatever reason the hitter picks a pitch up better. No, the manager can not manage to this but he can take it into consideration.
  11. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 10:47 AM) Do all you can to negate that slider from Liriano that Konerko and Quentin just wave at He is left handed. There will be no lefties in there.
  12. All this teams needs is Jenks to be healthy....will it happen, I don't know but the last fifteen games has shown as that if Jenks is not doing his job the rest of the pen sucks. This team needs Jenks to save 85% of the opportunities he is given which is what he has done this year. I do not give a s*** about WHIP, ERA, BAA, FIP or the rest of the stupid stats that say Jenks blows. The fact is he needs to be the closer or as we have seen there is no chance of winning. Thorton for three innings in a tied game fine. While winning that is just stupid. DL'ing Threeets to get Sale up was bad idea in my mind. I am assuming that the Threets DL was not a real injury. Threets was doing the job just fine and had earned to be put in stressful situations.
  13. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:19 PM) interesting observation... nice homework assignment, his numbers with an 0-1 count
  14. winning is all the payback they need drill someone in April or in September this team needs a win not a macho showing
  15. Twins just do not give away at-bats, the Sox on the other hand give away at-bats. Twins just have at-bats that are productive and it leads to good things happening.
  16. We need a little Johnny Dickshot tonight...that is what we need....this has nothing to do with Danks either...
  17. If I was an NL GM ia would invest everything in pitching and build an enormous park...see Padres, San Diego
  18. regression to the mean if your number five hitter wheather Quentin or kotsay is going to hit below .240 then Rios and Konerko need to stay above .300
  19. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) If you go to the game, be on the look out for roaming Big Ten Icon mascots. You'll know when you see them. The real Purdue mascot will have the sledge hammer.....they will not let me bring mine into the park.
  20. The thing that is hurting the cubs is that the resale is not what it used to be so all of those brokers that bought season tickets are being killed. The cubs also scalp their own tickets often. There are plenty of empty seats out there.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 11:36 AM) I still can't believe I lost that case. Nothing but a bout of crabs and regret after that weekend. you regret nothing.
  22. On paper the Sox should walk away with this one rather easily.......I said the same thing on Friday........ The offense is back to killing this team with the help of giving outs away.
  23. I have been away most of the weekend but my feeling was that this series would not be good. The O's on paper are decent. Millwood and Guthrie can win games and their line-up always gives the Sox fits. My main concern is that he Sox turn it around at home but they have to play better on the road. The negativity in general comes from the fact that fans tasted the World Series and a nice .500 record doesn't do it anymore.
  24. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 09:14 AM) LOL GTFO!! Did Ozzie really say this? Yes this was back in Sean Tracy days with Vicente Padilla and the Rangers head hunting for the Sox. Guillen was 100% correct as far as I could tell.
