  1. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 08:23 PM) Looking at stats, the account of this AB, and from what I've read via scouting reports and such... yeah, I'd say it's a safe assumption that he has a tendency to look for the walk instead of hitting the ball. Which is fine if he draws the walks. If he is up there looking at strike three all of the time there is a problem. There is nothing wrong with going up to bat looking for a walk and then swinging late in the count. Bobby Abreu and rickey henderson made careers out of it. With his speed that is exactly what he should do.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) If Contreras puts up two more real good starts and we are still 5-7 games back, it is the time to trade him. You might actually be able to get something good for him to if he is dominant. The Quentin timeline will also be better set by than. If Pods continues the work he has done over this time, he, Jose, Dye and Dotel could really get a haul.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 01:27 PM) They could always do one of those day games at Wrigley night games at the Cell type deals. NYY/NYM did it a few years back and ESPN covered it for 4 days non-stop That was my point.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) I don't have a problem with him playing if Dye is out, after all, Quentin is hurt and we need to play who's available. But not batting 5th. Wise should never be hitting higher than 7th. Even in the NL. There is a problem. He is not good at any aspect of baseball. Somebody, anyone in the top 10 prospect list could do what he does and be younger and have a ceiling of some nature. He should not be on this team batting 1st, 5th or 9th...ever. What would Jordan Danks do any worse?????? I vote for Kroeger, Ward or Restovich I do not care what their numbers currently are, they would outperform Wise. I do not think people understand how bad Wise is currently playing. The guy is batting .138 for god's sake, try and comprehend that......
  5. Bump back the 26th to a night game and play at 11 in the morning at Wrigley. Red Line doubleheader, Ligue style.
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 01:13 AM) At least 1 Chicago team has sense enough to cut bait! Did you demand the firing of Vaughn Joshua a few years back?
  7. Nobody could fail as badly as D'Wayne Wise. Anybody that was brought up could do exactly what he does. There is no debate. Wise has done nothing all season and therefore anyone could do the same. A younger player may actually succeed a little, who knows. The credability of the KW/OG is taking a hit on this one he really adds nothing to this team.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) Nice win started by 3 of the young guys in the 9th. Brian Anderson is quietly becoming an option again in my book. He had a nice series. For a big sereis the youger guys semed to have better AB's than some of the vets. While the results don't prove it, they did just fine. The fact Thorton only pitched in the blow out tells me all I need to know about Guillen's handling of the pen. Maybe Thorton is the peice of a blockbuster trade and they do not want to risk anything with him?????? I have no problem moving Jenks although I would have liked to have seen him pitch in a blowout as he has not thrown in about a week and really hasn't thrown often in the last two or three weeks. Nice win and the Sox outplayed the Tigers. They really should have won all five.
  9. One more runner and bring in Thorton. You know early if Jenks has it.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 05:52 PM) Is Jenks available? He was warming up last night if they tied it in the 9th he was coming in.. The fact Thorton was in neither of the last inning loses in this series and if he does not pitch today shows that Guillen is so preoccupied with the leftie/rightie s*** that it is insane. Dye better not be in right for the 9th. Outside of Buerhle , who was left in the game too long, the pitching has done its job in this series and outpitched Detroit in every game...even last night. Guillen needs to use this pen more. Dotel is gone after this year, burn him out.
  11. With Thorton and Jenks in the pen, no reason to leave Floyd in there. Ramon Santiago give me a f***ing break, how do s*** players kill this team. Everett and Rayburn last night and Santiago today. God this offense sucks....the Sox seroiusly could have won all five of these.
  12. Lyon, Sardines and Rayburn have been the difference in this series.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 05:39 PM) If only Danks can get going now... He looked really good yesterday. Dye and AJ are painful to watch right now.
  14. QUOTE (rudylaw @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 04:13 PM) BA has swung the bat a little better the past few games. It would be nice to see him getting on base a little more. Inge robbed him a couple of times and the ball he hit last night was crushed.
  15. Keep giving those outs away against good pitchers. Nice job Oz.
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 04:10 PM) Beckham just missed that. WOW. Not to sound like Hawk but Beckham seems to have an idea at the plate and hits the ball hard.
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) I hate my little brother. We get Chex Mix because we like everything that's in it. He opens it, eats the pretzels, and leaves it. If I wanted to eat just Chex, I'd get a box and let it sit out. beat the little f***ers ass....I like the Chex but not the pretzels....give them to Mikie he'll eat anything.
  18. Thome and Konerko need to hit ahead of Dye. Thome needs to play first if Konerko is out in the NL parks. Alright Gavin, there is your run.
  19. Floyd and Danks have looked great recently. It really is sad the offense is so bad.
  20. Sox should get Reed Johnson he just fouled out to first with a runner on third, he'd fit right in. How'd Keppinger end up with Houston?
  21. Wow is this line-up bad. Jackson's ERA is sick.....going to be a long day.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) Good stuff by Gavin. If we lose today, do you all think we're out of it with no hope of making playoffs? If Quentin is done for more than a couple of weeks, yes.
  23. Leyland with the Sunday line-up. Rayburn is hitting .224 yet he has had the biggest Ab's in the series.
  24. I find it amazing that the Astros can not hit cub pitching.
