Ramirez has no business playing short any longer. The defense is killing this team right now. -

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) Why bench Thome when he was finally starting to hit the ball. I could understand if a lefty was on the mound, but this game has a bad start already, and Hochevar has been pitching well lately. That move seems to have hurt already. -
I have been overly negative but he had a nice series and should be playing ahead of Anderson at this point....I can't believe I typed that.

I thought we'd see Wise today after the nice game yesterday. I also thought Fields would be a good guy for Wells as the fastball is meh.
-
Or Kuroda and his ERA of 6.....oh wait sorry wrong premise.

QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 11:24 AM) I thought it was modeled after Yankee Stadium? Since JR was from New York.... I thought it was Royal Stadium..... I also thought the Cubano thing was for international play and that he was a SS for the Cuban league. He was brought in to play CF by the Sox not short with the idea of extending OC. I think he is back in CF soon.

LSU (Jared Mitchell) playing now on ESPN.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 07:07 AM) Most outstanding player of the College World Series, nuff said. But he looks to take too many walks which with his speed is bulls***. He needs to over swing as the ball flies out of the cell for the 25 hot games in which they play there. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 02:48 AM) According to some internet news outlets and the Cleveland Plain Dealer: Michael Jackson may have left the rights to the 200 Beatles songs that he owned; to Paul McCartney, in his will. That would be a classy move and nice F U to Yoko.

The attendance while bad was a perfect storm. A lot of casual fans that look at the Dodger series as intriguing also had nice road options as Milwaukee, Cincinnati and Chicago in the last couple of weeks as well as the cub series. Real bad decision to charge what they did. Ozeroo is right on with his Carrasco comments. He could be the most valuable guy out there right now in the trade market.

Today was yet another game where a weak bench was the downfall of this team.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) I was apparently in a coma when DeRosa had a HOF career or won a world series with the Cubs, the hack fans are treating him like he's Griffey coming back to Seattle. Oh well, it's funny because it's a gigantic FU to Hendry cubs version of Rowand Also the Pedro talk is in regard to Harden, I think there is something there and he is not long for staying in the rotation.

QUOTE (Adele_H @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) Ramirez footwork and attitude leave much to be desired so far thi season....... have his haters looked what the hotdog Orlando Cabrera been doing defensively lately? Not only as he not able to make near the spectacular plays Alexei does, he makes just as many bone-headed mishaps for Oakland. Conclusion: Ramirez is the SS of the future and the decision not to bring OCab was a good one. I think he and Beckham will switch positions next year.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) Maggs is getting benched. He hasn't hit for power and he's in the same boat Frank Thomas was in with the Blue Jays last year. A huge option becomes vested if he gets enought plate appearances. Personally, I think its good for the Sox. Maggs would eventually start mashing. At the end ofhe day, which is near. letting Maggs go for Dye was another of the KW moves that were masterful. Either he is really lucky or just good. Would Dye and Dotel for Dickerson be a good move?

QUOTE (hawkubes @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 09:11 AM) This thread is ridiculous. It's one bad outing. The only reason this team has been able to stay afloat is the outstanding bullpen, and Scott Linebrink has been a huge part of it. I can't believe how quickly everybody turns on a player. This was a tough loss and I'm as pissed off about it as anyone, but I have no doubt Linebrink will bounce back and I sure as hell don't want him sent down (which will never happen but has been suggested) or traded away for cents on the dollar. Not one bad outing, 5 straight. After the Colon Sunday game against the Indians which Wes Whisler ended any hope of winning after the Ramirez home run, Linebrink has lost two games, allowed inherited runners to score or gave up a run to blow two shut outs and that debacle yesterday. Wednesday Jake Fox took him to the ivy and Anderson saved that game. The Friday Brewer game was also Dotel and Carrasco. Up until yesterday Thorton had not pitched in any of the games I have alluded to other than to clean up Linebrink's mess.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 09:27 AM) I'm looking forward to seeing the complaints about the lineup tonight. Really nothing Ozzie can do. Sure there is, move Wise and bring up a player with potential whether it is Kroger, Cook or Danks, I do not care. They should have signed David Delluici if they want a s***ty veteran. Actually Nix should play right over Wise. -
Am I the only one that looks at baseball like football currently. The Yankess should have been swept at home by the Nats becasue they couldn't hit. I am not sure whether to be buyers or sellers but other then the aforementioned Nats, O's, and Padres, every team has a shot at winning it all. I am not trading Jose to save money as they did with Durham.
-
Thorton needs to get it down or the game will be over.
-
Sadly this puts the cubs back on the map as a team that can come back late in games. They get the Indians now who are terrible.

QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) If we are going to compete this year we need another right coming out of the pen... Linebrink has seemingly forgot how to pitch! Wow did Guillen get afraid of being praised? Sadly Dotel and now Carassco are now better options. I pointed out yesterday that Linebrink is the fourth best pitching coming out of the pen. He may seriously be the sixth.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 03:27 PM) Where the hell is Thornoton? That has been the question for the last two weeks.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) Glad a couple of my boys are having games....Getzy/Becks/Floyd. Getzy is offsetting the good with the bad.
-
Linebrink unable to put anyone away this almost got him in trouble yesterday as well.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) I like saving him for the higher leverage situations. Which would not exist if Thorton started the inning.
-
Linebrink lost two games last week and blew two shut out opportunites in the last three games. I am losing faith in him.
