Rays @ White Sox 7:11pm CSN+ - The Passion of The Carlos
Harry Chappas replied to WSoxMatt's topic in 2009 Season in Review
The Sox will swing within two pirtches the entire game and the infield defense will be unable to catch a ball that is not hit directly at them. The Sox will not score after the 6th inning. The Rays will steal every single time a man gets on. Let's hope all of this will allow the Sox to garner up a win. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 01:47 PM) Your probably right, but if the Rays were serious that would be a potentially smart move to make them the world series favorites for these next two years. Losing Price would hurt though. If the Rays trade Price for Halladay their GM really f'd up by trading Jackson. I still am not sure why they made that trade.

What do Alphonso Soriano and Brian Campbell have in common?

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 05:03 PM) I understand we are kind of stuck with him there for the rest of this year, but unless some sort of drastic change occurs, I don't think we can keep Gordon Beckham at 3rd base after 2009. His bat isn't as valuable over there, and his fielding looks awful. I understand he's never played there before this year and is trying to learn at the major league level, but he has very poor reaction times on hard hit balls to him, and I'm not sure if that is something you can teach. They really need to make a decision on this sooner rather than later. I believe it is a matter of time before he starts to take this into the field. The play in the 9th inning Saturday was really bad. I like his bat but I think he needs to go to second. There is a log jam of infielders (Beckham, Ramirez, Nix, Getz and Fields) that should create trade market interest. The Sox need to decide which way to go as none of them are experienced enough to come off the bench on a regular basis.

Are you related to the guy theat discovered the bay which opened the trade route to the great lakes and thus began the process by which the city of Chicago became the metropolis it currently is?

SOX v. Minnesota 7/10/09 - 7:10 CSN

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 11:28 AM) Carlos Gomez has a .250 OPS against us this year so hopefully that was just a one year thing. You can throw out every stat there is when the Sox are playing a team. Gomez and Punto will do more damage than Moreanau and Mauer in this series. I am not drunk or joking I seriously believe this. -

I thought Boozer was like 32 years old. He is 27. Wow did Cleveland screw up. -
QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) Twins swept by the Yanks. Sun still rises in the East. ho hum. Don't worry Carlos Gomez will have a huge weekend.

The other thing in my mind is that if this team is going to stay in the race, can Beckham be at third and Ramirez at short. If Jake Fox is a bad 3B, what is Gordon Beckham. I think Ramirez needs to go to center, Beckham short and Fields or Nix at third. -

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) This team has got to figure out how to come back when they are down a few runs to win some games. Good teams can come back, we have only 2 times this year were we have won when down after the 6th. Thats a pretty telling mark that needs to be reversed in the 2nd half. I think it goes back to advanced scouting and knowing what a guy throws. -

Ramirez and Beckham almost with as bad of games as DJ and Richard as the four of them did nothing positive. -

Wise and Beckham had bad at-bats you need to make a guy who can't throw strikes, throw strikes. -

I like our chances not sure why, I just do. Ozzie was going to hit Wise for Nix and did the right thing by putting the better outfielder out there ahead of time. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 04:28 PM) Just an absolutely idiotic decision coming off of the start in KC where he ran out of gas. We treat him like he's a 20 year veteran with a rubber arm, when really his most success is pitching like a power lefty. Come on he threw 70 pitches if that last Sunday. He needed to have a better effort today and he sucked. 6 runs over 5 innings would've given reason to complain about hte short rest. He has gotten seemingly worse every time out. I like Danks going on extended rest. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 04:25 PM) We started off the year struggling vs starting pitching but hitting the bullpen hard. It's completely changed since mid-May. They can hit s***ty relievers. It is the good bullpen guys that shut them down. Aren't they 2-30 or something when trailing after 6? -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 04:22 PM) Never would have thought the Indians bullpen could shut us down the way this game was going. What is the Sox record when trailing after 6 innings. That tells you all you need to know about the Sox ability to hit bullpen pitching. -

Thorton is throwing well. If Pena comes in so be it...Wood is pretty good except against the cub. Ramirez needed to have a better game but he had a nice game yesterday. -

QUOTE (hogan873 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 04:11 PM) If we're still down or tied in the ninth, who pitches? Do we trust Linebrink? He threw two yesterday so no. If we are losing it will be Pena if we are winning or tied it will be Jenks. -
