Peavy throwing from the mound
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 10:06 AM) Is that your prediction or did you hear something? Nothing will be known for sure until after three rehab starts.

Peavy throwing from the mound
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 09:33 AM) Bring up Hudson. I'd rather take my chance with him than Torres, and Carrasco needs to be around the bullpen in case Hudson falls flat. Torres looked servicable against Tampa and the first start jitters should be gone. Hudson will have all of this stuff to work through. I'd also like to see if Torres does ok for him to stay up until Peavy is ready and then stay with the team through September. The starters could use that extra day I would think which they will not be getting if they skip the number 5 spot.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 09:39 AM) Refresh my memory. Win the first two of the series rather easily then have the starter removed from the game by 1:30.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 09:35 AM) Everything is pointing to a win which means we'll probably lose. See Cleveland and Minnesota Thursday afternoon home affairs.

ESPN feed
Get a second job or whatever it takes to get the MLB network. It will render ESPN useless for baseball fans. I just wish they had better day time programming. Save the WS highligtes and programming for the off season.

The thing that will make Beckham great or Mike Caruso is his baseball I.Q. Does he have the knowledge and fortitude to support his baseball talent when the league adjusts or he goes in a slump. If the answer is yes well then the Sox have something between Carney Lansford and Robin Yount If the answer is no, the Sox have something between Greg Norton and Carney Lansford

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 07:54 AM) anyone remember what happened the last time these two faced each other? Ya Danks gave up a three spot in the first which is the same thing he did to the Dodgers which cost us a sweep. Thanks for bringing it up.

Angels @ Sox, 7:11 PM
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 09:33 PM) ? I've never understood how someone can build a team that can win 100 games during the regular season, but somehow they aren't built to win 3 of 5 or 4 of 7 in a playoff series. Please explain. Watch the cubs. Built to feast on s*** pitching....s*** pitching is gone by the playoffs...... and good enough pitching ot beat s*** hitting teams.......s*** hitting teams do not really make the playoofs and if they do their pitching and defense is lights out.

Angels @ Sox, 7:11 PM
Floyd should have already had a complete game shut out except for the errors. Good to see the middle of the order do something.
-
Angels @ Sox, 7:11 PM
I really want to think this team can win and on paper they should but they are so fundamentally bad at just about every defensive position that they need to score much more then they currently are. Floyd is going to get screwed yet again.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 02:31 PM) Hmm. Wtf. Nix is a nice sub and all but he needs to get back to bench duties. Day game tomorrow will most likely get Wise and Ramirez back out there. They have not missed Alexi. Kotsay has not been seen for a few games either.

Reduced Ticket Prices for Angels Series
QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 02:04 PM) Although the Buehrle theme gave the team an excuse to lower ticket prices (I buy into that), your theory assumes that the lower ticket prices are the only reason for the increased attendance. I'm not convinced that's the case. One, at least some fans probably did "fall for" the Buehrle theme. Two, there could be other factors at play -- i.e. it's August and the team is right in contention; coming off a good series against NY; excitement about the Peavy trade; excitement about a certain ROY candidate; etc. In other words, in going from the "control" to the "experimental" group, the price isn't the only factor that has changed. Check out a the attendance on half priced Monday. I don't get it as the cost of goods inside the park does not change.

We love you Gordon, oh yes we do
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 09:45 AM) I'm wondering when opposing managers try coming up with 'the Beckham rules' like they tried to do against Jordan in the NBA. Curtis Granderson just walked out of this thread

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
I posted in the game thread but I will state here that Pods got a great pitch to hit because Beckham was on deck. The $40M plus payroll of Jose, Dye, Konekro, and Thome can join in whenever they'd like. Great job by the pen...

Angels @ Sox, 7:11 pm
QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 10:14 PM) Where has he been? cubs road trip Gordon Beckham won that game.......................... How you ask????????? By being the bad muther f***er that was going to walk them off thus Pods got himself a cookie and unlike the 3-4-5 hitters crushed it It is amazing what happens when there are not three automatic outs in the game.....s*** there ain't an easy out no more.
-
Angels @ Sox, 7:11 pm
The middle three right now are painful to watch hit. They get the occasional homer but then have simply woeful at-bats. Konerko is not really that bad but it seems Dye gets the occasional homer and Thome the occasional walk. One good game a week is not what they all are all making over $10M to do. I'd like a Derek Lee type roll for about 10 games.
-
Angels @ Sox, 7:11 pm
If Dye, Konerko and Thome get their s*** together this team walks away with this division.

What would it take to get Carl Crawford
The Peavy deal allows them to move Danks or Floyd and only need to find a number 4 in the rotation........

Peavy throwing from the mound
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 11:23 AM) Really? Because this is a lot faster of a timetable then the Padres ever had him on. If this is true, Peavy is going to be here sooner than a lot of us expected. The Padres were not going to have him pitch this year as there was no need for it. He was going to be traded in the off season and they did not wnat to risk his value dropping. He said he wanted to be back by the end of August with them and they said no.
