  1. Why is Seattle selling??? Hope they got something good.
  2. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 10:15 AM) Besides Big Papi, there was this dead pull hitter named Williams who seemed to do ok there. Also another lefty with a funny name. I think I've heard Hawk mention him before. Catfish or Sudden Sam McDowell......he has kind of gotten away from Sam.
  3. There has to be someone more talented in this organization for what I am charged for season tickets.
  4. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) lol... at Cowley's twitter... "Swish is probably digging himself so much right now he doesn't know what to do. Maybe he could put more gel in his faux hawk." He is the starting RF on the best team in baseball....while the Sox are trying to replace him with Pods, Wise and Kotsay...that is a nice f*** you to the White Sox if I have ever seen one and on top of that may have taking what little heart the Sox had left out of them.
  5. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) honestly... its been a long time since the Sox have had a stretch hurt like this one. We are who we thought we were. The Texas / Toronto games were worse as there was no pitching and Floyd and Danks were getting pounded. Mov
  6. Put Carrasco in for the 10th to end it. These dips***s have no chance to hit.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:34 PM) Here comes K number 4... good call.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) So did Jenks lose his closer spot? The bullpen in my mind is not the issue and has never been it goe to the guys making 8 figures a year that can not hit. Jenks probably has some mystery ailment. If this game is lost it is on the hitting as always.
  9. Stone was very critical of the fastball to Damon that was hit before it was even thrown. It is amazing how good he is. This offense is as bad as ever except Beckham is there to bail thme out. Truly pathetic.
  10. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 02:25 PM) The Astros just love to have starting pitchers who were good in 1999. Russ Ortiz is pitching batting practice today. Maybe we should deal Bartolo to them. cubs hit s*** pitching and are shut down by average and above pitchers.
  11. Isn't the bigger question why are the Reds buyers?
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 07:50 AM) There even used to be some major league clubs that did something like that. Not sure if any of them still do. Sox do it but you need to contribute a hearty sum to White Sox Charities.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 12:10 AM) Pujols just won the game in the bottom of the 15th. Cards came back twice, once in bottom of 9th and then 11th... The best the Cubs could hope for at the end of 4 at home with Astros while Cards had 4 at home with the Dodgers is to push in the standings I thought they were in LA...still impressive.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 12:10 AM) Pujols just won the game in the bottom of the 15th. Cards came back twice, once in bottom of 9th and then 11th... The best the Cubs could hope for at the end of 4 at home with Astros while Cards had 4 at home with the Dodgers is to push in the standings LaRussa and Duncan are so underrated in what they get out of their players. Cooper is turning into this as well. The Cardinals are always a threat and I get the feeling they may make another move by the end of the deadline. For the NL the cubs schedule gets harder from here on out.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:54 PM) we'd be getting 2 1st rounders back (ideally). Isn't Sherill in his early 30's his performanace may decrease before he reaches free agency..
  16. Why Konerko is Dh'ing and Quentin wasn't on turf is beyond me. Actually Thome did not play any of the three games and they somehow felt Quentin should still have been playing on the turf...
  17. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 02:49 PM) Gotta disagree, the Cubs have the best starting pitching depth in the NLC. They don't have a true ace but their 1-5 when healthy is very serviceable and is really what has carried them this year with their lack of hitting. The Cards have two very good SP, mediocre 3&4's and no #5. However the best 1-2 now belongs to Philly (Lee, Hamels). Z is Z Lilly, Dempster and haren are no longer sure thingsthe rest of the way Wells, Hart, etc. I am not sold on Carpenter, Wainwright and Pinerio are better right now than anythign the cub are putting out there except maybe Zambrano. Lohse could be rightthere but with his health I will put him in the Lilliy, Dempster group. Duncan and LaRussa are as good as they get.....Pinella seems to be happy getting paid.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) I'll be honest, the few times I've done that, it's been very relaxing. If they win, GREAT! I usually DVR the game then to watch what happened. If they lose, you're not as caught up in all the little things that happened during the game that lead to the result. I do this often with the cubs and Twins games. Instead of DVR though I read the Soxtalk game thread last night's was quite the read.
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) does it make it easier when you check the final score? if so, i might have to join you. yes because losing games on broken bats and D'wayne Wise ending the game as the tying run are never good to witness as well as Pods missing flyballs and Alexi Casilla and Carlos Gomez getting hits.
  20. Fields, Wise and Anderson for Kotsay, and Pie.......don't seem like good basball moves to me.
  21. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 01:38 PM) Mike Hampton = BAD I pointed out that any team in the NL Central except maybe St. Louis would have Colon as a 3 or a 4 at worst. Seems some teams just do not care to win.
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 01:37 PM) Francisco Liriano might miss his start tonight because of swelling in his left forearm per Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Crap they have seen Liriano before so I thought the Sox may have a shot.....
  23. What happened to Jimmy Gobble? He wore it one game but seemed fine...I could be mistaken though.
  24. If Halladay goes to the Dodgers, the best two teams in baseball are now in the NL. If Myers and Lidge come back healthy and pitch close to last year the Phils are going ot be tough.
