QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 08:41 AM) Would anyone have interest in this guy?? Another "Coop will fix em" Jonathan Sanchez's Trade Value Dropping By Nat Boyle [June 16 at 9:54pm CST] Brian Sabean once said he couldn't imagine trading Jonathan Sanchez. Now he may not be able to. Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News says the lefty flamethrower's stock has declined sharply. Baggarly writes: "Sanchez pitches today against the Angels having won just once over his past nine starts. The Giants are 2-7 over that span. In the process, Sanchez's trade value has declined sharply, according to scouts who have been following the team. Sanchez has struck out 57 in 57 2/3 innings, but scouts have mentioned an all-around drop in the quality of his stuff while noting that his control issues have gotten worse." Baggarly says the Indians reported interest "has cooled" and that teams view Sanchez as more of a bullpen arm. Baggarly adds, "While the Giants have not acknowledged that they are shopping Sanchez, league sources said the 26-year-old left-hander has been an active name as the club seeks a power bat for the middle of the lineup. A Giants source said the team was not close to making any deals. The club has talked to the Texas Rangers about third baseman Hank Blalock, but he isn't considered an ideal fit." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Trade him for Fields.

White Sox purchase this guy...
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 07:23 AM) Our first undrafted FA, huh? Always fun to see how those work out. C.J. Retherford says hi.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) Alexei saved by Paul's beautiful hands. He is as lackasdasical as Valentin out there. Kokerko and Lee are the best in the bigs at that.

QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 03:53 PM) Bradley is just not good right now. He's accounted for 40% of their hits today.

Gameday had him mid-nineties 96 on strike one is that right?

Sox @ Cubs 1:20 WGN
I am amazed at what Pods is doing right now. Ramirez with the nice homer and then a terrible day after that. Just got out of a meeting and read the game thread, thanks for the good work folks. If Jenks lets more than two guys on, they need to go to Thorton. Thorton needs to be used in bigger situations. Linebrink is the fourth best option out of the pen right now.....assuming Dotel is only suffering from a dead arm.

I know I sound like a broken record but if they let Dumpster hang himself he will.
-
Sox @ Cubs 1:20 WGN
Need to keep doing what got Dumpster in trouble in the playoffs. If you make him pitch he crumbles, same with Marmol.
-
Sox @ Cubs 1:20 WGN
Need to make Dumpster work. Please don't get picked off or thrown out there is a two run lead play it safe.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) Good thing they're not playoff games and are prospects get to have learning curves. OH, look what just happened! I din't say it was a bad thing it is just that there is additional pressure whether guys want to say it or not. Odd things happen in these games. The Beckham coming out party was a jab at this site more than him.
-
Sox @ Cubs 1:20 WGN
So much for the Gordon Beckham coming out party....I'll leave it at that. Like I said whether they want to say it or not, these games have a playoff like intensity to them.
-
Sox @ Cubs 1:20 WGN
Was the infield in for Beckham? They needed to have the contact play there and at least have Getz get in a rundown so Beckham could get to second with the pitcher coming to bat.
-
Sox @ Cubs 1:20 WGN
Getz has been hitting the ball hard for about two weeks now. I'd say since the big hit to right in K.C. My only complaint thus far is that Danks was a tad wild and the Sox are not taking any pitches and while that usually does them in, it has worked very well today.
-
Sox @ Cubs 1:20 WGN
Danks outpitched Verlander to no avail last week. Let's hope he does the same today. I hate these games with a passion. They feel like playoff games.

Pen is rested for this series. With the reds line-up and two extra days rest as well as being off next Monday, every pen pitcher can go in this series.

There is your run danksy.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 01:14 PM) It's a bit like listening to Kermit the frog, isn't it? Any muppet would work. It is funny to listen to Chip Carey now as he is tolerable but was just as bad with the cubs. I somewhat think the cubs prode them into this or these guys really get jacked up on the cubs rather qucikly as neither were cub fans before taking over the job.

Artie Lange vs. Joe Buck's on JB's Live HBO show
Lang admitted it was a PR thing that HBO asked him to do if the show sucked before it was even a news story. I bet Lang gets an HBO special now becuase of it.

Is Sammy a Hall of Famer???
QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 10:33 AM) Palmeiro before he started steroids, When was that? Reggie Jackson was a second ballot HOF'er and is comparable to sosa in my opinion. Don't tell me about October because Jack Morris is the best October player in the last forty years.

Will Joe Mauer hit .400?
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 11:11 AM) I've never thought anyone could realistic hit .400 this late into a year before now. I don't think he'll do it, but if Vegas or Atlantic City had odd of him hitting .400 at 10-1 I'd probably throw $100 down on that. It is only May 15th for him. Didn't Berkman go into June last year. If Ichiro could not hit .400 nobody will. Mauer does not get the speed hit.

Quentin "one bad step" from being lost for season
The broken wrist hitting a moveable object and now this. There is your DH for he next 15 years hopefully.

Is Sammy a Hall of Famer???
The media looks really bad on this guy as sosa was a complete product of steroids and the media never even bothered to question it. Bonds had a similar type frame and got huge but he was always a good hitter and there was always talk about him. sosa for whatever reason was given the benefit of the doubt. If Hineybird wanted to make a name for himself that wouldhave been the way to do it. The brown paper bag with cash in it was never really as issue. McGwire was a good home run hitter and he had the testro thing. sosa was always given a freee pass. The cork thing should have kept him out in my opinion along with the suspicion.

Wise - "Keep Booing Me"
The thing that I am complaining about here is that the opportunity to see if there is anyone in AAA or AA that could produce anything, hell an average of .200 is an improvment is being wasted. When Quentin comes back Wise hopefully is let go. What was the benefit of anything Wise did this year? There was achance to get Kroeger or Coook at-bats and at least see what they have. Could they have a Ryan Ludwick type year, who knows. The fact that Wise replaces Dye or Podsednik is really an indictment of a very poor personnel decision by either KW or Guillen in that they would rather have the most worthless player to play for the Sox in as long as I can remember, he makes me wish for Julio Ramirez, rather than give a AAAA type guy a shot. Wise is not even an AAAA guy, how he has stuck around is amazing to me. KW really struggles to fill his bench as Julio Ramirez and Luis Terraro can attest to.
