  1. No sure what the story telling on the radio is all about but should Ozuna have gotten that ball and how was the first out recorded?
  2. Two guys work the count nicely. Too bad Ozuna and Hall couldn't do anything. Pitcher with possible blister problems..... OK DYe look for a pitch and hit it HARD or work the count
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 01:47 PM) The Sox are doing him and the team such a disservice by having him on the major league roster. There is no need for him on this team and Anderson at this time and the need of a LH bat on the bench is huge. Pablo works count well..... Hall is so f'ing terrible it is sickening, infield pop out, great job douchebag. 2 hitters, 3 pitches sighhhhhh.
  4. QUOTE (DonnyDevito @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 01:38 PM) Chicago is already batting .250 as a team! i can't stand these 2-1, 1-0 games. the offense MUST wake up. Relax, Toby Hall will be batting shortly.
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 01:06 PM) Not saying he sucks just saying if your talking about the best defensive team you don't put Ozuna and Ramires both in the infield together. Last night's offense was lingering when I posted that and was just hoping to get a different set of guys against the soft tossing leftie.
  6. Brian Anderson was seen kicking Guillen's dog this morning. Why not put the best defensive outfield out there you can and DH Dye? Crede in the 5 hole after not doing anything against the same type of pitcher he struggles against???????? I'd have liked to see Ozuna at third, Ramirez at second and Anderson in CF. Having sat through last night's game the pathetic offensive display by certain guys is still lingering I guess.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 12:26 PM) Another point on Ehren/MMac...so far, in the first 2+ weeks of the season, I've counted basically 1 game where I said "you know, this is a point where Ehren would be real useful", about 2 weekends ago against Detroit where Linebrink, Dotel, and Jenks had all pitched the 2 days beforehand and could probably have used the day off, so one more trusted righty reliever would have been useful But, thankfully, Liney et al. came in and did their job, and a rain out, a couple grand slams, and a long relief job by Masset have kept us from hitting that point again, and we won't reach it again tonight or tomorrow because they didn't pitch last night. In other words, only once in the first 14 games will it have mattered at all which guy we had up. Otherwise, it's entirely been a question of which guy we'd throw in for a junk inning or two in a game where one of the two teams has taken over. And even in that game, it didn't matter because the guys we have did their jobs anyway. Maybe Ehren would be a better pitcher right now than MMac. But with the way our team is running right now, it hasn't made one bit of difference. The thing is McDougal hasn't looked good, like last night for instance. A nice quick inning would've helped yet the umpire jobbed him in his mind. If you are nowhere near the strike zone, the umpire is not going to give you the benefit of the doubt. See Jose Contrearas.
  8. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 10:16 AM) I dont know if it was the weather but at last nights game there was a large percentage of a-hole fans at the game, more than usual. There was a small group of Oakland fans that were about 15 years old holding signs up for the A's.People were cursing and heckling them the whole game.I have a problem with that, its not like they were rubbing it in our face that they were there in our territory trying to mock our team. They were just some kids cheering for their team while they ate their dippin dots and we have all these meathead fans that wouldnt let them hear the end of it.It was pitiful to see as a sox fan. Welcome to "Value Mondays" also known as half price night. Save $12 on a ticket and buy 5 beers at $32...... You see what you are getting on "Value Mondays".
  9. Juan Uribe's average is higher than Jim Thome's. Jim Thome makes 3x what Uribe makes and has no defensive skill set while Uribe saves at least a hit a game with his defense. While I am not saying Uribe is better than Thome, Thome should be a greater concern with his age at this point than Uribe. Juan Uribe's hitting is not why this team will lose. Jim Thome's can be attributed to at least a couple of games already (Thursday, Friday and yesterday he had the opportunity to come through and failed, sorry the GO RBI wasn't that impressive).
  10. Eveland sounds like the type of pitcher that is brought in to make the Sox look silly........ That with the A's plate patience could lead to another long frustrating day. Maybe the approach will change and the pop-ups will be brought down a little (they had 7 of them 5 on the infield last night).
  11. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 12:00 AM) Jim Thome was our best hitter last season. Crazy idea to think of getting rid of him just yet. This team needs to get really hot here the next couple of weeks as they are playing beatable teams wrapped around the Yankees. If you look at the rest of the division they are playing tough schedules. The Sox need to open ground now as May is a complete road trip with little or no off days. The Quintin AB in 9th was a disgrace both he and Crede had a miserable nights at the plate. The 2-0, 3-1 pop-ups are inexcusable.
  12. QUOTE (the People's Champ @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) First of all, Brian Anderson is currently on the roster, so he has nothing to do with this topic. and Secondly sure everything is working fine right now, we have timely hitting, lots of 2 out RBI, plenty of power. But what happens when that all comes to a screeching halt?? You have to start manufacturing runs, the same credo that '05 team lived by. And to manufacture runs its kind of hard to do when you are waiting to string 3 hits together to do it. The 05 team lived on pitching and enough hitting to win. This team is hitting the way the Yankees and Boston do, they see a ton of pitches and are making the pitcher work even Uribe is doing this fairly well (to his standards). Podesednik at his best still did not got on base enough. If you notice Konerko is turning into a little OBP machine thus far as well. If Thome starts to click this team could really be on to something.
  13. If Jim Thome was hitting and getting on base at a more normal clip this offense would be insane. Swisher is doing exactly what he needs and is playing better CF than Owens would. Quintin and Anderson render Owens expendable. Owens like Fields and Richar could use the time at AAA.
  14. The Brewers are looking really good. The cubs are struggling to beat anyone which is exactly like last season. Once Gallardo is back I think the Brewers will be the team to beat. I would say watch out for St. Louis but they have played San Fran and Washington.
  15. QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 02:53 PM) gotta love players who are in their contract year. Like Juan Uribe and C.C.
  16. JOE f***ING CREDE KILLED THAT BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. I really think Illitch really forced the Cabrerra trade on Dombrowski..
  18. Eddings was not really at fault it is windy but not that bad, same with Rogers, Eddings was the only guy that judged the ball correctly maybe by accident.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) Whaddya mean unafraid of the bat? The problem is, the Tigers hitters can't touch this stuff! He seems to not trust his stuff (ie the first three innings Monday) and tries to be to cute. If he just reared back and threw and didn't think, he'd be fine, like today.
  20. Thome needed the day off. Would've liked to see Anderson or Ramirez in CF Uribe's defense is good enough to keep running him out there
