  1. I wasn't comparing this to other players I just liked that Crain seemed to be looking to drill Crede and maybe this pissed off some guys off. The same seemd to be happening to Rowand. Silvia has great control yet he almost drilled Rowand twice (got him the second time). It looked like Pablo was trying to make a GOOD CLEAN point that's all.
  2. Did anyone hear any booing last weekend when 110K showed up to watch them play the Yanks. How about the over 100K that showed up to see them take a s*** against the Twins. I am offended by these quotes actually as the last I could see we were coming out in droves spending dough and they were not really looking to good (7-18 at home in the last 25?). Call me a bandwagon jumper if you will but I am not going to sit with the rose colored glasses on. If he is reading these boards, he needs a new hobby. Sorry.
  3. Whie watching the replay last night, I happened to see the slide Pablo had into third on the Uribe bunt. I thought at first it was Uribe but it had to be Pablo. It looked like a nice hard with a little intent to it, I liked it. The little Rodriguez fellow almost lost a leg. It was clean. I like Pablo Ozuna.
  4. Hermanson healthy and this bullpen is sick next season. Vizcaino, Cliff and Marte are your 6th inning guys. I beleive they are all signed. $24M can be spent elsewhere. We have 5 guys that can close right now (Cliff, Marte, Neil, Jenks and Hermanson) if they are throwing strikes and Viz if he is on is no fool out there. This is why I like Cooper and Oz b****ing about the walks if these guys throw strikes they are good, all of them, we have seen this.
  5. Let's see he has shut down the Twins twice did you see them the last week their offense is nothing to write home about and KC, not really murder's row. The Tigers hit him somewhat and we saw him in the spring. The Duke needs a good outing and we need to change our approach. Timo should let a pitch hit him, charge them mound and get both of them tossed. All this and I do not like our chances, hopefully the starting pitching can keep it up as Moyer is going Sunday and their bullpen shuts us down, not good but let's see what happens.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) $50K, IIRC Now think if you claim 10 ($500K) players when the wire is flooded. This is why you put your whole team out there. I know the wire conversation is well overdone here but I never thought of this rationale.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Ask Dustin Hermanson, as he is experiencing just that phenom this year. I think his back is the problem not a tired arm.
  8. Doesn't it cost like $25K to claim a player?
  9. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) 99 last pitch. Work sucks, can I get pitch by pitch?
  10. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) Some things never change. I luuuuuv game threads. IS IGUCHI HURT????????????????????????????????????
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) Yup -- The Twins tired Jon out to get him out with only one and a third outs left to get in the game... :rolly The 9th last night, Garcia in the 7th or 8th the night before. Garcia in the 7th last week...... I am not blaming Garland I am making a point comparing a horses*** offense to ours and what they do. Watch the Oakland A's this is their strategy and it works with less prolific hitters.
  12. The thing that ticks me off is that Garland is out of there because the Twins worked the count giving up at-bats to tire him out. The Sox inability to work a count and tire a pitcher is disgusting. Garland would throw 16 pitchers to 3 batters, Silva would throw that to 7. This is what is killing this team offenesivly. Major League pitchers are there for a reason, they can pitch, you need to work them, especially if they are not power guys. Am I wrong???
  13. Marte and Timo must have some great pictures.
  14. I predict Walk Sac Walk Double Single 3 -1 Twins into the 9th.
  15. Twins foul off good pitches and take close pitches which sometimes are called strikes sometimes they are not. Sox swing at first thing close. This game does not look good, Twins pen is well rested.
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) I'd do it if someone really close to me was a Cub fan maybe. That was what my original post stated.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) The tickets are not for a suite at a Cubs game... My point was why would a cub fan do this? Would you do it for a cub game agaisnt say...the Reds on a Tuesday night? This seems like a waste of time for someone that is a cub fan.
  18. If GIVEN tickets to a suite at a cub game I would pass. Why the F' would I write an essay and waste any time whatsoever for this? View this from a cub fan perspective, why would they do this? Why put in the time and effort? To see a Sox game? Against the Royals????? Sounds like some sort of hoax to me. Write the essay pretending to be a cub fan it is like politics, nobody can prove anything. I think the idea would be I am a die hard cub fan but my dad who is a deadhard sox fan would love to go and I would suck it up to take him as he is older a suite would be great for him yada, yada yada.
  19. I know the guy that put this promotion into their heads same guy that proposed half way to St. Pat's night. There is a stereotypical promo for the south side if there ever was one His idea was to have Ligue bottlehead night and mullet night. I think it is funny, cub fans by the way would eat this promo up, see 70's night. This is baseball not polo enjoy it, geez the way you guys are acting you would think it was pedofile night where everyone dressed as a clown gets in for free.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) Geoff Blum is just about the only guy that's hitting right now other than Ozuna. Blum has picked up 7 hits in his last 6 games including a hit in 5 out of his last 6. He is the least of our worries. I'd like to see Geoff in there everyday. When he came to the plate in the 7th (I think) it said he was hitting .218 with 0 HR and 0 RBI. Did I read it wrong?
  21. Last night other than the Timo move was not an issue. It is the Shawn Chacon, Mike Mussina (his ERA was 4) this isn't Mussina circa 1997 here, Gil Meche, Josh Towers, Kyle Lohse, Aaron Small, Wade Miller, Hideo Nomo, games where we have no chance that gets me. These are games where it appeared over before it began. Although we were throughly dominated for 17 innings by Santana. I understand he is good but come on.
  22. Some issues while reading through the forum this morning. 7 game lead is still nice. We are guaranteed to still be in first on Sept. 1st for what it is worth. Wouldn't Joe Borchard or and god help me greg Norton look good agaisnt a below average righty? The kind that we seem lost against (Towers, Meche, etc.) I am not saying these guys are the answer but what is the purpose of Jon Adkins? Borchard can strike out as much as Rowand and Dye but can still get a run with one swing. I AM NOT SAYING HE IS THE DIFFERENCE, just an option as s***ty as it may be. Who is going to start the DH next week? Someone pitching on 3 days rest???? Does anyone think that Ozzie and Kw really think this thing is done and we have enough to get to the playoffs and hope for the best????? The Timo move last night was disgusting. Why doesn't Ozuna play more??? Jeff Blum????? Ugh.
  23. The mirage of Sunday (1 inning) is gone, this lead could be gone by next week. Santana is good but why not try to bunt steal or do something to light a fire. This team is horrendous right now.
  24. He is as much a gamble as the other four. We do not have a clear cut shut down guy but rather five really good quality guys that give us a shot against anyone.
  25. Harry Chappas replied to SnB's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have limited access to other broadcasts mainly cubs and ESPN and I'll tell what Hawk is better than most. Think about how hard it is to be entertaining on television covering one team the whole season. On the national side there is plenty of issues to cover about guys/the team as they are on once in a while (unless you are the Yanks, cubs, or Boston.) On the radio you can fill time with the visual aspects of the game which would be just stupid on television. I think this is why most people would get tired of the same old thing. The cub broadcasters are terrible. Yesterday as they were telling about how good Williamson looks he gives up a three run game ending (essentially) homer. I like the homer side, that is why I am watching the Sox. I think the cliches are becoming a tad much. It seems most people that do not like / hate him, will dislike anyone that is in there. The Griffey thing is bad.
