A.J. FUCKING PIERZYNSKI
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) Wild Pitches=Pitchers fault Passed Balls=cathers fault baseball 101 The other numbers sounds avg? He is LEADING the league in defense. He is in the top 10 in the other categories. Do you know how many teams are in the league? Because being in the upper third in stats does not make you avg. I think maybe you need to look up the term average and figure out if you are using the correct word. He is a top catcher, he plays every day, handles his pitching staff almost better than everyone, plays great defense and hits for power. What more do you want. The point of this thread was about how great he was and that he should make a ton next year based on mid-May performanace. After watching him this year I understand why he was let go. I really overrated him (I thought he would be awesome). The firey side of him is what this team needed but I can also see how it could wear thin. He is worth 3 to 5M a year no more. I THINK HE IS AVERAGE I DO NOT THINK HE SUCKS!!!! I think his passion is what we need that other teams did not. That was my point. He is not a $9M a year guy. 4th in HR but 11th in slugging is not good, it is average. There are many pitches that are called wild pitches that he should've got to, the first one last night did not hit the dirt. If you can stop it, don't call it. We can win with him as our catcher and I think he should be resigned but he is not that prize I really thought he was. He is a huge addition and benefit for this team but he is not the top tier guy I thought. That is all I am trying to say.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) and that someone should be Jenks Heat. These teams have comparable catchers in the AL where there are 14 teams; Cleveland, Minnesota, Boston, New York, California, Oakland, Baltimore, Detroit These that don't Texas, KC, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Toronto Looks average to me.

A.J. FUCKING PIERZYNSKI
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) denfense is below avg huh? He leads the league in fielding percentage for catchers (.999), 3rd in PO, 6th in CS. offense is avg huh? I believe he is 4th in Hr's 6th in RBI's 8th in hits 11th in SLG in the AL. I just think the wild pitches could be cut down. The other numbers sound average to me. Also the hitting sounds about average to me 4th in HR 11th in slugging, some disconnect here don't you think? I am not saying I am not happy to have the guy or that he isn't worth $3-5M but I thought he was a top catcher and he is probably average with the intangibles lifting him or dropping him as he is a personality that can be taken either way. When he faced us I thought he was worth more then what we are paying him now I can see why he got what he got.

A.J. FUCKING PIERZYNSKI
I kind of see why he doesn't get much attention. He is an upgrade but his defense is below average, his hitting is average. If the intangibles are not good (SF) I could see letting him go. We the top two pitchers in WP. He is a groundout machine.

White Sox @ Royals 9/13 Gamethread
Time for Ozzeroo to get a clue and AJ to block a pitch. I know some of those pitches are tough but the third strike should have been caught or at least knocked down.

White Sox @ Royals 9/13 Gamethread
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) I wanted him out after the Sweeney hit. However, if Ozzie was going to let him pitch to the next few guys, then why not finish your mess? Berroa is a good fastball hitter, and we bring in a fastball pitcher in Politte. Oh well.....this is Ozzie's ass on the line, not mine. Exactly.

Konerko to be an Angel?
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) Konerko: 2005 RISP: .240 BA .840 OPS 2005 Runners on: .267 BA .871 OPS Career RISP: .272 BA .818 OPS Career Runners on: .278 BA .824 OPS He may not be very good with RISP 2 outs but he ain't bad with RISP and better with runners on in general. For comparative sake can you post the league or Sox average in this category?? I am lazy.

Sitting Squarely on the fence
We got swept by the Angels, I can live with that. Not good but we are still on pace to win 97 games, with 20 left. We play the Royals, Cleveland plays Oakland. This looks nice. We play the Twins while Cleveland is playing the Red Sox, I beleive. Twins look to have packed it in and we have 6 left with them. All of these things point to a nice week ahead. Maybe. Ozzie needs to leave town to get away from the City of Chicago??? Doesn't the entire team leave for a week tomorrow? Who are these folks beating him down, the (softball question) reporters? Do the fans get to sit down and chat with him? Who is he getting away from??? Sounds like the 2004 cubs if you ask me now we just need to get rid of some broadcasters. I was fine with the state of affairs until I realized (I saw no baseball all weekend, Sox included until last night) that a Twins starter did not make it through the 5th??? Sanatana was beat? Maybe the schedule is not as favorable. We need to hit, it is that simple and we need to change up a couple of things. This is where the manager needs to see what he has and go from there. This is where Ozzie needs to lead, and he is off to Miami.......maybe he will chat with Nick Saben, remember him a leader the Bears could not use. I gotta get away from the city of Chicago.

Game Thread Angels vs Sox 9/10 12:15 CT
QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) This would be an ideal situation for Borchard. Good defense and as likely to get a big hit as Timo.

Mike Morse
Hence the two year ban as the IOC has. Sit 10 games and reap the benefits for a few months/years.

Look who has baseball's best record again
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 08:13 AM) too bad for the cubs, his option is kicking in and he is automatically owed 9 million for next year. $9M for a guy that wins 15 games a year sounds right.

Attendance crap
The Trib in the article today has this weekend drawing >30,000 for all three games and over 20,000 (I would hope this will continue to rise) for the Indians and Twins. Using the Royals excuse I don't get. If I am going to a game I want to see a bad team so there is a greater chance my team will win. I just hope they have a shot at clinching at home, should be another sell-out.

Where is Cotts?
I believe the booing was for Marte, that was why I got up and left when I saw him coming in. For every questionable move Guillen makes, they are 36 games over. That is enough for me although I could go without Marte.

Tentative 2006 Home Schedule
Where are the road games??? How do you know they are not in Milwaukee?

Roster Moves
I think Borchard should get some looks especially against righties. He can play right and let Dye and Everett DH. Borchard is a very solid outfielder who will be gone next year.

Petition to Keep John Rooney
QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) Send the petition to The Score then, and eliminate the middle man. The Score apparantly has more control over who broadcasts the games and they couldn't come to terms with Rooney. The Score has nothing to do with the broadcasters it is the team that does. This is a Sox decision. The SCORE may ahve input but they work for the Sox. Teh SCORE is a s*** station none the less and this is a real pisser. Why is DJ still employeed, does anyone like him???? Uh Oh.

Sox added a bat at the deadline.............
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) When Juan goes to right field like that is when he starts going insane at the plate, hopefully hopefully hopefully hopefully we'll get a hot Juan Uribe for the rest of the season and into the playofs. A hot Juan and a hot Carl and the division and enjoyment is ours.

Ross Gload comments
Well at least we can get less of Jeff Blum at first and Timo as the primary LH off the bench. But seriously folks if Ozuna shows he can play defense, mostly third, can Gload replace Blum or at we stuck with the "offensive" Jeff Blum.

Offiicial game thread 9/1
No Blum good to see. Ride this lineup fro the next week please.

Let the Mariotti Bashing Begin
Graffanino and Lawton would look a lot better than Blum and Harris, or whoever the 25th man will be. Ozuna, Widger, Timo, Blum, Willie........this bench is disgusting. Replace Blum and Willie with Lawton and Graffnaino and lose 4 minor league pitchers (nopt named McCarthy) and I'd be happy. This makes my stomach turn to think how bad we are if we miss another regular. I can not believe there was nothing to be had. KW was fixated on a big move and instead made no moves. Very bad decision.

Worhtless tidbits
So I am reading this Frank DeFord book about how Christy Mathewson and John McGraw basically made baseball what is it. I am only 50 pages in so lets see how it goes but a couple of little facts. William McKinley was assissinated 09-14-01 WTC 09-11-01; odd The writer's of Casey at the Bat (Plate) whatever it is and Take Me Out to the Ballgame had never witnessed a baseball game before penning these items. At the end of each the player strikes out. The Ballgame song guy wrote it on a train soon after passing Ebbets field. Bedtime let's see what crap this book has in store. I give it another two nights before it is fodder for the fire pit.

SEPTEMBER TO REMEMBER
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) I know so. The guy I have season tickets with knows Jimbo quite well. He likes both teams. Ever notice we joined on the same day, probably same time. Huh. Anyway he got pissed when I was in there for the playoffs and blasting the cubs. I just found it funny, the Sox are a big book of his business so he should be happy with and root for them. I AM NOT TRYING TO START ANYTHING BY THE WAY. Ingins lose, I am happy but Crosby hurt really bites.

Just a reminder to Ozzie
QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) Didn't Adkins get sent down for Baj? And Baj for McCarthy hence their unavailability.
