  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 10:24 AM) Faulty use of data again. Author is indicating that a lack of directly-related layoffs means it is a non-factor, except we aren't really talking about layoffs. We are talking about a lack of expansion. I can't speak for everyone here, but I've stated over and over again, regulatory uncertainty is absolutely an issue in some specific industries. It is also true that it is not, by a long shot, the biggest reason why expansion isn't occurring at a large enough rate. Lack of demand for goods and services, plain and simple, is the biggest reason. You're not arguing with me on your position, you're arguing with the conservative claims that "regulatory uncertainty" and mean words from Obama are what's tanking the economy, not demand, and that if we just deregulated everything, we'd be right back in the boom times.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 08:46 AM) getting off of Jay's pants... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...obref=obnetwork What's his workout attire going to be?

  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 08:12 AM) Is there a sentence in there somewhere? Or even an understandable sentence fragment? 16-0 in the playoffs? Huh?
  7. I don't think you can compare road rage to catching someone in bed with your wife, and I don't think unpredictable temporary insanity/loss of rational function means you're some kind of psychotic. But more importantly I more or less agree with what both you and alpha are saying here. I need to go make sure that the world isn't ending, brb.

  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 08:54 AM) I'm completely on the players side, after initially thinking the owners had a point. NBA players should start using #wearethe99
  11. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 08:59 AM) That idea is for weak minded people that think everyone is a psycho waiting to happen. The basic idea has been shot down in every state with a concealed carry law as crime rates drop. While the studies (Lott, mostly) that claim to show crime rates dropping due to liberalized gun laws are suspect in what they claim, what they do show is that at the very least crime rates don't increase when gun restrictions are removed. What I think I was getting at in that post (it was three months ago now) was the rare "crime of passion" type incidents.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 08:48 AM) Would it be a hard cap? Would there be salary give backs immediately? "Hard cap is off the table" according to some Tribune reporter on M&H this morning. Don't know about salary give-backs but they did talk about that being a possibility. Increased revenue sharing almost a certainty.
  13. QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 01:31 AM) I asked for it to be installed at another forum (a newer forum, not sox related) after reading this thread. I have to admit, its quite nice. Too bad. I don't really bother checking Soxtalk from my phone because its a huge PITA compared to using tapatalk.
  14. Do you guys work for Comcast's tech support? That's about all the "support" they can give. TV/Netflix mysteriously works fine this morning.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 08:16 AM) I'd be curious to see what the owners are asking for at this stage and what the players are willing to give. Players walked back from a 57% share to a 53% share. Owners want "50/50" but only after getting $300M first, which would make it more like a 47% share for the players.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 10:34 PM) Sometimes the most baffling changes in performance can be fixed by unplugging, counting to 10, and the plugging back in... I've tried that, tried resetting the whole thing too. Everything else works fine.
  17. Netflix just stopped working on my Sony GoogleTV. Worked fine on that TV last night, works fine on my Xbox but on the TV itself I can get to the browsing menus but I can't actually select anything. Damn technology.
  18. Gun storage and protection information would be good too.
  19. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 06:30 PM) Because we were states that came together to form a nation. Individual states voted to accept a new constitution, which we are still using. That constitution replaced the Articles of Confederation which created strong states and a very week national government. It's a philosophical question, not "how does American government function" question

    QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) Whatever you say. There was no cliffhanger. Definitely not in the traditional show style where the main situation would be completely unresolved. Breaking Bad doesn't leave gimmicky cliff-hangers like that while still setting up huge amounts of tension.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) He also has this problem. (No that's not necessarily a problem. I just wanted to add in that picture.) He has a "posting hotlinks to images on other peoples' servers" problem? He's f***ed.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 04:49 PM) Gingrich says a lot of stuff that won't help. But he has a unique paring of policy record... he's got a lot of conservative policy points to provide that the right will like, but he also has a history of getting things done with a Dem Prez which appeals to moderates. He's also a known name, and that tends to carry weight with old school GOP'ers. The keys for him are, can he get the funds raised, and can he avoid a Biden-esque verbal screw-up. I was referring to Cain, who had the audacity to criticize Perry over this, and is now just another black race-card playing politician.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) How is that not swearfiltered? Anywho. The swear filter here isn't very intelligent, but I honestly wasn't trying to circumvent it there. Maybe if we were to upgrade the board software and implement tapatalk, we'd get a better swear filter...
